View 1 RepliesAlready did the wheel to left, right and center about five times. Still no power steering.
View 8 RepliesI am looking to swap the worn steering wheel in my Excursion. I would like a wood and leather like the Navigators have. Any tips on doing the swap?

Want to take a 2001 Audi TT Quattro steering wheel... only horn... no switches, and swap it with the passats steering wheel, same setup just a horn on the passat steering wheel.
Is this possible to do safely, and do the harness is the same so i dont plug in new steering wheel and have the car blow all the airbags or throw codes?
Can to take tires/wheels off a 1998 CamryLE (P19570R14) and swap them for 2004 Camry LE (P20565R15)? I am selling 1998 and 2004 needs new tires.
View 1 RepliesThis may sound petty, but I would like to have the radio controls on the left side of the steering wheel of my 2012, instead of the cruise control. I guess the main question is how the wire harness is set up. Do the wiring can be re-routed to accommodate the switch?
Also, I want to smooth out the ride a tad so as to lessen the amount of griping from from the passenger seat. What is acceptable in lowering the tire pressure to allow a better ride without compromising tire wear? The factory specs are 65 psi. My truck is a 2012 fx4 Lariat with the 6.7
So I have a 2005 f250 Super Duty 6.0 diesel it is the xlt with leather. So I don't much care for the steering wheels on this truck so i purchase a 05 f150 steering wheel. The splines and everything match up but the plug for the cruise control does not, need a wiring diagram or have done the swap and can tell me what wires connect where.
View 1 RepliesIn my 07 Camry I only have the volume, next and previous, and mode buttons. I'm wondering if I can add more like the phone buttons. I bought a aftermarket in dash headunit so I wanna use it to it's full capability.
View 14 Replies2011 toyota camry LE I4 61k miles never been in a wreck. The car is squirrely as heck on the freeway and after two alignments and a trip to the dealer the slight pull to the right has turned into a fairly hard pull to the left and an off center steering wheel. Its not so much a pull as the car wanders and has ZERO center feel to the steering making it really a chore to drive.
View 2 RepliesHow to remove the steering wheel control? Mine does not come with bluetooth button, I bought one I need to install it. Which part of the service manual will cover it.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to find why my car's steering wheel vibrates. This happens at all speeds regardless or acceleration or breaking.
View 3 RepliesI bought a certified pre-owned 08 Camary about two years ago and all in all it has been a good car. Over the past couple of months I had notice a little vibration in the steering wheel starting around 55 - 60 MPH and above. It seemed to be coming from the front of the car and at times I would notice a slow rocking of the front end around 20MPH.
I took it to a national repair shop recently and they said that it was the struts going bad. I have about 85,000 miles on the car and the tires looked new when I got it with about 30,000 mile on the car. All in all the thread on the tires look good with the exception of the outer threads on both front tires, you can see wear but only on the outsides. I also had shaking when I put my brakes on at higher speeds but they replaced the front brakes and turned the rotors and that fixed that issue.
Would struts going bad cause uneven tire wear and steering wheel shaking? If so does $1100 sound right to replace front struts, two new front tires and an alignment?
I have an '04 Camry that pulls to the left. I've tried many things to fix it- switching wheels/tires (back and front switch, left to right switch, completely different set of wheels/tires), I've done two different alignments (everything is perfectly straight), and it still pulls left. I searched the forums and read something about a zero point reset, but when I took it to a Toyota certified mechanic he said there is no zero point reset on the '04.
Whatever it is I'm fairly sure it is a problem with the steering column- the steering wheel wants to center a little left of TDC and I have to pull it right slightly to drive straight.
I am new to Toyota Nation but have been a member for a while on Club Lexus. I have a 2005 Camry LE with an oscillating steering wheel from 20-60 mph. I've just had all four brakes and rotors replaced, tires are about 15,000 miles/1 year old, struts were replaced two years ago at 125,000. I'm guessing it needs a tire balance.
I've attached a link to a video. I tried for 20 minutes to get a good video of it but I think my camera tries to correct for the movement. You can see it the most around 6 seconds in. [URL] ....
