When I turn HVAC, doesn't matter fan or A/C, white parts (very similar to salt grain) are coming out from vent grilles and spread all - over the dashboard
I took the car to the dealer Mechanic says the a / c evaporator has to be replaced They have to keep the vehicle for the whole day, disassemble dash completely and replace the part. He didn't mention anything about cabin filter
I recently went on a road trip and at one point white steam started coming out of my AC vents. i pulled over on the side of the road to take a look under the hood and everything was fine. no burnt smell or anything. i was driving through some high temps (around 100) and it was a bit humid. i figured it might have been because of humidity, but I've never seen that before. now a few days later I'm back in arizona and this morning i saw the steam coming out again, but very faintly. Its also very humid right now. The AC works fine, blows cold air like it should.
View 7 RepliesI went to dinner tonight and on the way home I noticed white smoke, coming from pipes. It's 42 degrees outside. I didn't notice any from any cars I saw beside me. I saw it when I got home. It didn't have any smell to it at all. It just felt warm. My girl friends car was not making any smoke either. I have never seen any during the day when it was warmer out.
View 12 RepliesEvery 2-3 days, intermittently-there is white smoke coming from the tailpipe of my car. The car seems to be sputtering, like it wants to cough, plus there is vibration in the steering wheel. All this happens while the car is idle like at a light. Then on other occassion, I am driving on the freeway and the car seems to sputter even at 45-65 mph, then it just smooths out. No problem.
Today, I was in the parking lot, there was no smoke but some sputtering when I shifted from park to drive. I drive 30-40 minutes to get to work and very afraid my car is going to breakdown. Also, I took my car to Toyota dealership and was told they could not tell me what was wrong with my car and to bring it back when to problem occurs again. I have pretty much "babied" my car, so I guess my car is beginning to reach middle age.
Add'l info: Camry XLE, 3.2L, automatic, 167,000 actual miles, warm climate, oil change every 14 weeks, tune-up about a month ago, coolant flush in June 2012, a/c is fine
It's a 2001 camry Solara .. When I start my car for the first time every day, I have white smoke come out my exhaust usually for about a minute or two but it runs fine after that. But it's like a cloud of white smoke. I checked my oil and it's fine. What it could be?

I changed my PCV valve over a month ago and still have white smoke coming form exhaust on startup. The smoke goes aways as always, after that the smell is gone and the car runs like normal. The smell of the smoke is not really sweet as if it was coolant leaking, but its not exactly smelling like burnt oil either (I've had cars that burnt oil real bad and it smelled different than this camry).
I've been keeping an eye out on my oil and coolant levels, both seem to be ok. I refilled my coolant tank to full about 2.5 months ago as it was very low and its still almost at full right now. My oil after about 4k miles on the dipstick measures right in the middle of the min and max dots, which it has been for as long as I've owned the car. So these levels are ok I think.
Now, I've read somewhere a while back that after changing the PCV valve or rather after taking the old one off that there still will be some residue to be burnt off. A way to get rid of that is to create a makeshift vacuum by plugging one end of the hose (the one that attaches to PCV valve) and leaving the PCV valve off while running the engine, putting some kind of cloth or similar over where the PCV valve should go to collect all the burnt stuff, thus cleaning the remainder out. Is it possible that this might be the a solution?
I have a 2003 Toyota Camry, XL-E, 4 cylinder vehicle with 156,200 miles on it. The car has been serviced regularly since buying it new and is in excellent condition. My problem is that when starting it for the first time every morning, quite a bit of white/bluish smoke comes out from the tail pipe. It then clears and I don't have the problem for the rest of the day no matter how many times I start the vehicle. The next morning the same thing occurs on the first start and first start only. This problem has been occurring for the past six months. The vehicle seems to be running good. I recently put 1500 miles on a vacation trip and it ran fine. I have discussed this problem with several mechanics and they cannot provide a definite analysis or solution. I have been told that it is possibly a cracked head gasket, cracked gaskets or oil leak being burned off the engine when started for the first time. What do you think might be the problem and what course of action would you recommend I take?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2007 Honda Odyssey touring model. Recently I had it serviced at the Honda dealership. In addition to my requested front end alignment and oil and filter change, they talked me into a radiator flush, fuel inj. service, air filter replacements and battery service. I drove the car home after wards even filling up with gas before going home. This drive was about 55 miles. I never noticed any problems. The next day, I left for Montghomery AL towing a trailer with a motorcycle trike on it. We stopped for lunch and continued. The car suddenly started making a grinding noise from engine compartment and suddenly white smoke started coming out from the hood. I immediately pulled over and we got out of the car for fear of fire. This was the first time I had any indication of a problem.
After a short time, I opened the hood to see what was wrong and noticed that the radiator cap was sitting upside down next to opening. I had the vehicle towed to Chattanooga where I was told there was serious damage to the engine. I had them repair it (they were an AAA approved towing and repair shop). I also took pictures of the engine compartment. I went back to the dealership and asked to be reembursed for my expenses and the cost of repairs and the owner refused. He said he didn't believe they left the cap off and since he started out in the service department he didn't believe the car could even go that far without overheating. My question is: Is it possible for a 2007 Honda Odyssey to travel approximately 220 miles over two days before overheating and wrecking the engine if the radiator cap was left off and/or if no fluid was even added and the radiator cap was left off?
I need identifying parts or the problem to fix this leak! I see oil underneath my car coming from the transmission. Someone told me I need to replace the seal but don't know where to start. Transmission slips when it was low on oil but once I topped it off again it ran way smoother. Bought the oil from the dealership but can't afford to get it replaced there.
I want to repair this problem before it get worst. I have 200k mileages and never any tranny problem until now.

