Camry :: Wobbly Vibration Feeling Right At Around 41 MPH
Jun 3, 2011
2011 Toyota Camry LE where when the vehicle is driven for the first time of the day, I get a wobbly vibration feeling right at around 41MPH... Doesn't seem to be the transmission, switching gears and putting it into neutral doesn't change the wobble. I've had the vehicle to the dealer 4 times now. Here is what they've tried (with no result):
Replaced all 4 alloy wheels
Replaced all 4 tires
Road force balanced
Replaced both front wheel bearings
Replaced both front axles
Aligned the vehicle
Replaced a "shaft" on the transmission (per the advisor, trying to figure out exactly what part he's referring to)
Replaced both front discs
Vibration all but disappears when the vehicle is warmed up.. about 10 minutes of driving. Is this just normal behavior for this car? I've driven several 2011 Camry's.. Some do it and some don't... Even with different tire/wheel configurations.

I had a front brake job done on a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup at 85000 miles. When I stepped on the brake, I felt pulsation in the pedal and a sort of wobbly feeling in the steering wheel. Also the brakes were making noises while driving. Classical sign of a warped rotor?! Long story short brand new rotors, brake pads and calipers, later the pulsation is mostly gone but the braking is still not smooth at one point while the tires are turning. Now i do have to older tires on the front but i just bought two brand new tires for the rear. Would it be wise to put the new tires on front to see if there might be some unevenness caused by the old tires before i take it back to the shop?
Also the feeling of the brakes catching on one point seems non existent or so minimal I can not be sure if the road surface interfering while driving slow of applying the brakes gently. But slowing down from higher speeds (above 40 mph) and using more then gentle braking ( not standing on the pedal with both feet) it is definitely there. Before the brake job braking caused the steering turning right. (sign of more braking action on the right - right?). Now with new stuff still pulls to the right but not as strongly. Should not this disappear with the brake job? Or get the new tires on front and see what gives?

I'm having a vibration feeling while driving. The dealership has replaced both lower control arms, bushings, and the right side drive shaft. They have told me that it is caused by my rims and tires. So I purchased new rims and tires and that has not fixed it.

I just purchased a '11 Camry with 72000 miles. Got a good deal on it, other than not having a warranty... Since I've had it, when driving on the interstate, the car has a VERY strong pull to the left. If I let off the wheel, the car drifts to another lane in less than a second. But what's strange, is if I move my car to the furthest right side lane, or on a back road, the pull is not as strong, and sometimes will even pull a bit to the right. I've had all new tires put on, I've rotated the new tires, I've had it aligned 4 different times to no avail . I've also replaced all the brakes and the rear caliper on the drivers side as the rubber boot had a rip in it..
The steering feels a bit off as well, there is no play, but the steering just feels "wobbly" .

98k miles and if the car is on a slight incline and your backing up or creeping forward it feels like you are going over a rumble strip. that slight stuttering feeling. no codes have tripped. I've asked the toyota dealership and they don't know what could be the problem. The trans axle fluid was changed at 88k and from what i was told there were no metal shavings in the fluid. it was a little dark but after going 88k miles i assume it would be.

I bought an Elantra Gls 2013 automatic 4 doors approx 6 months ago. I have 2 issues with it ....
1- there are lack of power/acceleration issues when driving at speeds between 60 kms/hr and 80 kms/hr. If I drive at 80 kms/hr for awhile and have to slow down like say 60 or 55 kms/hr and need to reaccelerate again, the car seems to lose all its momentum. It's like the automatic transmission didn't downshift and is still in 6th gear at 1500 rpms when I slowed down to 55 kms/hr and ready to reaccelerate. I try to accelerate slowly and it's like there's an air bubble underneath the gas pedal (or resistance). I really have to step on the gas harder so the rpms will go to 2500 and then the car really picks up. It's not a steady regular acceleration....???
2- There's this vibration like feeling on the gas pedal and around driver side floor when the rpm reaches approx 2500 ( when the transmission shifts gears ). I can deal with the noisy engine but when you also feel the vibration / like metal when the car reaches 2500 rpms, it is really really annoying.
Is this common?

Ok, so I have started to develop this shifting feeling in the rear end when I hit bumps or potholes. It's the worst in potholes. I recently got 2 new tires on the front because they had tread separation (Yokohama avid-s). I was told my other 2 (now on the back) are fine. This car (now with 84000 miles) has moved a likely over-loaded payload and trailer from Oregon to North Dakota and them from ND to Wisconsin within the last year. The struts seem pretty responsive to me pushing down on the rear end.
Could this be struts, sway bar/links/bushings, bearings? (drums on rear), other? What would be the best way to diagnose?
I thought for a hot second to ride in the trunk and have my wife drive over some potholes.

I bought my Passat 2.5 V6 TDI a few months ago, 3rd day i owned it a lorry hit the back end, its all fixed and looking great now.. but last week it developed wobbly steering, feels like a wheel is out of balance but only when coasting or off the power (engine breaking), and intermittent, i cant pin it down to one speed/range/road or anything.
I've checked tyre pressure and made sure the wheels are all on, jacked up the front end one side at a time but couldn't find any play in the track rod ends, i did notice the complexity of the legs on the front and that worries me a bit.

