After having lowering springs installed, I've been noticing a clunk noise in the rear suspension when driving over dips in the road (eg. getting out of the parking lot onto the main road). It feels like having your wheels lifted in mid-air and being dropped onto the road.
View 14 RepliesFew weeks ago, I got the Tein spring installed on my camry. Drop 1.5/1.6 front/rear.
Problem is now I sometimes hear this clunking sound from the rear. It doesn't happen very frequently, just every once in a while when i drive through a small&sudden bump.
Only from the rear, nothing from front of the car.
Another thing is that when i reverse & turn (ex. getting out of garage), it makes one or two cracking noise from the front, small clunking sound from the rear.
I'm suspecting the strut may be bad. The mechanic guy said that my rear struts are bad (when he was installing the springs).
Am I in need to get new struts ?
I put HR lowering springs and I'm getting a bad squeak when the car goes over a speed bump . It's coming from the rubber on the end of the front springs ? Do they make a poly urethane upper mount?
View 4 RepliesAlright cliff notes are lowered my 2012 GTI on Eibach Pro Kit springs and Koni Yellows (adjustable) as a DIY driveway job and at first were OK, but 2 weeks later are clunking to the point where it sounds like its going to fall on the ground. Any road imperfection makes it clunk (from the front only).
-Clunks all the time, slow, fast, turns, straight, large or small bumps. Doesn't clunk with dips...
-Gets better when its hot outside (>70 degrees),
So I installed the DG springs today, and it should've been a simple install. Well once all was said and done I took it for a test drive. Every time I go over a bump I hear a loud clunking noise, like somethings loose. What it could be? I'm pretty sure I tightened everything.
View 10 RepliesI had my dealer install a set of H&R springs the mild drop option. He put it on the rack and reset the alignment. I drove it and it pulls hard to the left. The car has never done this before. He then took everything back off recheck the suspension and found nothing wrong. He realigned the car and it still pulls hard left. The car is a 2007 Camry SE.
View 11 RepliesEvery year about his time for the last six years my 04 rear suspension starts to clunk. Sounds like a spring trying to reseat itself. I will raise the rear end, slide under on my 40 year old car, shake out of the suspension components and won't discern a thing. Never have been able to reproduce that clunking. I suspect it is the spring seats. By April, the clunking will be gone so I think the ambient temp has something to do with the noise. The strut mounts seem to be tight to the body so is the wear in the spring isolator or other components?
View 11 RepliesSearched but all I see about "scraping" is from too low or tires scraping but this is a different issue, well i think it is, so my bro has golf 2.5 2 dr, he installed his DG Springs today and it makes this scraping noise, it comes and goes, it makes the same noise even if in straight pavement or not bouncing...

Installed eibach springs on the 7th gen camry? I installed mine this weekend, and I'm getting a like a rubbing sound when I turn the wheel from only the driver side. I removed the strut and spring combo to make sure everything was installed and aligned properly and it was. Just can't put my finger on why its only making that sound on the driver side.

View 9 RepliesI am installing VWR Springs to replace worn stock components on my mk6 R. It appears that the previous owner slammed the car, and removed the "nipple" that holds the rear spring in place from the top. Both upper and lower spring isolators were present.
I am trying to find a name or part number for this unknown "nipple". I tried some combinations, such as "rear spring cap" and "rear spring centering guide". It looks like it would screw into the body, right above the springs themselves.
My R's only got 5,400 miles on it and I just lowered it Saturday on H&R Springs and when I turn my steering wheel like 3/4 either way it makes like a clunk noise at lower speeds only....any other part besides strut top mounts and bearings? It sounds like its coming from the right front.

View 14 RepliesHave the HPA SHS installed now. Everything is aligned. Getting the worst clunk noise when moving the car backwards. The noise comes from the front right. Clunking with slight vibration felt in steering wheel. Also clunks when straightening out the wheel to move forward. The noise stops once I start going. What could cause this?
View 24 RepliesI just replaced all 4 struts on my 04 Camry. The car has 87,000 on it. I went with the Monroe OESpectrum struts and new strut mounts (Monroe). Springs looked fine, the rubber spring seats were fine as well and the bellows, so reused those items.
I now have a noise in the rear end that I did not have before. It sounds like it is coming from the lower part of the car and is not metal sounding. It is a very dull clunk when going over bumps in the road and is coming from both sides.
I replaced the sway bar bushings a couple years ago. I checked those and there is no play and appear to be fine. Also checked the sway bar links and they seem fine to me, but not sure what makes those bad. Torqued what I could. Used an electric impact wrench on the strut nuts and could not torque that because the rod spins.
I am taking it in on Monday for an alignment and to have the shop see if they can figure out the noise. Is it possible that the new parts could be binding and the alignment may take care of it? I have doubled checked my work and everything appears to be on correct.
I have an intermittent "clunk" noise that appears to be coming from up in the rear roof area when I go a gentle bump (like going over uneven pavement pulling into driveway). It's almost as if there is a large ball bearing up there that rolls around and clunks every once in a while. I've tried opening/closing the sun roof and have bounced up and down on the rear of the vehicle to try to replicate... but no luck.. It's almost as if something hits the roof when going over a bump... but there's nothing there that hit the roof...
