I have 2 x P0031 and 2 x P0051 after an accident. I rear ended an SUV. My hood got bent and the radiator got pushed in. The body shop said they don't think it was due to an accident. I can't possibly have 4 sensors go on me.
View 9 RepliesI recently bought a 08 Sonata V6, with 94K mileage. The oil pressure light comes on when the engine is idle (around 700-800 rpm). The seller told me that this problem started a few months ago, but the car has not been used much since then. He also said that he has changed the oil after that, but the problem still persists.
The engine light has shown up more recently, like in a week or two. I took the car to a mechanic and he could not guess what the problem might be. But he gave me the error codes: P0011, and P0051. There are no other obvious symptoms (e.g. oil leakage, low oil level, unusual sound from the engine).
I could not find any thread regarding both of these issues (Oil Pressure, and the error codes) together. Any connection between these two?
So far, I have realized that the oil pressure can be due to a bad sensor, and P0011 has something to do with CVVT, and Oil Control Valve (OCV). But I would like to make sure I don't just waste money by replacing the sensor and OCV.
Both the P2195 (Oxygen sensor or A/F sensor stuck lean - bank 1 sensor 1) and P0031 (Oxygen sensor heater control circuit low - bank 1 sensor 1) were pulled on my 2009 LE (77K miles). Is it safe to assume that the upstream b1s1 sensor is the culprit?
I believe I've found the OE Denso part 234-9056 - is this the right one?
General question about O2 sensors - is it recommended to replace both the upstream and downstream at the same time, or is it not necessary to do that?
My girlfriend drives an 09 corolla (1.8L I believe). I have an OBDII bluetooth reader w/ Torque App so to identify the issue I can get some data:
Last week I was driving the corolla and I got P0031: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1). Car seemed to run fine without any issues. My girlfriend brought her car in to her "mechanic". "mechanic" who will replace have of your engine only to realize that your gas cap was cracked. He apparently replaced 02 Bank 1 Sensor 2 (I'm still trying to confirm this and to get the part # to make sure). He reset the ECU and she drove for about 30 miles after which these codes popped up:
P0172: System too Rich (Bank 1)
P0101: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem
The car was idling rough. I reset the codes and the car was running fine until all monitor systems were ready. When Catalyst, 02 Heater & 02 Sensor are not ready everything is running fine and I don't see any error codes. I cleared ECU a few times. The last time I was able to drive for over 20 miles without any issues. Currently the only sensor not ready is 02 and car is running fine but I have a feeling once its ready the car will start having issues again:

2003 Camry, 2.4 16-valve
Car runs good, MPGs same as always, 26/27 and 30+
Old sensor has no resistance or continuity thru any of the pins.
New sensor has 2.5/2.8 ohms res between blk/blk pins. (? +B and HT ?)
200K miles, has burned oil since I got it w/ 140K. Have had MIL light on for two years, but did not care until now. Previously had diff DTC's, not P0031.
Swapped EFI relay with Headlight relay, no change.
Checked all fuses, all OK.
Cleaned ground on engine block and fender, no change.
Checking voltage at engine connector, sensor disconnected, car running, I'm seeing
Orange 3.31 = Blue Sensor wire (AF+ ?)
White 3.017 = White Sensor wire (AF- ?)
Blk/Red 3.827 = Blk Sensor wire (HT ?)
Blk/Wht 13/14 = Blk Sensor wire (+B ?)
I cannot find FREE online wiring diagrams anywhere. I have searched TN exhaustively, have not found anyone who actually fixed this problem, or provided a link to a wiring diagram.
So, which wire is the ground ? Should it show 0 voltage ? Is it controlled by ECM ? How do I test the ground continuity ?
Where is ECM located ? I want to unplug and re-plug.
What to do to get rid of P0031 check engine code on my 4 cyl. Camry LE. He replaced O2 and A/F sensor (Denso with CA emission), computer module (got dealer calibrated it), verified wiring/voltages, inspected the catalytic converter. When the code is cleared it will not come up for some time, but when the car is started cold it comes right back again.
