I have a 2011 Corolla S with approximately 11,500 miles. It has been regularly serviced at a Toyota dealership. The oil level is checked regularly and is full. Today I heard a slight but noticeable tapping sound when the motor is in the 1800-2100 rpm range. it is quiet throughout the rest of the engine's power band. Could this be a serious problem in the making?
View 6 RepliesI bought a use 2009 Matrix S 2.4L (2AZ-FE) with about 81000 miles on it. when the car is at idle i hear a light tapping sound on the passenger side. It sounds like the engine but am not sure what it might be. What is causing the tapping sound and how to fix it? (i saw some ppl post about the OCV.) The car also has a light vibration when am at a stop n in gear. Its annoying because i bought a car not a tractor.
View 6 RepliesMy 2010 Corolla LE with 1.8L engine with auto transmission has about 37,400 miles on it. Ever since I bought it with 7k miles I notice a slight knock/ping sound when I accelerate up to 40 mph. The car is certified up to 100k.
Also, on cold starts recently, it seems to make a loud noise. Hard to describe but it's almost like something is grinding for a second or two. This does not seem to happen all the time.
Is the range display on your corolla accurate? I had the Driver Information Center on my last car (2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab SLT) and it was dead on for MPG and Range display. I have a 2012 Corolla S, and I let it get low on gas for the first time since I bought it, I got it down to 18 miles to empty, which should be a half gallon of gas. when I filled it up, it only took 10.7 gallons, on a 13.2 gallon tank. that means there was 2.5 gallons, plus whatever fits in the filler tube, still in the tank, almost 90 extra Miles! Is it just my car?
View 3 RepliesWhen the engine is fully warmed up no heater on, after driving about 7-8 miles in city my engine would make a fluttering/tapping noise between 1900-2700rpm at 5-30mph during light acceleration. its rotational noise definitely from engine. noise is light, to hear it all windows has to be up. noise can be heard when powerbraking as well
i had taken it to hayward toyota, dublin toyota and fremont toyota total about 4-5 times. some would lie to my face saying they cant hear the noise, some would say its normal. i used to be a mechanic now im a service advisor at nissan. always had confident in toyota bought 2 of them at the end of 2013 before i started working at nissan.
I had my shopforeman looked at it couldnt figure it out. had my master tech looked at it couldnt figure it out. both informed me this has to be looked at by a toyota mechanic to see if this is an issue they had ran into before or call a toyota engineer.
I have a 2010 Corolla S with 130k miles and started developing what felt like a slight misfire at idle. Dealer suggested change the plugs and if not that try the coils. So I got the wrong plugs givin to me there 5/8s not 14mm. I found a socket that worked and thought the old ones where the same as the new ones.
The 5/8 socket fell right in and knew it wasn't the right size after the plug wasn't tuning. Then I searched and found out there 14mm plugs. So now the socket is stuck inside the metal tube that goes into the head. I tried a locking extensions, long needle nose, hook with a slide hammer, pb blaster, heat, crc freeze off. Even tried spinning it as pulling up with an impact.
I have a 2010 Corolla LE with approx 63k miles. The problem I am having is when approaching about 45 mph, a slight rattle begins to make noise and it gets faster/louder as my speed increases. It is a noise that sounds like something is vibrating on the inside of the dash/in the engine bay. I have opened up the glove box and replaced the cabin air filter, and even drove around with the glove box dropped down to see if the noise is coming from the interior. It sounded the same with the glove box dropped down. I have done research with the service bulletins and even secured the washer hose suspecting that was the problem but it made no difference.
It is very frustrating to me because it does not seem to be affected by anything but speed. After hitting 45 mph it begins and will go away after going below 45. Changing any of the AC/blower knobs makes no difference. It does not seem to change the way the vehicle performs in any way either. Just an annoyance more than anything!
My truck has 57k miles on it. At 1800-2100 RPM it whines under or over it is just fine. it has a new air filter in it as well, still makes the noise, it doesn't matter what gear i am in, it only does this under load. if i free rev it , it will not do it.