I drive a '14 Civic, 19k miles, and I just recently had the alignment adjusted on the car. I'm driving with snow tires in upstate new york. There's a stretch of the nys thruway that's grooved-- vertical grooves-- and my car wobbles from side to side so much on this stretch, i have to drive with 2 hands and hope a semi doesn't wobble back into me! Could it be the snow tires? Something else? Can't be the alignment, I just had that fixed!

Our '91's speedometer needle wobbles +/- 5mph at lower speeds, but evens out and becomes steady at higher speeds.

I just got a 2006 prius with a wobbly rear spoiler. I pulled it off and took some pictures....It seems like there might be something missing, or is it just that the plastic round things are chipped and thus, the spoiler recesses are not grabbing on? It looks like the round plastic things are riveted in, which I assume will make it difficult to replace.....

As I am coming to a stop it feels as if my front brakes (feels like it is coming from front right of the car) are "wobbly." There is a noticeable unevenness in braking force, it gets stronger than weaker, and as the car comes to a stop (this is with friction brakes applied), the car almost feels like it is hobbling. It's feel is similar to having misaligned brakes on a bicycle wheel.
I have no issues at any other point whilst driving (besides ratcheting clank, also suspected from front right). I still get 50+ MPG, and front pads were at 6 MM as of last service, due in 700 miles for next service. Car is a 2008, currently at 113,000 miles - new tires @ 95K, 4 wheel alignment @ 95K.
Online searches have said there could be a number of culprits: warped rotor, loose rotor, bad bearing, CV joint.

So I installed my 4" Procomp lift, rancho shocks, extended length end links, brand new rear shackles, new steering gear and pressure & return hose and the truck still drives like complete crap...
When I was getting the front back together I couldn't align the front axle properly and the springs are leaning slightly...
Bump steer is terrible, wobbly sounding clunk from front end and she's all over the road.
Do I need an adjustable track bar? I assume the track bar is what's causing my axle to be off center... can I just unbolt it, center axle and re-bolt it?

I have a 2004 f150 heritage Super Cab Xlt with the 4.6. It has a fabtech 6' suspension lift on it. And 315/75/16 BFG A/T KO tires. I replaced inner and outer tire rod ends. Steering Box and idler arm. Replaced rotors and brake calipers on the front and brakes. Replaced rear rotors and rear brake calipers.
Now to the point. Lets say the road steers to the left. I have to steer the wheel to the right ad left in order to stay within means of the lane and stay straight. If I am driving on a straight road I always have to have my steering wheel held to the right in order to stay straight. So lets say the road starts turning left. I have to keep the steering wheel held to the right then slightly left.
But I can't just steer the wheel left or right. It seems that it has to be a special way of steering the truck. I have had tires rebalanced and many shops have said the truck is within alignment specs. It always seems that the steering wheel has to have a offset. Could something else be wrong with the truck ? frame ? u-joints ? Steering wheel column ?

I just took my 2001 Honda Accord in for an oil change and tire rotation yesterday. When I left the shop, I noticed a wobbly noise coming from the front when I was driving on the highway (40 MPH+). There is no vibration in the steering wheel, but the sound is pretty noticeable. It wasn't there when I got to the shop. I have my tires rotated every 3,000-5,000 miles. Is this simply from uneven tire wear?

I have a 2014 Sonata GLS with only 4200 km on it, purchased new in August 2014. The car has been flawless...until yesterday. I took the car for its first oil/filter change and asked them to check tire pressure at the same time...this was at a Hyundai dealership, btw.
I left the dealership and immediately noticed that the car was swaying and more wobbly than normal (i can make it bounce from side to side by moving my body in the driver's seat), and when I make a right turn there is an awful squeal from the right-front tire.
I've done some online research today but couldn't get back to the dealer before they closed to look at it. Most posts I've read point to under inflated tires, but there are others that say wheel bearing and more.

I have a 2002 ford f350 sd crew cab, i have changed the front and rear brakes, since then the steering has gotten sloppy. I was driving around 30-40mph and making a sweeping right turn and the front end was wobbly at a low speed it is fine and on a left turn it is fine. It feels like it is the drivers side tire that is the problem. I have to change the tie rod that is attached to the pitman arm. I don't want to bring it to a shop.

I have 06 Passat 6M with 75k. When I let off or get in the gas when I am moving I will feel a clunking feeling. I dont think its the flywheel since there is no rattling like I have heard dual mass flywheels make when they fail. I dont think its the trans but I could be wrong. Don't think its the diff either since it makes no noises nor does it have resistance feeling when turning.
Pretty sure it's not the axles. I had a boot replaced within weeks I found it was torn a little. It was torn at most 6 weeks. I am thinking subframe is shifting or crappy dog bone mount or maybe even a motor/trans mount.

Some days car's ride very smooth and other days you feel every bump with the suspension feeling harsh at times. For some reason after it rains the car rides better as well. Do the tires soften up when there is moisture? Sometimes the temp. outside also affect things. Is it just my imagination?

I am having a scratchy type feeling in my clutch pedal when i accelerate in 1st gear or R from Neutral. as im easing off the clutch and applying gas, there is a mild scratchy feeling coming from the clutch pedal. its more a feel and no noise. The car is brand new with 600km, its a 6 spd gti. I just want to see if its normal or whether i should get it looked at.
