What Model Number Automatic Transmission does the 2012 LE have?
When was the first year they used this transmission?
Has this transmission been used in any other cars?
Does it have the reliability record Toyota is known for, or is it too early to tell?
I want to know if its possible to swap in the 5 speed automatic transmission from the corolla xrs to the 1.8 trying to get that extra gear and sequential shift mode , or how it could be done a 4speed to 5 speed manual swap?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Corolla S with automatic transmission. Today it started giving a push or a jerk when the 1st gear drops, so from 1st going to 2nd it pushes or jerks the car ahead. Not sure what is wrong with it, it has 56000 miles on it.
View 14 RepliesMy sis has a 09 corolla le and was fine until 4months back. Her STOP fuse #9 would blow. She took it in to toyota, they replace her fuse for her and let her go.. A month later it happen she took it back and they replace it again, so about a week later it happen. Now the Toyota guy tries to check it and but cant find out the problem and tells her that she needs to go see an electrician... he replace for her and gave her extras for the long run... recently until now it was running fine, then it happen again, the #9 fuse blew up yesterday and today!... Her brake lights won't come on when she steps on it and it wont go into drive from park unless she press on that bypass switch.. I know that there could be a shortage somewhere..

View 2 RepliesI have a OEM base model head unit and today both front speakers stopped working out of nowhere I pulled the head unit out to see if everything was plugged in and it all was snug.. I checked all the fuses too. Is there any other way to check to see if its my head unit thats bad or the speakers? And I guess my second question is if I replace my head unit with a aftermarket one do I still need to retain the stock unit? My sunfire had that problem I needed to put my oem radio in the trunk and hook it into my new aftermarket one. I did try adjusting the fade and all the setting too with no luck.
View 3 Repliesi have an 09 corolla s auto.i wanted to change it so it would not unlock when you put it into park. i read the manual Page 42. it says to
step 1: turn key to on position (engine off)
step 2: shift the lever to p or n(for stick). and press the the lock button for approximately 5 seconds and then let go to activate or deactivate the auto locking. or if you push and hold the unlock it activates or deactivates the auto unlocking.
well they don't say to wait for the seat belt chime, when you hear the chime push and hold the lock or unlock button depending on what you want and release just prior to the end of the chime. -- they don't say this in the book, but this is the only way to get it to work.
Subject Vehicle: 2013 Corolla LE
I have a 1993 Base, a 2006 LE, a 2007 LE, and a 2013 LE. All of them Except the 2013 have automatic headlights. That is: you get into the car, start the engine, and drive away with the headlights on. Then later when you turn off the key and get out of the car the headlights are either automatically off or go off soon after.
But on the 2013 the headlights just stay on or off unless manually switched on or off with the stalk switch. Am I missing something here? Why would the 2013 LE Not have this very convenient feature when even my 1993 Base model with zero options Does have it?
My light when off on my Automatic Shifter Selector Panel (View Attach Pic) on my 2013 Corolla S. I hate turning on my interior lights just to see if I'm in reverse or neutral.
View 3 RepliesMy son has a 09 Vibe 1.8L automatic and it won't start. Among other things, I also I want to check to see if it has spark and fuel pressure.
First of all, can I check for spark by looking at the signals into the coil packs? I realize that this won't actually tell me if there is spark at the plugs, but I'd like to know if the ECU is commanding spark or not. One of the coil packs was replaced a couple of months ago, so I'm fairly confident that it is OK. And it's hard to believe that all of the rest of them would suddenly have a problem.
As far as the fuel pressure is concerned, I don't see a valve on the fuel rail to connect a standard fuel pressure gauge. I'm assuming that I need to some how tap a gauge into the rubber supply line, prior to the metal line going to the fuel rail, but I'm not sure this is the recommended way.
Toyota corolla 2013 automatic gear reverse lights don't work after I installed new stereo it's my fault i shorted 12v positive backup (reverse) light trigger camera stereo v12+ cable to ground while backup (gear R) in place. As a result reserve lights don't work beside gear indicator doesn't show on main screen. I can drive without problem but problem still intact.
I checked all fuses and they are all okay I need to identify problem or possible repair too I only find 2 fuses behind glove box i think they call "instrument panel" there are bunch of cable and underneath of cables there is only 2 rectangle shape fuses I could not see anything else, the other fuse box is in engine compartment i thoroughly tested each small fuses they are all okay is there anything else i forgot to check ?

