I have a 2009 Corolla LE and the radio does not work. It keeps popping the fuse for the radio under the hood. Is this a common problem? If not any system wiring diagram? I am about to take the car on a big trip and if I cant get the radio to function....its gonna be a long ride...
View 1 RepliesMy sis has a 09 corolla le and was fine until 4months back. Her STOP fuse #9 would blow. She took it in to toyota, they replace her fuse for her and let her go.. A month later it happen she took it back and they replace it again, so about a week later it happen. Now the Toyota guy tries to check it and but cant find out the problem and tells her that she needs to go see an electrician... he replace for her and gave her extras for the long run... recently until now it was running fine, then it happen again, the #9 fuse blew up yesterday and today!... Her brake lights won't come on when she steps on it and it wont go into drive from park unless she press on that bypass switch.. I know that there could be a shortage somewhere..

View 11 RepliesPulling the inside hood release cable does indeed move the cable as it always has, but not the hood won't 'pop-up'. opening the hood of my car now is a 2-man operation: one guy pulls-up on the inside hood release lever and holds it up, while 2nd guy reaches fingers under hood front and moves the latch so hood can be lifted. this's proven to be the only way to open the hood. Yesterday we looked closely into the latch internals and observed nothing out of the ordinary - 2 extension springs stretching (apparently) as they should. All latch parts liberally dosed w/ WD-40 to no avail. Why the pop-up doesn't occur anymore ...

Now this might sound stupid but a little while ago I was cleaning the engine bay and noticed i had some coolant spray all over my hood, I thought i had a cracked house but couldn't find anything, I also installed a trd radiator cap but I still have some coolant spray. is this normal?
View 14 RepliesI jump started a car tonight and while jump starting said friends car the radio and clock turned off I went to check fuses but the owners manual gives the fuse location for the standard non touch screen radio I went to look at the fuse for it and there wasn't one Is there a different fuse on the back of the touch screen maybe.
View 2 RepliesA few weeks ago I started noticing what I would best describe as a whining noise when I accelerate. It's not very high-pitched but definitely noticeable. It seems the more I accelerate, the higher pitched the whine becomes, and I can only hear it when I am accelerating. It is not very loud: if I have the radio or stereo on I can't hear it. I have a 2009 Corolla LE with around 122k miles on it (I drive a lot for work.) A few weeks ago I had the car in for an oil change, and was told that my battery was getting low and will need to be replaced soon, so I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it. As far as describing the specific location of where it is coming from, the best I can say is that it's coming from somewhere under the hood...I know that's a very vague description, but I can't really pinpoint it to anywhere beyond that.
View 3 RepliesI attempted to remove a 7.5 amp fuse from the interior panel under the dash on the left side. Using the fuse removal tool in from the fuse block under the hood, I grabbed one and worked it out slowly.
When I got it out, the metal prongs were broken off of the plastic housing. I thought this was weird and looked into the fuse block trying to see if I can see the prongs. No luck!
I attempted to pull another fuse to see if it will come out and sure enough, the metal prongs are broken off in the fuse block. I tried again to see if I could see the the prongs but again, no luck!
I put the plastic housing (top half of the fuse) back into the slot and the electronics for that fuse is working. However, I am concerned that something is wrong and causing the fuses to break when attempting to pull them out.
Car wont even crank, no power to any accessories.
Car is making a clicking noise from the engine fuse book too as well.
Low engine oil pressure light also comes on too.
Checked the oil which is fine.
Checked fuses 2 weeks ago and they were fine.
Need a working car.
I recently purchased a 2009 Corolla LE. I noticed that at night, my radio does NOT light up. However, when the car is in the 'on' or during the day, the radio screen is lit. I just know this can't be right. Is there something I can do to fix this backward problem? Or do I need to take it in?

I also have XM on my 05 Suburban and never experience a loss of signal other than going under over passes or through tunnels.
I recently got my corolla (2009) repaired and the technician said that the radio was not connected to the battery for about two weeks. Now the radio (even the backlight) won't turn on regardless of any buttons I press. All the fuses have been checked and are fine. Could this be some anti-theft mode in which something must be done to turn it back on.

When I heard the sound start to lower I looked at the radio & I could see the numbers for the volume level decline then go back up.
View 7 RepliesI do have an issue with a 2010 Toyota Corolla A/C. It is not blowing any cold air, just ambient air.
Try troubleshooting it by checking the freon on the low port. Reading was very high so it seems like the compressor clutch is not engaged. However, in reading up about 2010 version, I found there is actual no physical compressor clutch. There is also no "relay" to bypass such that you can engage the clutch. Reading further seems to indicate that it's a solenoid system, which I'm not familiar with.
2009-10 Toyota corolla hear a lot of noise in the center console below the radio? I know those radio bezels can be noisy along with the area underneath the radio.. The plastic there tends to creak when you go over rough tar roads or uneven bumpy roads. Especially when its hot outside..
Will this be resolved by insulating those area..? Also, when you go over a bumpy road the back of the headliner tends to make a creaking sound..
Display is real light. How do you brighten it up. Basic toyota radio.
View 1 RepliesSo I have the dreaded "rear defroster/radio static interference" issue on my 2011 Corolla LE. I turn on my radio and all is good. I turn on my rear window defroster and my FM reception goes away.I am pretty sure I did it to myself because it only started happening after I cleaned the rear window with some windshield washing fluid and a paper towel. I do have a knack for being a bit gruff on things and people unintentionally so I guess I am not surprised. I must have damaged the elements of the rear defroster in the process of cleaning the window. I should have left it dirty.
Anyway, I've read many posts detailing how breaks in the rear defroster grid can introduce EMI that effects the factory radio antennae in the rear window. Some of the answers I have seen suggested are:
1) replace the rear window (really?)
2) use a repair kit. URL...
3) completely replace the the rear defroster grid with an after market kit. URL...
4) replace the factory antennae with an after market unit that is not internally mounted
5) live with it
Are there any other options that I haven't found? If the root cause is the rear defroster, the repair kit seems like the way to go (even if it looks like an annoying task to perform upside down in such tight and cramped spaces). Might fix the defroster if its broken but will it resolve the EMI problem ...

View 9 RepliesWe have the basic stock CD / radio model number A518A1 and the XM Radio module with the fit kit installed in the passenger side wheel well in the trunk in a 2010 Corolla S.
Installation of the XM Radio & fit kit was dead simple and we're using the built-in OEM antenna on the roof of the car.
The problem we're having is the dreaded NO SIGNAL message when trying to listen to XM Radio.
I have the Lynx portable XM Radio installed in my car and when both cars are in the driveway, I can get the signal all day long and in her car she gets the NO SIGNAL message.
We've already called XM Radio and had the signal resent to the radio numerous times with no success.
I've gone to our Toyota dealer and the only thing they can recommend is to replace the OEM roof antenna. That part alone is $80 and you have to completely disassemble the headliner to get at the antenna.
Wiring up an actual XM antenna to take the place of the OEM roof antenna? I've searched the web and can't find an adapter plug.
I am trying to install the amp and subs that I have. The radio doesn't have a rca jack on the back and I don't know which wires I am suppose to splice into.
by the way I just purchased my 2011 Corolla S 2 weeks ago n loving it!
