My rear brake makes a whining noise when I go on reverse. I know is brake related because while on reverse, if I barely touch the brake pedal the noise goes away. But without touching the brake pedal whines and sometimes loud and is embarrassing.

View 5 RepliesHere's my problem, I have a B5.5 1.8 5speed and my power steering makes a whining noise when Im turning. I checked the fluid and it's full. A few years ago on a roadtrip from CA to NM, my PS cooler hard pipe had a leak and drained all the fluid. It's was 11pm and still had 30 miles to get home and all I could get was Pennzoil PS fluid from Walgreens. So for the past 3 years I've been using Pennzoil PS fluid. Just recently it started making this noise. Luckily I picked up a 98 AEB parts car for $300 and my question is,
Would a power steering pump from my B5 fit my B5.5??? And, If the problem isn't my pump, would the PS rack fit also??
03 Xterra makes whining noise at 2200-2500 rpm. Noise goes away outside this range. At 3000 rpm sounds like tachy cable rattles. Have had Nissan check trans, diff, muffler. No luck.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 Honda Odyssey with over 100k miles. Recently, it has started making a loud whining noise (it reminds me of the sound my old manual transmission sedan would make when I was in second gear but needed to switch into third) when we drive at highway speeds (55 mph or more) for more than 20 minutes or so. The sound continues at lower speed and even when we go into park. It doesn't stop until we turn off the engine, but the next time we drive the sound doesn't start until we've been driving at high speeds for a while. It also intensifies when we make sharp turns. I took it to my mechanic who thought it was simply the fan coming on because our coolant was low, but we refilled that and it hasn't made a difference. Also the temp gauge doesn't show that or car is overheating.
View 8 RepliesI noticed my truck makes a high pitched whining noise. It does it at idle and while acceleration up to 40 mph or so. The pitch of the wine increases with RPM'S. It is not the cold start whine issue I have researched on YouTube.
It is in the cold or warmth. No difference. It's always there. My 2012 6.2 did not sound like this at all. I have crawled under the truck and it appears like it is coming from the transmission.
I bought a brand new 2016 Camry LE. Sometimes when car sits for a while, and I shift from P to R, there is a clunking noise with foot on the brake. I tried with the parking break engage and it still does it.

View 1 RepliesI have a 6-cyl, 2000 Camry that is making a scraping noise from the right rear brake. After driving it for a while I put my hand near the rotor and it was hot. The other side wasn't. I changed the pads and rotors yesterday and it's still making the noise. I'm guessing that there's something wrong with the caliper. Do I need to buy a new one? Can I rebuild the current one?

Should I add the gear oil additive to the rear end or change the rear end oil and add that? I am looking to sell the truck so what could cause this noise?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder and the ABS light comes on intermittently. Not only does the light come on, but sometimes when I apply the brakes, the brake pedal makes a grinding, vibrating sound that I can hear and feel under my foot, and feels as if the brake pedal is going to go all the way to the floorboard. If I quickly pump the brake, it stops that sound and the brake works fine.
I have taken the car to O'Rileys and Firestone and they put it on the analyzer. Two codes come up which indicate that the right front ABS was bad and/or an open circuit. I replaced the ABS sensor, but the problem described above persists. I took it back to Firestone and the same codes displayed. Firestone said it was an open circuit and that I should take it to the Toyota Dealer. I called the Dealer and they want $135 to analyze the car. They won't tell me what they will do in the analysis. I also took it to Just Brakes and they kept it for 3 days and could not or did not do much other than suggest I take it to the Dealership. I have read that the Dealership will probably say the ABS computer needs to be replaced ($1,000). I have also read that the 2007 Camry Hybrid ABS brake system has been recalled, although my Camry is NOT the hybrid.
There has had two fender benders on the left front side and the right front passenger tire hit a curb which bent the tire, but the tire has been balanced (not sure if the wheels were damaged in these minor accidents or if the wheels could be causing this?) Other thing that occurred right before the ABS light started coming on, and the brake issue, is that the air conditioner went toes up, and there were small metal fragments within the air condition housing unit. I replaced the whole A/C unit. I haven't been able to assess if one would have anything to do with the other, but it is interesting that the ABS and brake issue all started within a few days of the A/C unit being replaced.
I got a 2006 3.3l v6 sonata and for the past 6 month I have no had reverse which sucks let me tell you but I've looked into my codes it's throwing out. Anyway when I throw it in reverse it doesn't lock on it just spins making a kind of whining sound,
And when I'm driving it I take my foot off the gas or I slowly push the break it will jump down to third gear and get stuck I'll be doing 40mph at 4K RPMs, what this could be or what I should do?
Our 2013 RX350 has a brake pedal that makes a pretty loud noise when it snaps back after you depress it a little harder and take your foot off. I complained to my SA, and they told me it's normal. It's not a big deal, but any other car I have owned, I have never noticed such a thing.
View 12 Repliesi drove my car for the first time in a few weeks and i noticed when i brake my car makes a slight thumping noise and has a slight vibration. i looked at my brakes and they look fine, they are brand new, less then 5k miles on them.
i thought it was maybe i haven't driven them a while and it was from a rust and dirt built up, but its not.
not sure what it might be, tried to record a video but it didn't come out all that great.
The front pads on the R shift from one side of the caliper to the other whenever I move from forward to reverse they make a loud "clack". I thought it might be an O.E. pad issue, but I've changed the pads out to EBC's, but still no bueno. The new pads fit snuggly into the calipers and seemed to have solved the problem at first, but about 5k km's in, they're making the same noise.
I have anti-rattle springs installed, but they're not working. Is there supposed to be a pair of shims between the caliper sliders and the pads grooves that the previous owner removed for some reason? I don't think so, because that car only had 25k km on it when I purchased it; but you never know.
I can't get mine to latch. It makes the noise but not catch. Everything looks fine as far as I can tell but it just doesn't catch all the way and won't lock closed. I checked the adjustment bumpers and that doesn't seem to do anything. I can tell it is going all the way closed, but motorized latch isn't catching and pulling the door close.

RIght after I release the ignition from the "start" position, I hear a load grinding noise, sounds a lot like the noise a Zip Tie makes when being pulled. After a second or so, the noise ceases and the car runs normally.
I suspect the starter may not be disengaging quickly enough. If starter, do I need to replace it, or is there some component that can be replaced?
So after about 3k on my rear sway I checked everything to make sure its tight. All is tight, but i notice it moves very little but its enough to make noise and drive me nuts. hard to explain but if you see the h&r bar it has very small allen head screws inside a ring that keep the bar in place where it bolts to the frame there is only a 1/16 of an inch or so of play and its driving me nuts.
View 14 RepliesWhen it rains the left front brake makes a scrubbing sound and has a small vibration. After using the brakes once or twice it goes away. It sort of feels the the rotor is warped. But, it only happens in the rain and then goes away. I had the dealer look at it several times since I bought this car in 2008 and they claim they can't find anything wrong with it.
