View 5 RepliesI have a toyota corolla 2011 and I dont remember when window auto down stopped working or if it worked at all. I never disconnected the battery, not sure about if the dealer has done it after I took it for service before. Or maybe the auto down is fake?
View 5 RepliesI have 2009 Corolla XRS 5 speed automatic. I have 10,500 miles on it and I have had this transmission issue since I got the car. At times, while accelerating onto highways the car does not downshift. The car stays in 3rd gear up until 4,000 RPM. I can shift it by putting it in sport mode and shifting manually. It only does it sometimes but it does not seem normal.
Took it for my 1st service visit dealer said no codes came up on the computer and maybe it needed to be broken in. Went for 2nd service dealer told me no codes and no problems. I then wrote a letter to Toyota under the lemon law since it had 2 failed attempts at fixing it. They contacted me and said this may be normal. I do not see how it is normal.
Is it because it is a four cylinder that it has these problems? Usually it shifts correctly but I feel there is a defect but they said the computer would have codes stating problems and it does not.
Is it possible to reset or shut off the auto door locks?
When I use my use my factory remote to unlock the doors it usually locks itself within one second. If it don't time it right I'm pressing that button repeatedly trying to open the door. This is such a pain and it's annoying. Sometimes when I go to open the door so that I can exit the vehicle it locks itself midway me opening the door so that I'm stuck.
I called the dealer and shocker they want me to come in so that I can get screwed. There must be a way to just reset or reprogram this.
I have searched I have seen threads concerning the locking when you shift out of park. I am asking about just locking and unlocking the car.
Is there a way to disable to auto lock on these cars? When I put my car in park it unlocks it for me. Locking it is kinda cool, but not unlocking it. I had a situation a few days ago where I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for my girlfriend to get out of the store when a guy opened my door and tried to get in. He realized that he opened the wrong car door. I really do not want this type of situation to happen again due to the fact that I carry every single day. So, is there a way to disable the auto-lock "safety feature".

View 1 RepliesI was installing the footwell lights and now the headlights on buzzer does not work. And when I press the lock/unlock button on the key fob, the corolla actually locks and unlocks the car WHILE the doors are open! Also, the key in ignition buzzer doesn't work as well!
The seatbelt buzzer works though. I don't know what to do and I want those Features back!
What happened is that I was trying to zip tie the led strip on the metal bar under the steering wheel behind the panel with the tire reset switch. I guess the + & - terminals touched the metal thing and there was a little spark! The dome Lights work and so do the foot wells! But the buZZER doesn't!
Searched the forums and found a similar problem for a Solara but not carolla. Have a 2009 Carolla s and the low beam headlights don't work. The high beams work, but when i dim them only the fog lights come on (if i have them enabled, which is how its set for my wife now). If i go to the parking lights mode the low beams will come on. Changed the bulbs and fuses are intact. I am wondering if it's a relay or the column switch. I have access to a multimeter, techstream, and have basic auto skills.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 S with an auto trans and 68,000 miles. I've never replaced the fluid or filter. Over the last 10,000 miles or so, I've noticed the following in regards to shifting.
I will being on a merge ramp to the highway rolling along and waiting to pull out into the flow of traffic. I'll be traveling along at a constant speed, say 30 mph, with constant pressure on the throttle waiting for my opening in traffic. I will see my opening and floor it. That's when (sometimes) the car seems to get very confused. It doesn't shift back right away, it lingers in 3rd (or OD) and picks up a tiny bit of speed. Then, it hesitates with no acceleration, and then roughly shifts to 2nd or 1st. It feels more like it forces itself into gear and, once in gear, it accelerates like it should.
The biggest issue for me is that this whole process takes about 3 or 4 seconds. That's not very long, but when you're trying to merge onto the highway or cut into traffic, 3 seconds is the difference between being safe and a close call.
Transmission fluid appears to be full, is a nice red color, and doesn't smell burnt.
How to disable the auto door locks but I have the opposite problem. Mine were not enabled and I would like them to be. Looking for instructions for enabling the auto door locks? 2010 s, no smart key, manual transmission.
View 14 RepliesMy 2010 Corolla S used to always lock itself after I parked my car and left it idle for a moment or so. For instance, when I walk away from my car after parking it would auto-lock the doors. Now when I leave it, the doors remained unlock and I have to lock it myself each time. How to change it back somehow? I want to set it back in-case I ever do forget to lock it manually, it could save a lot of hassles.

View 5 RepliesI bought these lights on ebay. It was direct replacement for stock and it has Fan and ballast built in. Light is good and all good but im hearing some low frequency humming noise when im inside car and waiting in any traffic light.
I also opened the hood and tested it is there but less. Im hearing more in cabin. When i turn off the lights its gone. Is it the fan ? How to control it.

I have a 1993 Base, a 2006 LE, a 2007 LE, and a 2013 LE. All of them Except the 2013 have automatic headlights. That is: you get into the car, start the engine, and drive away with the headlights on. Then later when you turn off the key and get out of the car the headlights are either automatically off or go off soon after.
But on the 2013 the headlights just stay on or off unless manually switched on or off with the stalk switch. Am I missing something here? Why would the 2013 LE Not have this very convenient feature when even my 1993 Base model with zero options Does have it?
Why does the automatic transmission stay in 3rd gear and not shift into overdrive until it gets warmed up? It is so annoying. This is the only car that has ever done this. Even the camry I don't think does this. Especially the fact that the rpms stay above 1k rpm until the engine is warmed up.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 corolla s and I started to notice that when I was at red lights with the car in drive my rpm's would drop to around 600 but it would only do it randomly, or so i thought until one day I was at a light and turned the ac on and my rpm's went back up to 800 so I turned it off and the rpm's dropped again, turned on the headlights and they went back up.
View 14 RepliesI've got a 2013 Corolla S with an upgraded sound system. Well when the vehicle is running and its in park or stopped and I turn the wheel, the headlights dim. My headlights also dim if I roll up more than one window at a time. I've been slowly trying to narrow down the issue but with no such luck. I have a 1600 watt amplifier and two, 800 peak watt subwoofers.
View 4 RepliesThis is what I was afraid of, left stranded. Typical morning when it is dark when you start but sunny by the time you arrive at destination. Our 2012 S does not have the automatic headlights like our 2010 LE. I did not notice this when I bought the car, just thought that a newer more expensive model would have equal features, but it did not. Not only that, but the 2012 does not even have a basic headlight safety feature that has been in Corollas and other cars for years where the headlights go off after 20 minutes when left on in order to save the battery, or even like my old Volvos where the headlights turn off when the ignition key is turned off and removed. There is a warning buzzer, but the volume is so low that most will never hear it. As a result I had to purchase a lithium jump start battery to carry with me in case this happens again. Makes me question the integrity of Toyota when they cheapen out the car in the areas of safety...i.e., leaving someone stranded.
