Celica :: 1996 - Back Window Has Come Loose / Trunk Leaks After A Rain
Apr 19, 2012
have a 96 celica gt convertible - back window has come loose (have it duct taped) - is it possible i could glue it back myself? so expensive to get a new curtain installed! no one will glue it.also, other problems: antenna motor stopped, ti subsequently broke off. need new top motors. trunk leaks horribly after a rain, coming from the front, behind the license plate or taillights, accumulated under the spare tire about 3 inches of water.

I have a new 2015 Accord. After a recent rain storm I found about an inch of water in the well where the spare tire is stored. I took it to the dealer and they ran numerous leak tests but could not reproduce the problem.
Since the car was parked during the storm, I don't see how the water could have gotten in there except via one of the light assemblies or by getting past the gasket. In other words, it wasn't blown up into the trunk from the roadway. The puzzler is that the carpet in the car was dry when I found the water. I googled this for hours and I don't find others with 2015 trunk leak complaints. All the complaints are for earlier model Accords.

I have an 02 extended cab F150 and whenever it rains the rear window leaks (it doesnt have a slider, it's solid) and the half doors leak too... i sealed the back window with caulk to try and fix it and it worked for about 2 storms and then it started to leak again. The side doors leak at the seam where they meet the front doors... Should i order new seals for the windows? or is there a simpler way to do it that isnt as expensive..

I have a 94 ford explorer and the back hatch leaks every time it pours rain. I noticed on the drivers side that there is a gap on the side of the hatch. Is there a way to adjust the hatch? The other side is fine.

Recently my 2013 Hyundai Elantra was subject to a hit and run. It is a new car with less than 2000 miles on it since October 2013. There was 9K in damage, most of which pertained to the back driver's side and the axle. Bumper, quarter panel, trunk floor, axle, wheel bearings, and two rims had to be replaced. Plus incidentals like tail lights and such. Because this is a new car, I received all new parts as a replacement. When the car was returned to me, the back seat kept getting wet in the rain.
After taking back to the shop twice, they finally diagnosed a small hole in the seal in a seam of the quarter panel area---something must have happened when putting everything back together. The door is fine and there is no moon / sun roof on the vehicle. I do not completely understand what this means. I know some basics about cars, but not to this level of detail. I searched by topic area and couldn't find anything that was related to this type of reason for water in the car.
Have the following questions: How a small hole in a quarter panel area would cause water to get into the back seat (on seat and floor)? What would be good things to watch out for post-fix? It is still a bit damp and rainy here, so I can't open the windows for things to dry out. Would have been nice for the collision center to dry the seats. How can I make sure mold/mildew won't develop?

I just got my new 2004 t-reg three weeks ago. We have experienced an onslaught of rain the past week here in the east and i noticed that my window leaks water into the tub of my trunk and down the back sidewall when the trunk is fully opened. Little droplets coming through and causing some serious soaking of my trunk area.

I found one fuse is blown. It's located under the driver side labeled "gauge." However, if I replace with good one (10A), it will be blown again once I turn on the power.
The gas indicator and back lights will work in the combination meter. The rests (turn-on check up indicators, coolant temp, odometer) won't work. The moonroof and power window don't work, either. Radio/CD does work. Engine has no problem to start.

For about 4 months now, water has been leaking into the passenger side of my truck. I popped off the kick panel near the door and poured water down the windshield near the bottom. Water comes out of a small hole in the metal behind the kick panel. 2005 GMC Sierra v6....

I first noticed the problem when my car started to smell funny. Then something fell on the floor in front of the passenger seat and when I picked it up, it was all wet. I had quite a puddle over there. I parked the car in the garage to get it dried out and I discovered that it was also wet under the driver's mat. My husband did some research online, and I guess there are about a million possible causes and they all have different solutions, so we are tempted to just trade it in. My husband decided to start with the sunroof.
He used an air compressor to blow through the drains. I thought that had worked until today. I've been parking my car outside in the rain for about a week, and the mats have not been wet, but last night I drove the car through a car wash and this morning the inside of the windshield was covered in condensation and the carpet was wet under the front floor mats. This morning I read that sometimes the air conditioning can be the problem. I had some trouble with the air conditioning the other day. It was really hot, but the air conditioner would only blow hot air, so I turned it off and rolled down the window, but the next day, when it wasn't quite so hot, the air conditioner seemed to work just fine.

I have a 2012 Toyota Yaris. My brother backed into a truck and now my trunk is off track, has a gap (you can see into the trunk, whole right side of trunk) and of course when it rains it gets into my trunk and into the back seat. I don't have the money to go to a body shop to get it fixed. So I was wondering how to go about fixing it. I live in Indianapolis and so far this spring we've had LOTS of rain. The smell is about to drive me crazy, I feel horrible because my 4 year old has to sit back there. I need to get it under control before mold sets in, if it hasn't already. I really don't want to wrap it in plastic but I feel like that's my only option. Is there some kind of sealer or foam I can use? I'm to the point that I don't care if I can't get into the trunk.

My 1988 Ranger has started leaking a gush of water onto the feet of passengers the first time I accelerate after a heavy rain. I saw the water flowing out from behind the glove box area as I started driving forward. How to fix this leak?

I installed a JDM 2ZZ-GE engine and 6 speed manual trans-axle into my 2000 Celica GT.
I have ran into a interesting problem. I replaced the output shaft seals and now whenever the car is in the air and the suspension is unloaded (the drive axle is pulled slightly from the trans) the drivers side seal leaks a bit of gear oil. The drive axle is snapped into place. Nothing leaks when the car is on the ground.
I did reuse the old drive axles, which had a lot of miles on them but still appeared good and useable. I have been told to replace the new seal because it may be damaged, but I am wondering if it may be that the drive axle end is worn.
I have seen this with harmonic balancers for engines. They even sell a replacement sleeve for harmonic balancers so you can re-use the old worn one.

My 96 Camry LE has an oil leak coming from what looks to be a bolt hole on the right side of the engine. She has 171K miles, good condition. I'm not entirely sure it's the rear main seal as people keep telling me.

My 330 had a new windshield installed prior to purchase and shortly after, the rain sensor module came loose. Cleaned things up and epoxied bracket in place, and about a year later it came loose again. Seems temperature related - a hot sunny day and the epoxy loses adhesion. I'm ready to try again but at odds as to what adhesive to use. Any long term successes out there?

I've got a 96 Toyota Camry, 4 cyl, that appears to be losing coolant. I do not see any apparent leaks. I've checked compression and all cylinders are 170lbs. Within the past year I've replaced the radiator and hoses, timing belt, water pump, etc. Within the past month I replaced the thermostat and radiator cap. I do see it bubbling in the overflow tank. Also you see vapor with the radiator cap off. I feel sure its probably a head gasket ..

My mother owns a 1996 Olds Eighty-Eight that has developed a magical ability plus another problem that multiple mechanics have failed to solve. Magic: The car, a few miles after an oil change and verifying the correct amount of oil was put in at the change, magically generates more oil to the point the level on the stick doubles. Problem: At the same time, the car has significant loss of transmission fluid, but no leak large enough to account for the loss. I suspect the two are linked, and one mechanic even said that there was a valve or something that could go bad or get stuck and allow the transmission fluid to get pulled into the oil, but no one has been able to definitively reach an answer or fix the issue.
