1. Changed oil
2. Flushed ATF fluid
3. Cleaned throttle body
4. Cleaned MAF sensor
I did all of these one right after the other and when I rolled out to test drive, the car shuddered and now the engine is making weird noises. I don't want to turn the car on again or drive it.
I have the 5 cylinder. Anyway, after I turn the car off and get out, I can hear the engine making some clicking noises. Always been curious what that is. Also, when I unlock the car and open the door, I hear a high pitch sound. Is that the fuel pump priming in anticipation?

My 2008 ex Honda Civic. Engine: (140hp 1.8-Liter SOHC 16-Valve i-VTEC 4-Cylinder 5-Speed Automatic with Grade Logic Control).
In the mornings, when I start it, it shakes & makes a hollow shaking noise in the engine compartment. This noise is normally more noticeable after having it parked overnight or not driving it for a few hours. The shaking noise is more pronounced after being parked overnight, starting it, & also putting it in reverse. After driving it for 30min, the noise & shaking stops.
My new 2013 prius c engine makes buzzing, whirring, clicking noises, especially when speeding up or slowing down. Why?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 Camry 'SE Automatic with almost 18,000 miles - that's right, low mileage. This week the steering wheel started making squeaky noises when I turn it. It doesn't matter which way I turn, it will squeak and it doesn't happen all the time. Should I be worried and what can I do about it?
NOTE: This started happening the day after we had got an 1 or 2 of snow. That morning when I opened the door to get the brush/scraper and little snow fell in the driver's side of the car. Perhaps a little fell on the steering wheel.
Engine oil has been changed and spark plugs changed. The engine is still making rattling/clicking noise. I checked with a mechanic and he indicated that engine needs to be repaired. Didn't say exactly what needs to be done and stated it would cost about $2200 for parts and labor. Why the engine keeps rattling and making the noise? Oh, before plugs were changed, the engine was shutting off at times when in idle mode.
View 5 RepliesI accidentally left my car on overnight and my battery was dead in the morning, of course. I got it jumped and I drove all the way to work, but every time I slowed down at a light or for traffic the car started shaking. It has to be fairly slow before it starts happening, say 15-10 mph or lower. It never did this before the battery went dead, and it stops as soon as I gave the car any amount of gas at all. I'm hoping this is just a temporary side-effect of having to jump the battery. What the problem might be?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2010 Sonata V6 that I bought new. It has a little less than 50K on it. I tried to start it today and it made a terrible noise then died seconds later. I popped the hood and then started it again and the engine was shaking violently in the engine compartment and making a terrible knocking noise. I had driven it 12 hours earlier and it ran fine. I called a tow truck and had it taken to the dealer but if I know my dealer, since it is Sunday they probably wont get to it until Tuesday. Also, this car has had the signature V6 valve cover leak that has been fixed 3 times. I noticed it was leaking again about a month ago and I have just been checking the oil and adding it as it needs it. I dont think the engine ran out of oil because I checked it before the tow truck came and it was between low and full.

It seems to maybe happen when it wants to gear down but it I give it the slightest gas it quits. Do you check the ans fluid when it's hot or cold? I checked it hot and it ran out.

Car is 2006 Chrysler 300C with 5.7L Hemi motor, 90,000 miles, all lifters replaced last summer - noise was apparent before new lifters. Dealership is stumped - they do not believe it is a problem with new lifters.

I noticed 3 distinctive noises; All of them coming from the front weel(s).
1) While driving, the car makes a boiling-kettle like sound, all the time.
2) Also while driving, it occasionally makes a taping sound (like tapping shoes). I checked all four tires and none have pebbels or nails/metal stuck to them. I do not know how or why it is making such sound
3) Finally, while breaking, the front wheels (specially the front left; driver side) makes a horrible loud squeaky sound.
After a long drive, I stopped worrying about the noises. I inspected the tires and noticed that both front wheels (rims) were super hot. I compared the temperature with the ones on the back and they where cold.

I have a shake in the front end. It is similar to driving on a rocky surface and it shakes the whole vehicle. It occurs between 40 and 55 MPH and when I'm climbing a hill. At other speeds it is fine. If I let off the gas then it is fine as it coasts, even at those defined speeds.
I've replaced the struts and the wheel bearings and an outer tie rod. I had the front end aligned and balanced the two front tires.
Ok, 2 months ago my car was funny.It was making a knocking noise's ,and it wouldn't go over 40sh..Now it just wont turn over..Some ppl say it the Timing Belt, Broken rod Etc...

I took it for a service and they changed spark plugs air filter and brake pads. Since then it's been making a whoop noise when the aircons on.
It's like an air escaping noise. Only comes when the aircons on and when stopped at lights or something. Ive read about Hondas making similar noise due to faulty thermal expansion valves wonder whether it's the same in my case. If so how much will it cost to fix?
I have a Chrysler 300m 2004, 3.5. I have done a replacement of the timing belt at 100 000 mark with a chrysler dealer.
It has been misfiring for a while since. I brought it to a dealer who told me that the camshaft crankshaft and oxygen sensors need to be changed. So I did. (camshaft and crankshaft were changed with the dealer. Oxygen sensor was changed with independent with generic not factory sensor because the dealer did not have it.)
It did not solve the problem. Now the car is shaking and sometimes cannot accelerate. I even change spark plugs and battery. I brought it to an independent, the mechanic told me that there is 3.8 degrees difference between cam and crankshaft sensors. They are out of sync and suggest that I should bring back to the dealer who replaced the timing belt.
When I brought the car to the dealer, they told me that chrysler 300m 2004 tolerates up to 12 degrees difference so the cam and crankshaft are not out of sync. Nothing to do with the timing belt that they installed. I called the independent mechanic but he told me that in general it's 1 to 1.6 degree.
I have a 2000 VW Passat V6. Last night when I got home I noticed that the fan wouldn't stop and it was making a different noise than usually (ocasionally when I get home the fan keeps running for several minutes which seems to be normal, but yesterday the noise that was coming from the fan was different). Today the battery was completely dead.
I've been reading different forums, and it looks like it can be either a problem with one of the fans, or fan relay. How can I diagnose the problem?
Recently I had my oil changed (do it every 3500 miles) . Normally I do not drive many miles per day, but about 5 days after the change I noticed my valves making a noise... I thought it was a stuck lifter....put in some mystery oil...all was fine until I again noticed the clacking lifter after driving 15-20 miles highway....I then checked my receipt from the oil change and it showed they installed .5w30 not the 10w30or even 5w30 weight oil recommended. I took my jeep to another place and had the oil changed again with 10w30 oil and all is fine now...my question is... I drove with the .5w30 oil for about 6 weeks and 800 miles... did this potentially damage my engine?
View 14 RepliesI own a Toyota Camry that has about 180,000 miles. Yesterday, when I started the car, a high pitched whine occurred when the engine turned and the volume of the whine decreased after about 5 minutes (car was in park). The pitch of the whine increases when I accelerate, up to about 50 mph, and then the whine stops around the 50 mph mark. When the car decelerates, the pitch of the whine decreases. This does not seem to be linked in any way to the steering. The whine does occur when the car idles.
There are no alert lights on in the dashboard, only an odd noise.
When spooling my turbo, or even when im in idle, it almost sounds like there is a leaf inside it. the noise was barley noticeable before, but now its quite loud. What this could be.
