What are the front speaker cutout dimensions. I think I read somewhere that it was 5 and 9/16" but how to verify this. I'm trying to put 6 3/4" speakers in there and was wondering if they will fit?

View 2 RepliesI have a buzzy, vibrating speaker in my right front door. Is the speaker itself shot or is it just loose? Or does the plastic door panel vibrate against the steel door. Placing my hand on the door doesn't seem to reduce noise ( 2010 Corolla )

Symptoms:
50% of the time there is static coming from the front right speaker and all other speakers are mute.
40% of the time there is no sound.
10% of the time the speakers are fine.
Steps taken this far:
Cleaned the ground underneath the battery.
My dad who is a mechanic says possibly a stereo issue while I think it's a connectivity issue. How to diagnose the problem and salvage my speakers.
I had two 12" subs running in my 09 corolla. The front right door speaker and little tweeter speaker stopped working so I took the subs out. I figured the speaker was blown so I ordered new ones. When I installed the new door speakers, they didn't work.
I know for a fact it is not the speaker that's faulty because I tried them on the driver- side door and they worked. So my passenger side door and tweeter speakers aren't working. Do I need to order a new tweeter speaker as well? Like does the tweeter need to be working for the door speaker to work? And vice-versa?
So my right rear stock speaker in my 09 corolla has started to cut out. some days it works fine, others it's a mess. I've never cranked them so it shouldn't be damaged, in fact it sounds a lot like when a wire is a bit loose. How to fix it?
View 2 RepliesYesterday, I upgraded my door speakers to Fosgate PPS4-8's. They Fit beautifully, and I just have them in the original hole, standing on 3/4" spacers.
Removing my fosgate power 6.75's, I found that there were droplets of water all over the back of them. When you are driving in the rain, water comes in the drain right under the speaker.
The new 8's have baffles that I made out of cheap paint buckets from lowes until the real ones get here. I'm kinda unhappy with Toyota right now. I had assumed that because the stock speaker didn't have any protection, that it would be good.
The PPS4-8's are a midbass speaker, not a woofer. They are good for 80Hz to 5KHz. I went with them because I had a huge hole in my midrange that I couldn't correct because I had no midrange drivers. All 2-way's.

They are Single Voice Coil 4 ohm (wired at a 2ohm load)
I wired the red hot wire (4 gauge) from the battery to the trunk. The ground wire is on the shock nut (4 gauge). The amp has power. The speakers are wired to a 2 ohm load. Now how do I get signal to the amp? This is my first car with a stock head unit. My amp has speaker level inputs and an auto detect feature so it turns on whenever signal comes through. So can I splice into a rear speaker and run the wire straight to the amp correct or would it be better to get a line converter and run RCA cables?
I am finding the physical location of the alarm speaker that beeps at the driver in the 2009 Corolla. I'd like to know because I want to rip the thing out. I don't need a device annoying me while I'm driving or just listening to music with the door open . I've partially taken apart my dash and could not locate the speaker.

I bought some speakers that do not have the tweeters built into the woofer for the front speakers so where to put them, etc. The speakers that I bought are 5-1/4" two-way loudspeaker components (Infinity Kappas) [URL] can mount the woofers in the door no problem, and I can wire the crossovers that came with it... WHERE DO I PUT THE TWEETERS??? I have to drill in the metal of the door... and poke holes in the actual door panel cover for sound to come through it?

