Camry :: XLE 2007 Speeds Up During Gear Change
Feb 22, 2014
Original owner of a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE with 96,000 miles. Here's my problem.
Right about a month after I bought the car, I noticed that the car would jump/speed up suddenly when the car changed from 2nd to 3rd gear. Here are some additional symptoms of the problem.
-This only appears to happen when the car is shifting these gears for the first time of the trip. All other times of the same trip, the gears change finely.
-During the first few years of owning the car, this problem only happened when the outside temperature was cold. It wouldn't happen in the summer time.
-Over the years, the problem appears to be independent of temperature
-This problem hasn't caused me to make any repairs to the car and the car runs without problems.
-I'd like to understand what the problem may be so that it doesn't get worse. It seems like it's getting worse and more noticeable.

I have a camry 2000 automatic transmission with 150 K on it. For last few months I am having this sporadic issue with it having difficulty to change the gear from lower to higher gear(from the first to second, i guess). It goes like this, when i start speeding up the car, its having difficulty to move to higher gear, it just revs up to like 5 - 6 K rpm and with a jerk it shifts the gear. And at the same time check engine light goes on. And during the time this check engine light is on, it does this same thing a couple of times or so.
Then after some time the check engine light goes away and the car runs just fine without any issues for some tine and then the same thing happens again and after some time the issue and the check engine light goes away and the car runs just fine again. this keeps happening every few weeks. So I took the car to the mechanic (check engine light has gone away at this time, who told the code was showing some "speed sensor" issue and they replaced this. After that the car ran just fine for a couple of months. But its starting to do the same thing again.

I drive a 2007 Toyota Highlander, 4 cylinder/automatic/116,000 miles. I've noticed that when it gets really in the Winter I have a problem. Here is what I've noticed: I will start up the engine and let it run for 1-2 minutes (at start up idle the engine has a loud hum and after a minute or two it finally levels off). Once I start driving and gets to about 3rd it seems to get stuck there and doesn't change up until a minute later, all the while emitting a loud hum. It will eventually change up to the next gear if I wait long enough, or if I slow down and start again from first gear, or when the engine finally warms up. Other than that the vehicle runs great. I just had the battery replaced a week ago. What should I have checked first?

It appears that after you unsnap the three clips you have to loosen the clamp between the air cleaner box and the intake manifold and separate the air box top from the rubber tube before you can access the air filter. However there appears to be hinges on the back of the air filter box that gave the impression that after you unsnap the three clips you can open the lid.
I have not found any step by step instructions to tell me the correct steps to perform to access the air filter

Purchased a loaded SEV6 with 60k a couple months ago. It's a pretty car, but I'm a little concerned about the transmission's behavior. I previously owned a 2000 Camry LE 4 banger and even at 140k it shifted effortlessly. So it comes as a surprise that my new car hesitates, hangs, and then snaps into gear. This happens mostly at lower speeds, between 20 and 40 I'd say. It's actually given me a noticeable jolt a couple of times. This seems out of character for a Camry, no? I couldn't find any info on TSB's for this. What could be going wrong?

I have a 2007 Camry SE V6 with approx 170K miles. A few months ago I took my car into the dealership and they performed a service on my car that is a bit confusing. According to the invoice it is labeled: ENGINE INDUCTION SERVICE COMPLETED FUEL INDUCTION SERVICE. The description for the part is TOP ENG/INDUCT SV.Since this service I have noticed a weird vibration in the car when trying to maintain speeds of 65 to 70 mph. Also, if I were to floor it, the car accelerates rough -it shakes and jerks.

I have a 07 camry I4 with 56,900+ miles and it was using 10w30 conventional oil, but recently (2 weeks ago) I change it to 5w30 Mobil1 synthetic and today notice at start up white smoke, it didn't do this before with the conventional oil.
Is this normal with this type of change from conventional to synthetic or should I worry and try to go back to conventional and see if it stop.