I purchased a warranty 7/100,000 mile. Did oil changes myself every 5k full synthetic. when the car developed a knock i noticed the engine oil was scary low. Since i got my car from the time i got it at 19k and i bought the 7/100,000 mile warranty on top of that.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry LE, with about 104,000 miles on it. Lately I've noticed a noise ONLY when the car is idling, rather in park or drive. I don't hear it all when I'm driving. It's somewhat hard for me to tell if it's coming from the engine or under the car, but its definitely near the front and sounds lower in the body. My first instinct told me that it was related to the exhaust system, but it doesn't quite sound like a rattle. It sounds closer to a belt struggling to turn...it actually sounds a little bit like when my water pump and alternator went, but I had those replaced 15 months ago so I really don't think it's that at all. I also had the radiator replaced 2 months back, so I don't think it's that. I don't know drive far to work, so I haven't put a lot of miles on the car in the last year.
Otherwise the car drives normally, just hear this sound at idle. The only other thing I've noticed over time is that when the car gets to about 2500-3000 miles after an oil change, I notice the light flashes when making hard turns..but that's it, and it goes away when I get the oil changed. Obviously I know that the engine is burning oil probably faster than it should, but I'm not sure if that might somehow be related to what I'm hearing above.
I changed my oil and found some metal particles in there... not a whole lot, but if you look at the oil pan in the sun you can definitely see a "glittery" effect... the particles are nowhere near big enough to be able to feel in your finger, but you can see them....
I have already dropped the oil pan and inspected the crank bearings... they all look good.. I did not remove the rod caps, I didn't want to dig into it too far, but now I am at a point where I am thinking.. maybe I should tear it all down and find the source..
I need a new clutch, not sure why the clutch didnt last more than 9000 miles, but I was told it should be covered.. And with that.. since I need to drop the trans anyhow.. and I need to find the source of metal... Maybe I should just remove the entire engine/trans together and make one big job out of it??
I really am hoping it's the turbo putting metal into the oil since that is the newest unit of the system.. and it would be covered under warranty as well.. Tough decision really.. I admit the 3.2 VR6 is a bit overwhelming when it comes to disassembly.. not to mention all the fasteners that need to be replaced...
I have an 07 Camry with an I4 engine and there are times when I am driving with the two front windows down and I hear a ticking/clicking noise coming from the engine as if the engine is brittle.

View 5 RepliesWell, today I was checking the oil in my 1989 Ford Aerostar and noticed that there was more than just oil on my dipstick! I noticed a few small little metal shavings on the dipstick! They looked kinda like tiny pieces of hair, and there were only a few. What this means? I don't hear any noise from the engine (but then again I usually drive with loud music so I may be missing something). I have been trying to listen to the engine recently though. The vehicle seems to drive good, no overheating. The oil itself is quite black, in fact it looks like chocolate syrup.
No doubt the engine could use an oil change, which I'll be doing as soon as I get my paycheck. When I bought the vehicle it needed a quart of oil (which I added) but I've been driving it quite a lot since then and it hasn't been loosing oil. But now I'm worried about these shavings. Has my engine seen better days or is this just normal tear on an engine this old. I'm not sure how many miles are on the vehicle, odometer says it has just slightly over 3000 miles, but its one of these old 5 digit odometers so I have no idea if that's 103000, 203000 or 303000.
Today I am getting a "squeaking rubber" sound coming inside the car from the steering wheel when its turned. Not from under the hood! We had a sudden temperature drop over night but this has never happened before. Car has over 180K on it. Power steering fluid is between the lines. I don't see any plastic that is rubbing.

Bought the truck with almost 15k miles, it now has just over 16k and I changed the filters when I noticed the underhood filter was the original 3 port style.
There were some very small particles in the DFCM. Maybe dirt from dirty fuel nozzles?
Guessing this is nothing to be worried about?
I have a 2011 Ford F-350 with 6.7L I have had cooling issues when pulling a trailer up a grade it heats up where it hadn't in the past. I had it in the shop 4 times before it went out of warranty and they changed the oil cooler and thermostat. The last time it was in the shop was November which it was to cold out to duplicate problem. It's heating up on just about every grade and now it's out of warranty when it should have been fixed last year.
I'm guessing it's the water pump because when I changed the antifreeze there was metal shavings in it. I told my dealer about it and they said it was probably from manufacturing. I haven't called dealer yet because I think it should be covered under warranty since the problem was never fixed after being in the shop last year!
I'm having a hard time diagnosing a creaking noise that is coming from the front driver side area. Since the Camry is pretty quiet, this is the one stand out noise that annoys me while driving. I placed my phone next to the front windshield to get as close as possible to the noise but am having trouble locating the exact spot. Where it's coming from.
The noise tends to appear when outside temperature is spring/summer like. In the winter I really didn't notice it. So that tells me the interior temperature is irrelevant despite warming up the cabin in winter. How this is linked to outside temperature I have no idea.
Ignore the large thump in the middle of the video as that is noise from going over potholes.
