Celica :: Installing Headers On A 95 Toyota GT?

Sep 23, 2011

I would like to install headers on my 95 GT, but have never done this on any vehicle before. Is it just a matter of removing the old exhaust manifold, and reconnecting the new header? Any tricks, or surprises??? Also, any recommendations on brand, and or website to order from. I do not want to drop a lot of money, but do want to get at the very least a decent quality product. Also, can this be done without getting under the car? I can get under the front end for oil changes, etc., but do not have access to a lift at all.

Toyota - Celica :: Installing Top Timing Cover?

I'm having a devil of a time trying to reinstall the top timing cover. i remember it being tough to get off. I jack the engine up as high as i feel comfortable and it does not seem to fit. is there a trick to it, or do you just have to bend the plastic and hope you don't break something?

supplemental question:

how high can you jack up the motor before you break the drivetrain?

Toyota :: 1993 - Installing Thermostat On Custom Built Coolant System?

I purchased my 1993 Toyota from someone who modded a bunch of stuff in the engine, including putting in a header, taking out the Catalytic convertor, removing the A/C compressor and moving/rewelding different pipes (including the cooling system pipes).

Anyway, I've noticed that it's heater has never worked, and I just figured I needed to replace the thermostat. In the stock engine, you need to drain the coolant system, and then remove the bottom radiator hose. I did that, and discovered that when he welded the new coolant pipes on, he failed to put in mounts for a thermostat, and there was no thermostat there. Is this fixable at all, or am I stuck without a thermostat (and heating in the winter?)

I have plenty blast from the heater fan but I don't think it's running warm enough. I had a new thermostat installed but it didn't seem to make any difference.

I recently purchased a 1996 Celica. The car looks amazing and drives well. On top of it's reliability, the vehicle is an absolute blast to drive!!!!! However, it seems to be burning oil. I was told to switch from 5w-30 oil to 10w. A thicker weight would work.

Celica :: 2003 Toyota Stalls When Outside Temp Is 90 Or Above

2003 Toyota Celica GT-5 speed. I live in South Florida and last summer, when the temp got above 90 and the car was driven for about an hour and half, it would act as if it were out of gas. After pulling over and waiting for about and hour, the car would start up and run fine for about another hour, and then the same thing-stalled. I had fuel filter cleaned, injectors cleaned, did not work. Next mechanic- said the gas cap was bad, replaced it-3 times! Did not work. 3rd Mechanic- Replace coil packs. That was in September. The car ran fine. Drove it to Denver, Pennsylvania-twice and various other road trips. Ran like a champ. Thought, great, its fixed. Didn't think much about it again until two weeks ago.

Was driving to PA and the temp spiked 90 in Virginia and here we go again. 4th Mechanic- replaced the catalytic converter $1,000.00 Assured me 100% that was the problem. Picked it up earlier this week. Drove from Virginia to Jacksonville- 8 hours, no problem until it got hot out and again it began to sputter. I nursed it to the side of the road, sat until dark and drove it 6 hours home in the dark at 80 mph and no problem. It's only when it's hot out and I'm driving further than an hour. I just dropped it off at Mechanic 5. I don't want to replace more parts and continue to have the same problem. Codes read gas cap problem?!?!?

Celica :: 92 Toyota GT Cuts Off During Shift / Acceleration

I have a 92 Toyota GT...2 Door...2.2 liter engine...5 Speed ... It has just over 182,000 miles...ENGINE STRONG!

My Car has Been Cutting Off During Acceleration into 2nd Gear... At first I thought it was my battery post and the Grounded wire which was frayed, I replaced with New... problem persisted...I bought a new terminal for the Post...After Stopping and Going..

(When Car Cuts off...You can Crank it right up...No Problem...Began to accelerate and Cut off.. Start it...and go..Decide to Press Gas Down and ride the Clutch and Gas While Shifting and car Stays Cranked but I look like a Rookie Behind the Wheel and will Burn out My Clutch..So.. After I stopped and raised the Hood....I took the Negative Post Off...and Car Shut Off.. Bought a New Alternator...BAM...That's The Problem.. NOT!!..

4 Days later...Start out the parking lot...Car Cuts off..Same Problems All over again.. I took the Alternator to be checked..Fine..I took the Battery to be Checked and charged..Fine.. What Could Cause the Car To Cut Off after I hit 20 + Miles and Up..between Shifts....it Dies..? I need to Get to My New Job..and It's my only Means of Transportation...

Celica :: 1992 Toyota GTS Idle Goes From 0 - 500 RPM In Neutral

It's a 1992 Celica, GTS 2.2L for reference.

After driving down the highway I noticed my temp fluctuated from half way to full and bounced around until I arrived at the closest Canadian Tire/Station. I looked under the hood and noticed the stain on the coolant container wasn't the actual level of coolant. I then topped off the coolant and parked the car for about a week. When I tried to start her up, I was faced with a weak and poor idle. Almost as if the car is struggling to run. I have had times in the recent years in the summer months were I felt I had to pump the pedal on really hot days to kickstart her so she would run. Was this a warning sign? Other than this problem I face, the car runs smooth. I did a good tune up 2 years back, replacing the ignition coil, plugs, etc..

The idle goes from 0 - 500RPM in neutral and when I apply gas it struggles to gain power. The car is parked, I don't dare to take her around the block. It stutters and seems like she is struggling to get fuel. I say that because, when the key is turned to the on position I do not hear the fuel pump underneath the back seat activate. I did try jumping the terminals, something like B+ and FP.... The pump turned on and I heard fuel but when I started the car, I still had the same problem. I would need to pump gas or she would stall out. I do not know where the fuel line is to try and check the pressure or even where the relay is located.

Could it be the Fuel Pump?
Could it be the Fuel Pump Relay?
Something Else?

My guess is the Fuel Pump, but if you could take a few mins and replay that would be great. I have had my Celica for about 7 years and I would like to keep her going!

When I got home I let it set over night. The next day I poured some more water in it instantly it poured it on the ground never cranked it or anything. It is pouring it out of the left side of the motor. I thought it was hg but I checked the oil no milky look to it I checked all around the water pump and the two main radiator hoses nothing. I can borrow it down between the oil filter and the front of the motor but just. Can't find the source.

Celica :: 1993 Toyota Power Lag After Warmed Up

I have a '93 Toyota Celica Standard transmission. Recently it's been lagging in power. Only happens after it's warmed up. I'll be driving along and it just seems to lose power. Have to stomp on the gas to get it to kick in. Also, at the same time, when stopped it idles really low. Cold, no problem. Took it to Toyota dealer to have it diagnosed. I Stated that it might be the MAF sensor. They checked it out and said it needed a major tune up (to the tune of $700!) Now, I know it needs a tune up, but the symptoms don't seem to correlate to that being the problem. I asked about the MAF sensor and they said no diagnostic codes came up. Is it possible the air filter is clogged? Can the sensor malfunction intermittently?