I've noticed lately that I have a slight clunk that I can feel through the steering wheel, normally at very low speeds as when first moving. I can sometimes feel it at higher speeds but it tends to fade into the road noise and vibration. Acts as if it is not brakes but either a u-joint in the steering column itself or ball joint or tie rod end. Car is an 07 V6 with roughly 43k miles...
View 3 RepliesI tried to use my horn on my 2006 Camry LE this morning and nothing happened, so I tried a few more times then noticed smoke coming from the steering wheel.
View 1 RepliesAround 30k miles ago (or so) I had some TSW 19" wheels installed and about 1k miles later, I had H&R lowering springs installed. Shortly thereafter, I've had a very inconsistent but horrible steering wheel vibration. Most often this happens when I'm going between 45-85mph. But the strangest thing is that the vibration doesn't always happen! Sometimes I will be on the same stretch of road and the steering wheel will strongly and consistently vibrate as if I had warped rotors. Other times it will be nearly as smooth as glass.
Not sure if this is related but after the most recent set of tires were installed (around 1.5k miles ago) the car now pulls fairly strongly to the left. I've had two shops do three alignments and the alignment seems to be ok.
My primary auto repair shop showed something to me the other day. There is a bushing between the vertical steering rack and the horizontal tie-rods, etc. Whenever I turn the wheel, the bushing flexes/stretches noticeably as much as 3mm but there are no visible tears/breaks in the bushing. The shop visually checked the tie rods and they seemed ok also. A couple of my friends that know a lot more about cars than me seemed to indicate that this bushing should not move much, if at all. Below is a list of the things my car has gone through since we first noticed this issue:
- Three different tires and sizes have been used on these wheels and all have exhibited the same problem over the past 30k+ miles.
- Tires balanced and rotated by several different shops by traditional and Hunter road-force balancing machines. No difference.
- Two shops have cross-rotated my directional tires to see if wheels/tires were the problem but the car still pulled and steering wheel still vibrated.
- My TSW wheels/tires have been put on another car and no vibrations were present.
- Tried another car's wheels/tires and still had the same problem but it was slightly less intensive.
- Wheels aligned three times by two different shops since I had the current tire set installed about 1.5k miles ago. No difference other than the introduction of the car now pulls to the left.
- Replaced brake rotors and pads. No difference.
- Front and rear suspension checked and everything seemed ok.
- Removed Ultra Racing Strut Bar for several thousand miles. Minor vibration reduction but nothing major.
- Replaced hub-centric rings that came with TSW wheels with new rings from a different brand. Zero difference.
- Many other things checked but can't recall exactly what.
I've got a 2006 Camry (4cyl) with 136K miles. Yesterday, I noticed a mild shimmy in the steering wheel around 35 mph. If I take my hands off the wheel it shimmies back and forth about 1/4 inch or so. I pulled over and checked my tires, but didn't find any obvious defects. The shimmy goes away at higher speeds, and drives fine at freeway speed.
I am somewhat certain that I need new struts pretty soon because there is some slight inside cupping on the front tires.
The lights on the steering wheel controls are too dim? I find it hard to see them at night.
Any mod that brightens them up a bit (and creates a cooler look at the same time)???
I had a problem with my steering wheel shaking at various speeds. Eventually I found a bad inner tie rod and replaced it. The shaking is gone, but whenever I get over 70 mph there is still a very small vibration. I had all 4 wheels aligned after changing the tie rod. Tires are brand new, less than a week old. The mechanic checked my ball joints while doing the alignment and said they were good. Could my struts be causing the vibration? They need replaced, not sure if the previous owner ever replaced them and the car has 225,000 miles.
View 3 RepliesMy steering wheel and ignition locked up 2 days ago. I tried turning the wheel and the ignition at the same time, tried the brakes, tried shifting gears and anything else i could think of. I think the problem might be with the ignition coils, or multiple ones, but i have bypassed that by hot-wiring the car(which was a pain because of all the anti-theft features).
So I have the car running now and it is almost drivable except the steering wheel is locked up. I need to know how to fix this, i have read plenty on it and i think i can break a pin that locks the steering wheel to make it work, but i don't know where this pin is(might be behind the ignitions, or attached to it somewhere). if i could do this without breaking anything that would be great, but if the car will run, I am ok with it begin broken, because i already hot-wired it so I'm not worried about breaking anything unless it will make the car not run.
