View 9 RepliesEvertime I turn left the brake light, traction control and stability control lights come on and the car starts dinging. Mechanic says it could be front wheel bearings because they are tied to the ABS system??? But I have been seeing alot about wheel speed sensors?
Second, everytime I brake suddenly, a cloud of smoke comes from the front end and there is a burning oil smell. The oil is fine and no leaks. Again mechanic says it could be a cracked CV boot throwing grease?
Lastly everytime I put in reverse or when I lightly put pressure on the brakes when driving I get this noise like a humming (errrrrrr) noise. Its not the grinding/squealing noise you would get when brake pads needs replaced. I only have 60k miles on this.
I'm looking for tricks that I could do changing the codes in my golf like turning traction control off and ESP off.
2015 Golf 1.8 TSI
I just replaced the steering rack today, things i noticed on the drive home:
I get the traction control light (i know its called something else, cant think of it) when i accelerate while turning. it'll cut the power to the throttle for a few seconds/ until i slow down or stop turning.
The light also comes on when i brake slightly hard. I am not anywhere close to locking up the brakes so i know its not the ABS. Whats going on?
I was just thinking about this last night when driving home under heavy rain. It was nice to have it on the highway turns where there was heavy flooding and hydroplane possibilities, especially since I am used to 4 wheel drive in these conditions. I was wondering if I shouldn't be turning it off under normal conditions though? I know it's handy to do so if you are stuck in heavy snow but since the default is always on I wonder if there is any other gain to only using it when needed rather than only turning it off when needed?
View 26 RepliesIt's to a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. I love the thing and try to keep it running. Anyhow, I hooked a borrowed computer to it and it said that it was not reading the sensor. Yes, I checked all of the fuses. I also played hell getting a new (well, used) Anti-Lock Brake Sensor. Discontinued Motorcraft Part # BRAB81. No change in the problem.

View 1 RepliesI've been hearing a faint but rapid ticking noise when taking faster exit/clover-leaft style turns (usually ~40mph). I think it's the ABS or traction control on the verge of kicking in because if I push it a little harder I do get the flashing traction control light on the dash, but the ticking is happening before that light comes on.
I'll ask the dealer when I do the courtesy 30 day inspection... I'm at the end of the 2nd week of ownership with 200 miles right now, so I'm still getting used to the car. (2013 Passat TDI SEL). Loving the 40+ mpg on my rush hour commute!
I did a search and didn't find anything on the B7 forum that might explain this noise. I don't think it's a CV joint since the car is new, it happens when going around these style turns either way and only seems to happen at higher speeds. I suspect it's just that the traction control is sensitive (or maybe I haven't scrubbed the tires enough yet to get good contact).
I have a 2007 ford edge that when you turn left or right it sounds like the traction control is activating and makes a ratcheting noise. I have replaced cv joints and wheel bearings.
View 4 RepliesI have 2002 Ford Taurus SES. Currently the brake light is on and the ABS and traction control are not working. The brakes have been checked and are ok and it has been hooked up to a code reader and no codes come up. Occasionally the light will go off and the abs and traction control work for awhile.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe with 43,000 miles. Recently the check engine light, the vehicle stability control light and the traction control system light all came on simultaneously. Since then they have all come on or all gone off several times. Usually once they come on, they stay on for the remainder of the trip. Sometimes they will still be on when I next start the car, sometimes they will be off. What might be causing this?
View 17 RepliesI read about traction control and people having problem in the winter. Here is what the problem. Good tiers will grip when you have snow condition, but what about ice? I don’t care how well your tiers are, how much money you paid, or how highly recommend it, if you on ice and traction control kicks in you are done.
If you get enough speed going through icy snow then no problem, plow right through it, but if in the icy snow traction control kicks in your tiers just stop spinning until it get the grip!, but it can’t because you on ice!
How to turn traction control off? If I’m correct that before 2010 traction control option was optional and now it’s a standard. There few videos on how to turn it off on hybrids, does that mean it will work the same on not hybrid?

My car has the "trac off" button on the left side of the steering wheel by your knees. When I push the button at a stop (park, neutral or drive) the "trac off" light does not illuminate on the dash. If I press and hold it for three seconds, the VSC off light also does not illuminate on the dash.
I read the manual (page 174) and I'm doing exactly what it says to turn it off but its not working. Whats going on here?
My uncles car traction control light comes on when it feels like it. Its a 2010 with 6000miles 4cyl. Warranty is up in december. Can this problem be a sensor on the wheels? I will bring it in to have dealer check it. I just wanted a heads up of what it could be.
View 3 Replies2009 F-150 FX4 5.8 .... Had a couple days of 20's temps, started truck last night and I have the brakes symbol and ABS light staying on, with the message "Check brake system" and the traction control symbol alternating back and forth. On a 16 mile trip, they all went out just once, for about ten seconds when I restarted at the gas station. Then came back on. Brake job done within the last two years by previous owner at the dealership.

View 6 RepliesMy 09 camry didn't come with the traction control button. I don't want to do the pedal dance every time I want to turn it off. Is there any way to install a button to turn it off just like the factory one would?
View 1 RepliesSon was driving his car today and the roads were patchy ice leaving the addition. As he went around a turn the car started to slip and traction control kicked in. Right after that the trac off light came on and won't go off. Tried recycling the trac switch on and off to no avail. Tried to check the fuse but can't find where it is located.
View 8 RepliesMy traction control lights is on and stays on during driving. Any reason for this?
View 9 RepliesWhy my traction control light stays on? just installed sikky headers. The light will not turn off no matter how long i hold the traction button. Could it be a sensor? No VSC or CEL only traction control light...
View 8 RepliesI just bought a 2008 Mercury Mariner about a month ago. A couple of times the Traction Control light came on from when I started it, until I turned it off (5-30 minutes.) Then it didn't come on for days. What the problem could be??