I was looking to lower my 2012 Corolla after seeing torres 16 running 18x10 all around on his car. I fell in love with his Corolla and have been craving to do something similar. Now here's the flip side. I am absolutely clueless about the in-and-outs of stance work or being "slammed". I was thinking running 18x10 all around is a bit too much and was looking to run 18x9.5 Grids - if I could find them new. I'd like to sit "flush." What offset would be recommended? From what I saw on wheeldude, they only come in +20 or +38. Would this be possible on BC coilovers? I'd like to achieve a look similar to Jzen 16 or torres 16. Would I be better off running an air suspension setup? The downfall is they get ridiculously costly.
View 14 RepliesI am trying to change the oil on my dad's 2012 corolla LE, and this is the first oil change since it's been out of the 25k mile service plan. I ordered the exact 64mm 14 flute wrench and the filter housing WILL NOT unscrew. I have looked at several videos online and I am sure I'm going the right way. I have tried kicking it, hitting it with a rubber mallet... and nothing! My friend has a breaker bar we are gonna try to use in a little while... Is there any history of dealerships sabotaging this kind of thing so you have to bring it back?

My transmission seems to slip when it is shifting from 3rd into 4th. The second that it shifts into 3rd gear the rpm drops and shifts into 4th (This is when i have light to medium pressure on the pedal). If i push the pedal down 3/4 of the way once the transmission shifts into third then the rpm rise for at least 4-5 seconds (which seems more normal). In addition the shifts are a bit rough when the transmission is shifting up or down.I am looking for some insight before having a dealership jerk me around.
My transmission blew out at 64000 kms.
At first I thought it was my calipers - on my breaks that were frozen. Very laggy when I was driving there one day - took the car into car wash sprayed the breaks with hot water. Then Air Dried the with compressed air from compressor.
Next day while driving to work - the car got really sluggish again and this time there was a funny sweet smell coming through my vents.
Stopped car - called tow truck to take me to break shop - When tow truck arrives - He lifts my car up and there is a dark red fluid under transmission.
Called the right place because they also do transmission work.
I just bought a 2013 Barcelona Red Corolla S in Manual transmission. Already, I've noticed how rough the transmission is when I shift. But it's only roughy when I first step on the clutch. But if I keep the clutch pedal down, all the gears shift smoothly, until I release the clutch and press it down again, then the first shift is really rough. Especially REVERSE, when I shift into reverse, it's so rough that it shakes the car. There's no grind, just very rough. It sounds like someone cocked a shotgun. Everything is smooth when driving tho, only happens at full stop.
View 14 RepliesI now have 500 Miles on my LE. Driven soft Never over 2,500 rpm except, one time I accelerated to 4,500 RPM in first. Short 5 Mile trips.
Engine knock on start-up (Lasts one second)
sounds like a lifter pumping up.
Only happens occasionally.
Happened last night after driving 40 Miles and parking it for two hours.
Is this normal? I have noticed this since the first 10 Miles on the odometer. Figured it was the 0W-20 Oil.
My friend has a 2003 Echo with 100,000 miles and it does not do this.
New owner of a used 2012 corolla. I only have one remote key. After digging through google and ebay. I brought a set of new remote keys with the known warning that I have to take it to the dealer for programming.
What tools to get to have this program by myself. It just cost too much over $150 from dealer just to program a key not counting over $250 dollar for the key itself.
I have a 2012 corolla le and I'm looking into getting TRD lowering springs as I don't want to go too low and they work with the stock strut, however; I read that they work best with the XRS' shock and strut (might be just the strut but I'm not sure), my question is what are the XRS' struts called and where would I find them, also from what year would the XRS' struts fit on my le?
