This is my first car (09 le, 39k miles,"certified" used). Now this might sound stupid but a little while ago I was cleaning the engine bay and noticed i had some coolant spray all over my hood, I thought i had a cracked house but couldn't find anything, I also installed a trd radiator cap but I still have some coolant spray. is this normal?
View 14 RepliesPulling the inside hood release cable does indeed move the cable as it always has, but not the hood won't 'pop-up'. opening the hood of my car now is a 2-man operation: one guy pulls-up on the inside hood release lever and holds it up, while 2nd guy reaches fingers under hood front and moves the latch so hood can be lifted. this's proven to be the only way to open the hood. Yesterday we looked closely into the latch internals and observed nothing out of the ordinary - 2 extension springs stretching (apparently) as they should. All latch parts liberally dosed w/ WD-40 to no avail. Why the pop-up doesn't occur anymore ...
View 1 RepliesI have a 2009 Corolla LE and the radio does not work. It keeps popping the fuse for the radio under the hood. Is this a common problem? If not any system wiring diagram? I am about to take the car on a big trip and if I cant get the radio to function....its gonna be a long ride...
View 1 RepliesA few weeks ago I started noticing what I would best describe as a whining noise when I accelerate. It's not very high-pitched but definitely noticeable. It seems the more I accelerate, the higher pitched the whine becomes, and I can only hear it when I am accelerating. It is not very loud: if I have the radio or stereo on I can't hear it. I have a 2009 Corolla LE with around 122k miles on it (I drive a lot for work.) A few weeks ago I had the car in for an oil change, and was told that my battery was getting low and will need to be replaced soon, so I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it. As far as describing the specific location of where it is coming from, the best I can say is that it's coming from somewhere under the hood...I know that's a very vague description, but I can't really pinpoint it to anywhere beyond that.
View 3 RepliesI am going to change the coolant in my 2009 corolla 1.8L. The service manual instructions tell me to open the "cylinder block drain cock plug" and I can't find it. The picture in the manual is not very clear, but it points to a spot on the engine just above the throttle body.
View 9 RepliesI have a loss of coolant, and I can smell it as I drive. I looked under the car today every hose is dry to the cooling system, so I thought look where the heater core is, everything is dry there too. No sign of Head gasket leak either. I just can still smell it, and still losing some but it is very little. What should I look for next?

View 1 RepliesMy father put my f150 into reverse he says he didn't gas it. It was 2-3 feet in between the cars and the hitch went into the bottom grill below the front license plate. Coolant is leaking from the left side between the radiator and the block. Now the trucks hitch didn't go far enough to hit the radiator, or anything else I can see. I have cleaned the coolant and am in the waiting process try to identify the location. I believe that it is oozing from the water pump ( most of the coolant is underneath it), on the other hand there is coolant also by the radiator just not as much. I have the ability to fix this just not the tools. My family is going to take it to the dealer ship I just do not want them to get finagled around.

We took our vehicle to our local Goodyear because we had been hearing a noise and they discovered that the water pump had actually dislodged itself from the engine and was only being held on by the belt itself.
Also when I said the brakes weren't working they would work but since they were getting coolant on them they were making a horrible grinding noise. I took the vehicle to brake check to ensure the brakes were good because we have lifetime warranty and they assured us the brakes were fine.
It wasn't until we noticed the water pump that the Goodyear tech also showed us that the coolant had made it's way onto our braking system on the passenger side.
05 Chrysler T&C washer spray will only work with hood up and the hood down but not locked. Once locked the washer spray will not work. I tried crimping the small hose front left that that I thought might be the washer sprayer supply but the spray still worked with the hood up.
View 4 RepliesOkay so 2007 F350 DWR here, I have a driver who hauls loads using the truck and a 25' gooseneck trailer. She's gone through the bullet proofing process at 80K miles, she now has 128K miles. I have a programmer to monitor temps, and do all required maintenance.
With that said, my driver reported last week that when under load and going up hills he got the white spray coming out from under the hood. See pics below, this is never really good of course but I want to believe its not catastrophic. Two weeks prior I changed out the thermostat and upper radiator hose and of course flushed and filled coolant, all was good - no hoses were loose, etc. Driver reports the truck did not overheat at any time.
Both ECT and EOT are within 10-12 degrees of each other, and did not go over 190 for me while driving around town the other day. There are no codes present, I cleaned the engine bay and drove and re-inspected but can't tell where the coolant is coming from as none appears to be leaking. Last note, I have to admit after driving for a day or two I had to fill the degas bottle up about 3/4 gallon of water. My questions is, what is the next step for me in the diagnostic process?

View 1 RepliesSo I want to disable the ABS on my Corolla. I was wondering if I could pull the fuse in my bonnet to disable the ABS and if I were to do so which fuse would I pull.
I think if I were to pull the fuse from the interior, the other car features that are tied into the fuse wouldn't work.
If I can't pull the fuse in the bonnet, what are the other ways I could disable ABS? I read that removing the relay is an option.
Also is there anything I should know if I were to reactivate ABS? For instance, would the ABS light be off when I presumably reactivate it or do I need to perform some extra steps to remove the ABS light?
My 09 corolla has a whine at around 35-50 mph it does sound like its rpm related. When i let off the throttle it isn't as loud.

I was wondering would the 2.4 2az-fe fit in to my 1.8 corolla I want to get a bare block or blown engine and build it up and turbo it and then put it into my corolla. Would the 2.4 bolt up in place of the 1.8 and if so where I can get a bare block or a complete engine?
View 10 Replies09 le 1.8 135k miles. Had serpentine belt break while driving home, pulled over, had car pulled in on a trailer. Pulled old belt and found water pump was bad along with belt broken. replaced both, car would fire off as should, but would still run hot while leaving parked running. pulled thermostat, found it would not open until about 15 degrees above opening temp. replaced thermostat, now car will turn but won't start.
Disconnected battery to try and clear any codes that would prevent it from starting, still won't start. have had to charge battery a couple times so wondering if it's the battery not having enough charge to start car up? i wouldn't think so, and it doesn't make sense for it to be plugs since it was starting up without a problem before changing thermostat.
The air coming out when the on the drivers side is significantly warmer than the air coming out on the passenger side when the A/C is cranked to four. At times it is borderline hot unless I kick back the setting to a two or three and then the sides even out a bit more, but it still seems like the right side of the car is much cooler.

I've had my '09 Corolla for almost exactly 1 year and I've put 22k miles on it. All oil changes with Toyota elements and conventional oil at 1k miles and Mobil 1 5W-20 at 5, 10, 15, and 20k.
It's rattling like it isn't getting oil at start-up... intermittently. Sometimes it starts up just fine and others it rattles like it doesn't have oil for the first second or two. What's going on here?
I'm about ready to take it in to the dealer for an assessment, but with it being intermittent and all, I'm not expecting to be well-received. I know if I was looking at this as a used car and I heard what I've been hearing, I'd run.