View 2 RepliesRecently purchased my first Toyota, a 2012 Corolla S with 76,000 miles on the ODO. I have a concern about a front end rumbling.
First, the problem...
This "rumble" (the best way I can describe it) starts becoming noticeable around 20-25 mph, depending on the condition of the road I'm on (it could be lower, but I'm in Michigan, all the roads are bad here). This rumble isn't a noise, but more of a low frequency sensation that can be felt in the car and through the steering wheel, and vibrates the rear view mirror. The rumble comes and goes, it isn't constant. Sort of like driving over a rumble strips put on roads before stop signs/intersections, it seems to have an oscillation to it. The rumble intensifies very little with speed. It doesn't seem to oscillate any faster or rumble much harder, it's just there.
Things I've ruled out...
Brakes. When I bought the car, the first thing I noticed was that the front brake rotors were slightly warped, so I installed new rotors and good pads. That didn't get rid of the problem, though I didn't really expect it to.
Tires. The previous owner had seriously over-inflated these tires. Once taken down to their proper pressure, they were noticeably cupped down the middle. These tires were also horribly noisy would not balance, so brand new tires went on (Michelins). The new tires greatly improved the ride, reduced noise, and got rid of a lot of other shakes and vibrations, but the "rumble" remains.
Wheel Bearings. I'm not 100% on this one, but as far as I can tell, it's not the wheel bearings. I've taken the car out on twisty roads and there is no change in the rumble through hard turns, nor any additional vibrations of any kind. Usually bad wheel bearings will exhibit some noise or vibration when being loaded in a turn, but not in this case, so I've ruled them out.
Things I'm not sure about...
CV Joints. I've never had a CV joint go bad or fail on me, so I am unfamiliar with the common signs and symptoms. I have inspected the boots, and they appear to be in good condition and crack free, though that doesn't mean a joint isn't failing. There's no clicking during slow sharp turns, but I think that would only present itself if an outer joint was failing. I'm going to get the car in the air this weekend to do a drain and fill on the tranny (the fluid is getting pretty dark, so I want to get some new in there).
I drove a Ford Focus for the past 10 years and a Ford Contour for 10 years before that, putting over 200,000 miles on both, and never experienced any sort of problem like this.
My Axles started to make noises couple months ago While making Sharp turns. I bought some new axles for the front, but this will be my first time replacing CV Axles.
Any tips and or recommendations on what to do and not do, and tools to use? I watched a couple Youtube videos already. I plan on changing them out this weekend.

View 3 RepliesSo last week I bought and installed a set of Megan EZ street coilovers for my 2011 corolla s. Everything was installed correctly and I lowered them as far as they would go without messing with the spring preload. They don't rub and I don't bottom out and everything was going fine until I pulled the wheels off to re plasti-dip them. At this point I noticed that the end link tab on my front right coil-over was bent. After doing some research I have found that this is a common problem when you lower a car and don't adjust the sway bar preload with adjustable end links. However I have looked high and low on the internet and cant find adjustable end links for a 2011 corolla. I can try and bend the tab back before it breaks or if it does break I can re-weld it back on but I don't want the problem to persist.
View 10 RepliesBasically, whenever I brake, my front brakes squeal. But they only do this if I use about 25% to 33% force. If I press on the pedal harder, the squealing goes away and the same if I reduce the force.
I replaced my pads with Wagner ThermoQuiet pads in March 2015. The noise started a month or 2 after replacing my pads, and I've only put about 12k miles on them. I had my car in a couple weeks ago for an oil change, and the inspection showed that the pads still had plenty of life on them. I brought it up to the service advisor, and he suggested that my rotors might be warped and need to be machined. The problem with that is I feel absolutely no vibration in my brake pedal that would indicate warpage.
So the only other thing I can think of is the shims might be causing the noise. I was going to get some grease and apply that and see if it works. Also, when I was replacing the pads I bled out a little more brake fluid than I intended. But it hasn't seemed to affect my braking ability so I ruled that out.
Any guesses for what might cause this? Like I said, I have plenty of material left on the pads and I can stop without problems, so it's not a safety issue, just a tad annoying.
I have a 2010 Corolla with 32K miles and I hear this humming or low groaning rotational noise that seems to get louder with faster speeds over 40 mph. If I turn to the right above 40MPH around a curve in the road, I hear it a lot louder and it oscillates in and out. What it is? I had it checked at the Toyota dealer and they said there was no issue with the wheel bearing but since the noise is still there today, I think I have to take it back. Is this something I could troubleshoot with the car parked?

I started noticing that whenever I put the car in first, it almost feels like the front tires are skipping off the ground. It does the same thing when I put it in second. At first, I thought it might have been caused by my 18" rims, so I switched over to the stock wheels. Same crap.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 Model S that has 38,000 miles on it. I am hearing a rattling in the front brakes when cruising along at almost all speeds. If i hold a little peddle pressure it goes away. Sounds like the pads are rattling to me. I am running the stock pads with about 45 to 50% remaining on them.
