I have had my Camry for 9 months and unfortunately didnt know that water was going inside my trunk every time it rained, the car was washed, or snow melted! I took it to the dealer to have it looked at only to find out the trunk body seal needed to be replaced. I have had cars over 10 years and water in the trunk was never an issue.
This is my first Camry and I must admit I am not satisfied with the purchase. I hope my experience gets better.
I am getting water at the very front of the trunk, nearest the passenger compartment. Might be the drains in that vicinity that might be plugged causing an overflow there .Rest of the trunk is dry. The only wet area is immediately underneath the pull-out "shade" thing that has to be in place for the top to operate. Some indication that the water is coming from above that, since it is wet also.
View 14 RepliesThe twin bottle holder sump in the trunk of my 2003 Camry takes on a few inches of water after driving through heavy rains. All other parts of the trunk, carpet, spare tire well, etc., always remain bone dry and I cannot figure out where the water is coming in. There is no sign of water coming in through the lid seal and the seal itself is unbroken and pliable. There is the seal mark uniformly minted across the sealing surface of the trunk lid.
There is something of a gap in the body right in front of the sump if you peel back the floor covering, but I can't see light through it. The sump itself, when it's dry, shows no signs of cracks or leakage. I do not actually store water or any other liquids in the sump. Actually, because it takes on water, I don't store anything in the sump. It seems easy enough to replace the bottle sump, but I'm a little reluctant to do so until I can figure out exactly where it's coming from.
Get water in trunk every time it rains. I think it gets in through the tail light cause the side has a dent.
View 4 RepliesWater is getting in the trunk of my 2007 Toyota Camry. I need to replace the seal or weather stripping around the trunk, because it's come unattached in some places. I did some looking, but I am not familiar with some of the brands and vendors I see. Most of it is generic.
Are there particular brands with which you have had good luck? I've never replaced this sort of thing before.
Just noticed something strange. Haven't opened the boot for a few days and We have had some really heavy rain but today, when I did open the boot water, poured out between the carpet on the inside of the boot and the metal. Has water in the actual boot or is there some drain holes I need to check.

View 30 RepliesThe water was not actually getting into the HVAC itself, but getting past the air inlet assembly from under the leaf screen directly into the firewall area. I will try a gasket maker that comes in rolls that I can press into place. there is no room for tools there.
Everywhere around the heater and AC module is dry. The foam on the inside firewall immediately under the air inlet assembly is soaked, yet the inside of the assembly is bone dry. I removed the entire to diagnose the leak. A light rain was enough to fill the back foot well with an inch of water.
Leaking A/C water onto the passenger floor problem. If you’ve gone on a long trip and ended up with a pool of water on your passenger floor, you know what I’m talking about. It seems to be a common problem, especially if you live somewhere hot and have to keep your A/C on the coldest and strongest setting nonstop like I do. This is a very simple job and takes about 20-30 minutes.
All you need is: duct tape, a wire hanger, a few towels, and a wet/dry shop vac. (If you don’t own a shop vac, borrow one or rent one if you must, but it is a good investment if you don’t own one already).
Step 1: Remove the plastic cover under the dashboard. This piece just pops off, there are no screws, so give it a good tug down and outward and it should come off easily.
Step 2: Once you have that piece out of the way, reach up to the left corner of the carpet and pull it back, you don’t have to pull it very far to see the A/C drain tube.
Step 3: Pull the tube out from the hole on the firewall, and look at the end. If there’s water dripping your clog probably isn’t that bad. Take the wire hanger, bend it straight, and stick it as far up the tube as you can, wiggling it around and pulling it out to wipe off any gunk on the wire. Try to reach the metal pipe that the other end of the rubber tube is connected to if you can, but do NOT pull the rubber hose off the pipe, it will be hard to get back on. Also, be sure to have your towels ready because you may have up to a liter of water pour out the end when you unclog it.
Step 4: Turn your A/C on (make sure the car is fully on) and wait a minute. Look at the end of the drain tube. If it is dripping water quickly, and you don’t see much water coming from anywhere else under the dash, then you are done. I would suggest to still continue with the next steps just in case, but it’s up to you. If, like mine, the tube is fairly dry and you still see water dripping from further towards the inside of the dash, then your clog is further up the pipe and not in the tube itself. In this case you’ll need the shop vac.
This morning I went to put some stuff in my hatch to go to a job and looked at the paper towel role I keep wedged in the small little cubby in the front corner and lifted it up and it was SOAKING wet! I literally could squeeze the paper towel and water would come out of it (like you submerged a paper towel in water and immediately squeezed it out). Its rained about 1.5 inches in the past few days and my car had been sitting while it was raining but had been driven between the two storms. I WILL be contacting the dealer very soon.
The funny thing is my Genesis has a recall for the water Leakage through the tail light housing.
I have a concern has any experienced seeking water where the aux battery goes in the hatch compartment.? As well as where the emergency tire goes? I was taking the battery out this weekend to take it home and charge it, and I saw the flood of yellow water, how does this water get in the car?
Another question/concern when reconnecting the battery in reverse the positive terminal connects first and then the negative but I was experiencing some sparks pointing my way, I was wearing my plastic/gummy gloves but is this normal should I worry?
And what would happen if I forgot to reconnect the little black pump (the little hose that connects to the battery)?
We have water leak issues for close to a year now, very frustrating. Not heard much of B7s leaking so I thought I'd stop in here and check it out. Great car to drive, only other issue we've had was the cold weather inactive drivers door lock as seen by many others.

