I'm at my wit's end trying to install cruise control in my 2009 Corolla. I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.
View 9 RepliesI installed an aftermarket cruise (Rostra) in my manual 2007 Corolla. Other than cutting the hole for the stalk the only real difficulty was getting my fat hands up under the dash to install the clutch disconnect switch. It certainly didn't involve any wire cutting or messing around with the ECM.
It's a long story, but through a sequence of events I have to opportunity to buy a 2010 base Corolla 5 speed at a pretty good deal. It also doesn't have a cruise control. I went tot eh Rostra website just to make sure cruise units are available and I looked at the installation instructions. Unless I read the wrong sheet, their instructions make it seem like installing cruise on a 2010 involves messing with the ECM wiring harness, moving connectors and a bunch of scary stuff like that.
It seems strange to me that the older car would be "plug and play" but a newer one would need changes to the main wiring harnesses. I'm not talking about a steering wheel mounted system where the clock spring has to be replaced, just a basic cruise.
I have a 2002 f350 my horn went off in the middle of the night got up and unplugged the horn what is my problem. also, the cruise control won't work when it all happened

Question regarding a 2002 Dodge Dakota, 2wheel drive ext cab 100,000 miles 6 cylinder engine. Cruise control stopped working, get the indicator light on dash, but no cruise.
Would I start with the Clock Spring? Will Durango parts interchange? ABS Light, was told the problem is the main unit that mounts on the driver side fender. Have tried replacing with other units from the local scrap yard, but still get warning lights/sounds.
I have a corolla 2009 and i noticed a whistle or a chirping sound every time i tap the gas pedal or if i cruise around 2000-2500 rpm , it looks like it's coming around the air intake.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 Prius and was just on vacation for two weeks and my Prius was stored in my garage. My wife just drove the Prius about 6 miles and all the dash lights came on. The car still drives, but the cruise control won't engage. A few months back I replaced the aux 12 V battery as it somehow died, so I don't think that is the problem. When the car is off, the aux battery voltage is 12.5 volts. When it is running the voltage is 13.9 volts.
I disconnected the aux battery and then reconnected it and all the problems went away for a while. Cruise control worked again, too. I just drove it a few more miles and it happened again and just as I got home to go up my steep driveway it would only go about 3 mph. Is that the "limp mode" I have heard about? What this might be? All the dash light are lit - red triangle, check engine, VSC, Brake System, etc. I am a newbie to this site, but I did a search and didn't find much that sounded like this problem. All the lights came on previously when my aux battery died, but the car wouldn't start, so this is somewhat different.
Hyundai Elantra SE ("sedan"?), 2009, manual - after the dealer replaced the brake light switch (or some such) as a recall service, soon after - but perhaps unrelated - the cruise control doesn't work at all from the driver controls. No nothing. All of a sudden. I read about the relays, fuses, however didn't make much of it - overlooked perhaps....
View 7 RepliesWe started having problems first with the car dying at stops, and having to be restarted. We had the oxygen sensor cleaned, and it stopped that problem. Then my ABS lights came on, and my cruise control stopped working. When the car was cold and I tried to take off (forward or reverse) the rpms would not go above 1000, and the car would only move like it was idling. I read in a closed discussion on this forum that it was the stop light switch under the brake pedals so we got one and changed it out. Same problems.
So we thought we had a bad one, so we exchanged it, and the tech at the Auto Parts store said "Maybe you have a fuse out." We changed the stop light switch again, same problem. We found a blown fuse marked "stop light." It is a $2.70 fuse, 10 amps. We put it in, and the brake lights worked. I planned to put it in the shop the next day, having read that it could be the air inlet sensor, the throttle body needing cleaning, the transmission, the transmission fluid....anyway, I had to go to the store this morning, and the ABS light was out, the cruise control was working, and the car no longer ran in "limp mode."
Before you do anything else, change the fuse!
I was driving and the turned on my cruise control on my car and then the vsc, red triangle, and the check engine light came on. It happened before but the next day when I was gonna take it to the dealer. All the lights have turned off. I have a 2009 Prius
View 1 RepliesAdded the cruise control brain, the actuator, and the column switch, all parts from the salvage yard, but I haven't been able to get it to work, so far.