I have a 4-cyl 2007 Camry XLE. I changed out the plugs, simple enough. but now the car seems to be idling too low, just a tick below 500 RPM. Its causing some minor vibrations as also the AC is not working at a stop, it just blow warm air. As soon as i push on the gas the RPM jerk up pretty sudden, the air pressure from the vents increases and its cooler. So it seems the AC issues is related to the RPM being too low so once i get the RPM's back up it should be good to go.
These are the stock Denzo SK20R11 plugs that were in the car : [URL] ....
And these are the equivalent NGK IFR6T11 plugs i put in [URL] .....
So, I thought maybe because the ECU got reset maybe some re-calibration, but I have driven a good 100 miles on it and no change so i doubt that's it.

I have a 07 Camry XLE. My previous battery started dying on me so I changed to an Optima Yellowtop battery. Next day the check engine light came on, and sometimes while idle the car starts stalling, it never turns off though just that the RPM goes really low and the acceleration is really slow and it feels like the car is having trouble accelerating. Today it happened again but I was over 60MPH and hitting the gas pedal and it seemed to stop accelerating a few times.

I recently did an oil change on my wife's 4 cylinder 2007 Toyota Camry which has about 126.5k miles so i was suggested at Autozone to use synthetic 10w30 instead of the conventional 5w20 they put at the shop when my wife gets an oil change. So i did a oil flush and did the oil change with the new synthetic 10w30 and now the Camry feels really heavy and has difficulty accelerating at first. It also makes a really loud squealing noise (like when your breaks are bad) when it first accelerates. Should I go back to conventional 5w20 even tho it has so many miles? Is there anything else wrong that i should get checked?

My 2007 camry makes a clunk noise when I drive over a pothole on the passanger side of the car at low speeds. The noise comes from the rear passenger wheel area (which I tested with an empty trunk).
I took it to sears and they want to replacing the rear sway bar links and bushings for about $420. It seems like an easy job, so I took the car home and yanked on a bunch of suspension parts. The wheel doesn't have any play, the sway bar end links rotate slightly as you would expect a ball joint to rotate (towards to bumper or towards the hood).
The only play I could find is in sway bar itself, it moves left to right (driver side to passenger side) a little. In the picture below, there is a gap between the silver collar and the bushings. Is it possible that the bushings I have are too thin? Should they be tight against the silver collar to prevent sway bar movement?

I drive a 2007 Toyota Camry V6 LE. The other day when I tried to drive it, the car started, I was able to put it into drive, the engine will rev, but the car will not more forward. I tried putting it in reverse, the engine will rev, but again it will not move. What kind of issue am I looking at?

I have 2007 Camry V6 XLE. Over the past year we have had at least 5 incidents of the car not going into gear when first started. This includes reverse when leaving garage and drive when out in parkig areas. Toyota claims they have no records of any other claims for this issue. It even happened at the Toyota lot when we were waiting for service to be done during oil change. All fluid levels have been checked and they were good. They suggested we leave car with them so they could try to get it to do this. This has all happened over the last year. We have about 47K miles on vehicle and purchased new.

I have a 2007 Camry V6 XLE with a rebuilt transmission. Since the rebuild I have had an intermittent problem with the transmission not shifting into gear properly from park. When shifting from park into drive, sometimes the transmission will pause, leaving the vehicle in neutral, then slamming into drive.
The transmission was replaced in April of 09 with a leaking transmission seal. Since this time I have has this problem but have not been able to get it to be reproduced for Toyota to observe.
Purchased: February '08 (ish)- New
First Transmission Replacement- April '09- 35980 Miles
Transmission Repair- Internal Temp Sensor/leaking o-ring/Transmission Flush- 9/13/11- 101k miles

I just bought a 2007 Camry XLE V6 with push button start. When I push the button:
1. the gauges light up
2. I hear a loud motor (gear) noise
3. noise stops and the engine starts up like normal. No unusual sounds.
4. I push the button to stop the car and the still no noise -- engine shuts off as expected.
5. NOW, when I open the door, I hear the same motor (gear) noise I heard in #2....the engine is off at this time..

So my wifes 07 93k miles started to make a strange knock rattle noise. It sounds like the knock some on here have when the water pump was going out. It only happens when the car is on, in gear ( drive or reverse) brake pressed And AC ON. The engine begins to vibrate under the load and the rattle begins. Sounds like you its coming from behind the alternator under the valve cover. Once I place it park.... or turn the AC off it goes away. It idles fine. Quiet And Smooth. But once I place it year it comes back!!
