We are currently driving home, and our Chrysler Town & Country's rear hatch door won't unlock and open, by key or handle, so our suitcases are trapped in back. We don't know if there's an easy fix, but we won't get home until Sunday, when our mechanic is closed. We'd like to unpack!

You can hear the motor running but it doesn't totally close...so I open and close manually. I looked in Chrysler service manual...could this be a power latch assembly?? How hard would it be to replace myself. The rear hatch is the same way have to manually open/close...can hear motor and it goes through motions but doesn't open. ???? Then today the rear wiper wouldn't work....
View 3 RepliesWhen I open the doors on my touareg, the rear hatch does not unlock. When I try to program it as an option to open the rear hatch when I unlock the doors, it works for awhile. But, it always goes back to not opening. I recall a few months ago a similar question or post about a solution, like reprogramming something else first or at the same time.

View 12 RepliesI am having problems with the rear hatch door not unlocking easily, have to lock and unlock multiple times before it releases. I have stripped and lubricated it and it works fine for a day. Also having issues with petrol cover release not working as well.
View 1 RepliesIf I unlock the car with the fob - two clicks - all doors unlock. However the rear drivers side passenger door always needs two pulls on the handle to open it. Both passenger side doors open from the outside on first pull, as does the drivers door, but the back door on the passenger side needs two pulls.
As far as I can tell all doors behave the same inside - one pull to open, unless the car is centrally locked, in which case two pulls.
The rear door of my 1998 Sport will not open. It is unlocked and I can press the handle but the door will not open. I have been able to partially pull back the inside panel (not easy because the bottom of the panel is attached to the closed door) and it I can see the lock/unlock works okay and pressing the outside level works the rod to the latch connecting the door to the car body. But I cannot see where to pull the latch open and cannot locate any diagrams on the internet. I have sprayed some lubricant inside,, no effect. My thought is that if I can get the door open and remove the inside panel the repair may not be to complicated.
View 10 RepliesI traded my 08 R32 for a certified 2013 GTI Autobahn 4 dr. and have noticed a few quirks or issues. I have had several Vw's and my wife currently has a 2010 Tiguan SEL awd. The car goes in on the 10th to see what the dealer can find out. I bought the car with roughly 9400 miles and it has 11,300 on it now.
Issue 1 - The passenger side door handle does not pull smoothly to open. When you pull on it it goes about half way and stops and then you have to pull it again or harder. I am thinking it is an alignment issue.
Issue 2 - When i first start driving after the car has sat overnight in the garage or in the parking lot at work I get a swirling sound from the rear brakes. I do set the parking brake every time it is parked. It is almost like the brakes are not releasing all the way or rub for a little.
Issue 3 - This is the one that is odd and concerns me. When i first start driving the car takes several minutes to come up to 190 degrees. I baby the car till it gets up to temp for the turbos sake. But oddly after it gets up to temp with in 5 minutes it is like the thermostat opens and it cools back down to 150-160 and then comes back up to temp. My wife's car does not do this and neither did the 07 Passat 2.0t. Is this common? When talking to the service advisor (who I have been dealing with for a while) he said he has never had this issue come up.

I never open any door but the driver's door with the key. Several months ago, for some reason it occurred to me to try and see if they worked.
Nope, both the rear hatch and passenger's door lock would not open with the key. I assumed that the mechanism corroded up over lack of use over the years.
I thought, Well, crud. But, since I haven't used those door locks in over 12 years, I can probably get by.
I thought I had lost the spare car key when I was in Texas in December. To my surprise, I saw it on the key rack in the kitchen here in rural Mexico. I took it out to the car to check it out, and it opens all the doors.
I compared the keys, and one of the 'vanes' on the key I use all the time is a very tiny bit smaller than on the spare key. My guess is either that key never opened those two doors and I never noticed it. Or, it has worn over 12 years.
So, I guess when I get back to the States, I will have a copy made of the spare key. I am also going to post this on Sienna Chat for obvious reasons.
Is there a good way to relieve static electricity? I get a shock almost every time I get out of my van and close the door.
View 13 RepliesBasically what the title says, my brothers 2002 accent front doors won't open from the inside when you pull on the handle, no matter how many times, both sides before it was just the rear doors doing this, and I can't seem to find the child safety switch, but now the same thing is happening on the front doors, and since everything is electric this is pretty bad if the electrical system dies and you have to get out of the car, what the heck is going on?
View 14 RepliesWhy do my wipers pop up about 2" each time the horn blows when the door is opened? They don't pop up if the car is running and I blow the horn myself. My local Chrysler service center has attempted to fix the problem twice without success. Once by replacing the door harness and then by replacing the multifunction switch. The problem is still there and my warranty is running out!

If one were to go and say have the passenger of the vehicle tap the passenger side front door handle will that unlock the car in the same regards as touching the drivers door handle? For example if I were putting something in the trunk and had the FOB in my pocket and the passenger wanted to get in but I still had the FOB could they unlock the car the same way I would with the driver's door? My car does not allow the passenger to unlock the doors. Can it be programmed to have this work? Furthermore, is there a way to program the drivers door handle to unlock all the doors instead of just the drivers side door?
View 11 RepliesToday I took the car in for the 15k service, I asked them to reprogram the car so that when I touch the driver door handle it would unlock all 4 doors. I went to my car this afternoon and this did not happened as I wanted.

View 9 RepliesI accidentally closed the hatch door on a terry towel and now my hatch won't open. When I use the key fob to unlock the doors, I hear the click. It allows me to lock the door. The dash does not indicate that any doors are left open.
I've tried clearing as much of the towel out as possible. I've tried to follow these instructions to manually open the hatch using the lever but am not sure if I'm pulling the lever with the correct amount of force for fear of real damage.
How to set the car so that when you touch the door handle it unlocks all the doors and not just the drivers door. I have a SE with Nav.