Cruise indicator light does not illuminate on the dash when following the GM shop manual "Additional System Check" on page 8A-34-3. Everything meters out, following the troubleshooting guide, so it seems to be hooked up OK. Had a local shop check it - they said the voltage is present at the cruise control module, but they couldn't go any further.
Am I missing a part? A fuse? Do I need to somehow tell the PCM there is now cruise on this vehicle?
Many of you said it was the "ClockSpring" that needed to be replaced. But I already did that. A brand new clockspring on it. The horn only blows when the engine is off and when the engine is on the horn and Curse Control don't work. I have a 2001 Excursion. So What could the problem be? It works with the keyless remote. But just when you driving down the street and some bone head cut you off you can't just it.
View 5 RepliesI got a 2009 Corolla LE and I am wondering if the a/c dial lights up with the dash lights? Its been a while since I've been inside the car but I have this feeling that the dial used to light up. The dial has an on/off push button to activate the ac. That ac button does light up when depressed, the rest of it does not. if the dial does indeed light up, how would one fix this? is there a fuse or something just for the dial?
View 4 RepliesI have an '02 F150 Lariat CC 5.4L. The truck is new to me and neither the cruise control nor the horn works. i have checked all (known) fuses and relays. I have tried the cc diagnostic, and the dash light DOES NOT illuminate. Should I assume that the dash light is not burned out? Is there a way to test the clock spring connections for continuity? and how do I access the connection
i checked the cc brake pressure switch and have continuity there.
The steering wheel controls, horn and cruise control recently died in our '08 wagon. The fact that they went out suddenly and simultaneously suggests that they might be tied to a fuse. I looked around the intarwebs via google and saw some references to a problem with HomeLink wiring in the sunvisor blowing "fuse 5" on older models, but I'm unsure if something like this is even valid for the B6.
View 9 RepliesI have an 89 f250 7.3. horn has not been working for the longest time the relay clicks but still nothing. It doesn't matter weather the key is in the on or off position. I know it might be a grounding problem because the cruise control does not work any more (even though recently it was working just fine). I didn't see any bad fuses.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2001 F-250 SD XLT with the ABS light on, cruise control doesnt work and the horn only works with the key out. The codes for the ABS is no signal input from the left and right front wheel sensors. No problem there. Also my speedo stops or jumps when I press the horn button while driving down the road. When I quit pressing the horn button the speedo works fine. So after looking over the posts on cruise control, etc. Does the rear speed sensor have anything to do with the cruise, horn not working? All fuses are good so I am thinking the cruise control switch on the master cylinder or a short in the steering wheel column or my ignition switch. What do you all think?
View 7 RepliesJust purchased a 2009 Matrix XRS Manual transmission with 67,000 miles on it. I can't get the VSC Off and Traction lights on the panel to go out.
During our test drive, I had turned the system on and off to make sure it was working, and didn't seem to have any trouble with it.
I went to have it inspected yesterday. During the test, they hook up to the ODBII port to check emissions. The tech had trouble getting it connected the first time, saying the connection was going in and out. Eventually, they were able to get it connected properly and passed the inspection.
After they pulled the car out of the bay, the VSC Off and Traction lights were solid on, and they have been every time I've started the car since. Checking the manual, all I should have to do to turn the system back on is press the traction button, but that doesn't seem to be working at all. I also tried holding it down for 30 seconds or so with no luck.
The lights aren't flashing, so I don't think this is an error, I'm wondering if the computer got confused somehow with the ODBII port issues.
Stuff I've tried:
1. Followed these instructions for the Highlander Hybrid thinking maybe Toyotas will generally do this. That just caused most of the lights to flash on the panel and didn't bring up any VSC diagnostic messages.
2. I pulled the panel from the dash out to check to make sure the button was working, and I do get connectivity between the two outside pins while the button is pushed in.
how to get this to reset, or what the problem might be?