On the passenger side when I apply slight pressure to the headliner, I get the following noise. In person it sounds like plastic tubes knocking around. The driver's side does not do this.
i own a 2010 corolla s with only 3000 miles on it. it is a 5 speed and the other day, when revving out 3rd gear to 5500 rpm, my motor started missing, and my check engine, vsc, and trac control lights came on. i turned off the motor and then started it back up and it ran fine but the dummy lights stayed on. i took it to the dealer and they check the codes and it showed that cylinder 2 missed. after explaining to them how it happened and taking a service technician for a ride, they took off the valve cover on my motor, and seen that 3 rocker arms had FALLEN OFF and they tried making me pay $700 to fix it because i was "over revving the motor". I was told that the rocker arms cant withstand that high of rpms and they will fall off due to the floating design "not bolted". but after 2 hours of arguing, they said they would cover it, but only this 1 time. I don't understand why they have the rev limiter set at 6,300 on these cars, when the rocker arms are capable of coming off at 5,500.

View 4 RepliesI just got a 2011 corolla le with 45k miles and the gas millage is terrible. I have a 2005 acura rsx and I drive about 20 miles a day and I can go a whole month without refilling. I Put in half a tank in our corolla and only got 115 miles out of it. I drive the same way I do in my acura which Is pretty fuel efficient. My car tells me I am getting 27 mpg. But if I calculated correctly (115miles /7 gallons= about 1 8 mpg, my acura will get nearly twice that millage. What do you think I need to do. I've only put 500-1000 miles on it and not sure when the last tune up was. Should I take it to Toyota?

View 8 RepliesClear water comes into car my Corolla 2011 on drivers side and both the passenger and drivers rear floor panels. I checked and not coming from the body. Think it's from A/C but it's a lot of water. Front passenger side is bone dry. Looks like it may be coming from the center console and spreading out. Could the A/C evaporator drain be plugged. If so where do I find the hose?
View 11 RepliesMy fiance has a 2011 Corolla LE. A couple years ago this weird smell started coming through her AC vents. It is intermittent happening when the car is parked or in drive. Once the smell comes through the AC the only way to make it stop it to push the AC button so that normal air blows through, turn outside air on, or switch the AC air speed a couple times, or just wait a minute or two. I changed the engine and cabin filter, sprayed the vents and everything else with cleaner and check the drain tube. I don't know what else to do.
View 3 RepliesI am having issues with my 2011 Matrix S. It started off bucking slightly when shifting. As time went on it started clunking at random. When it clunks, the whole car jerks violently then will start driving again. One time it clunked (if I wasn't wearing a seatbelt I would have been in the dash) I lost all power to my wheels while my car was revving at around 3000rpm, it did a large jerk/clunk and then I had power to my wheels again. Lately they have been just large clunks without losing wheel power. My car always seems to revv abnormally now and sometimes when trying to accelerate, I can have me petal to the floor and zero acelleration.
I've been in frequent contact with a Toyota dealer and they are great. I can't randomly recreate the episodes so it's hard for them to be able to diagnose the issue. I'm going to make an appointment for them to do a computer read to see if any codes have been thrown.
Can the beeping be deactivated when using the fob while unlocking the doors and/or opening the trunk? Cannot find anything in the online manual. if so, how is it done?

View 1 RepliesI remove the radio from my Matrix. When reinstalling the trim, I damaged the left have heater control (the one which controls where the air comes out). I put that back in, now the fan doesn't work. All the push butting on the AC controls light up when I want them to, but the fan doesn't work.
I don't have a repair manual or wiring diagram, but I figure it has to be something really simple. I have looked at the fuses (I think).
This is my 2011 Corolla S with Subaru Brz wheels. I got the entire set on October. It just took from a brand new Brz with Michelin Primacy HP tires. It looks on my corolla. Now I want put the Ei Bach Springs on my car, where is the good place to go?
View 2 RepliesI got my 2011 S Corolla brand new and it's been great thus far. To make things a little more exciting, I got a manual. The last manual I had was my 2006 325i so it's been a little while.
Over the past few weeks, both my wife and I are experiencing quite a bit of clutch shudder or chatter and are finding it more and more difficult to engage the clutch without completely shaking the car. We've noticed this the longer the car is driven. On cold starts it doesn't happen. I've read some horror stories of the tranny going out, a weak transmission mount, or a warped flywheel in these Corollas. We bought this car because it's supposed to be reliable and get good mileage. Also, I'm still under the powertrain warranty but I'm not sure if they'll cover the clutch.
I have not checked the transmission fluid yet either. I can really use some suggestions. I had a 318is for over 100,000 miles and never put a new clutch in it!!! I'm getting frustrated.