Think it's from A/C but it's a lot of water. Front passenger side is bone dry. Looks like it may be coming from the center console and spreading out. Could the A/C evaporator drain be plugged. If so where do I find the hose?
View 11 RepliesDiscovered a water leak on the A pillar driver's side (note right-hand drive)? We had a down pour today and my car has never exhibited this before. I got in my car today and noticed that there was a wet spot at the top and a wet spot under and to the side of the tweeter. This seemed to be quite soaked as pushing on it you could feel it was wet. I checked around the A-pillar and it goes up a little into the roof lining (about an 1/8th of the way on the top of the door ). Today , I heard a small gush of water, but that was about it. The car was on level ground. How do I take off the A-pillar so I can see if something has jammed up or something?

Well its been raining here in Portland Oregon non stop and this morning I went to get in my car and smelled a mildew odor so I took out the drivers floor mat and the carpet was soak. Then I laid back the carpet and that grey spongy covering thats under the pedals was soaked to the bone like a sponge.
I did a test with a water by putting the hose on top of the roof of the accent and turning it on full bore and nothing leaked in the car. I sat in their for a good 5 minutes with the hose blaring down the windshield and door sides. I even took a jack and lifted the car up too see if there was any cracks or a rusty hole underneath but nothing. So Im completely stumped on this I do have A/C and the drain hose is clear since I have been using my defrosters and the A/C pump kicks on.
I can't seem to figure it out. I've been having a water leak in my gti. Here's the facts
-rear drivers side floor is soaked wet, nowhere else.
-I pulled up the carpet and carpet pad and wiped the floor dry.
- poured water in sunroof drains and didn't see any new moisture, water ran out of the drains on all 4 corners.
On my first trip with the new Santa Fe. After 400 miles today, while just 50 miles from Vegas, the A/C blower quit working. It sounded like it was blowing as normal but almost no air was coming from the vents. Being just 50 miles out I pushed on.
After arriving home (only 98 today luckily) I turned off the car and unloaded. After about 20 minutes, I started the car and the A/C and blower seemed fine. I looked at the ground and about a pint of water (at least it looked and felt like water I did not taste it) seemed to leak after I started it from the center of the car about even with the front door. What happened? Any cause for alarm?
I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota in very good shape. I bought it from my brother who has owned it since 2000. I drove the truck from Reno, NV to southeast Alaska where I live, and all along the pacific coast. It rained a LOT and I noticed pooling of water on the floor at my feet, soaking the carpet completely and pooling up. I thought I was tracking water in the truck from my boots. BUt I have had it here in Alaska for 7 months now, and it is still HORRIBLE! It rains here all the time and I can't get rid of the puddles. There are no plugs in the floor for drainage and I can't figure out where it is coming in. The windshield looks good, and the door seals look good also. I cannot figure out where the water is getting in so I can stop it. THe truck is going to rot and rust if I can't fix it! And here's the thing, the water is pooling on BOTH sides of the floor-passenger and driver. I am baffled. No one ever sits on the passenger side so its not coming from boots! there is no way for water to flow from one side of the floor to the other.
View 2 RepliesI have a 98 Toyota Rav4 4cyl auto. Started to leak water from somewhere into the passenger side floor when it rains. Started out only leaking during heavy/fast rain, but now almost every time. Thought it was the sunroof drain overflow, but no water on the seat cushion, and I reamed both drain tubes out with a stiff wire all the way to the ground and confirmed water runs out the properly. Now I think it's something in the firewall, like maybe the vent air? Tried taking the screen off the cowl and looking down into what I presume are the vent ducts, but didn't find any drain rail. How to fix this? Do I need to take the dash apart?
View 7 Replies1995 Ford Van E150. So I've been trying to solve my overheating problem for months now. One morning I walked out of my house and all of my coolants was on the street. I could not completely detect the source of the leak after running more coolant through it. I also checked the dip stick and coolant on the ground for any sign of oil/coolant mixing. I started by replacing the thermostat.
I did a more thorough inspection and found a crack at the bottom of the radiator that I replaced less than two years ago. I replaced the radiator again and while I had the belt, intake and fan disassembled I switched out the water pump as well. The old water pump was gunked and the gasket was almost completely worn off. The van is still overheating and spitting out coolant at a much higher rate. I'm guessing because of the new water pump. A friend said it could be the intake manifold because of where the steam was coming from the motor.
I have a 1990 legacy and just replaced the water pump gasket and now it is leaking out of an upper bolt head on the pump and how to cure this....