View 2 RepliesI own a 2003 Camry LE. I went to Autozone to find out what the check enginge light was for and was given P0031. When the service person checked it out on the computer he said the probable causes were:
1) open or short circuit conditions
2) poor electrical connections
3) failed oxygen sensor
4) EFI relay fault.
I asked how it could be narrowed down and he said it I would have to get the car checked out.
I m getting codes 21 water temp sensor changed it and code 34 and i cant find what that code is and how do i rest the ecu i do not have the green ecu rest wires...
View 1 RepliesI was driving on the highway, beside the concrete wall that divides the two directions. Suddenly, I saw a deer in the air, jumping from the other side of the wall. It landed on my windshield before I realized what was happening. The windshield smashed and the hood opened. I couldn't see a thing. I tried to hold the wheel and stop the car. Then I guess I hit the the concrete side wall and stopped. All the air bag discharged. I walked out unharmed, except a little bit disorientated.
The Prius was actually beeping. Then I powered off it. I smelled a strong smell of burning plastic. I looked the front, the coolant for ICE was ok. but the coolant for the hybrid system was gone. The window wash tank was fine but the right head light was gone.
I was in 1st gear and was about to turn then a car literally going about 40 over the speed limit was coming so by accident as i was still in 1st gear slowed down to much before i could put the car in neutral and it stalled in gear. Would this cause any damage
View 16 RepliesI have a 2002 Alero 2.2 4 cyl and the gauges, head lamps in auto position, windows, fan, and radio will not come on. When car is off and key turned to acc. radio will work. It still drives ok, doesnt seem to be draining the batt but the check engine light came on. I took it to autozone and they COULD NOT read the codes and didn't know why.
The speedometer, temp and fuel gauges haven't worked for months now and the rest of the accessories not turning on is a recent issue.
The only thing that comes on regularly is the backlight for the dashboard and now the check engine light. I had the ignition switch replaced right before the speedometer, fuel and temp gauges stopped working. I noticed tapping the key sometimes gets the radio, windows, and fan working but not the dashboard gauges. Don't want to replace the ignition switch again since it doesn't seem to do anything for the dashboard gauges.
Our "brand new" 2010 outback (7K miles) was hit while parked on the street. Rear-ended on the passenger side, both rear tires and Left front tire were no longer vertical. The hit was also so hard that the front bumper had to be replaced from hitting the car in front of us. Luckily there was no frame damage, only tires & drive train. Almost $9,000 in repairs later, the car vibrates when turning at moderate or higher speeds (30mph or faster). The Vibration sounds like hitting the rumble strips on the edges of the highway and gets worse the tighter the turn or the faster the speed. When going straight, no noise or vibration. Mechanic says its a bearing, but can't tell which one because its not bad enough yet.
My uncle thinks it might be related to a mis-alignment in the drive train - possibly causing the rear axles and Differential? to be out of square with each other or how it is actually bolted to the frame. We have put on about 600 miles with no change except a fear of doing more damage. Are either of these on track? Or do I really need to bring it to a Subaru dealer/repair shop? (our local mechanic convinced us to let him do the work, and due to a variety of reasons we decided to go that route - hope it was the right one)
P0051 together with VSC and VSC Off Lights
Over the weekend I had multiple P0051 and VSC and VSC Off Lights CELs
I have reset them using my OBDII scanner. It keeps on coming back.
This means the BANK 2 SENSOR 1 (just before the CAT) is reading low temps and therefore throwing a code. I get this.
Question is why do the VSC lights go "ON" too?
This started when I installed my ScanGage e this weekend. This is a change point.
Before I go purchase a Denso sensor, I would like to perform a series of tests:
1.Remove the ScanGage e. Test drive if any of the CELs (P0051 and VSC) come back.
2.If the same set comes back, clear the VSC lights code using our home made device.
If the VSC lights disappear and the P0051 comes back, I will replace the BANK 2 SENSOR 1 Oxygen sensor. Prior to replacing, I will check for wiring issues on this sensor.
Got the p0051 error code and its calling for a o2 sensor. What brand does lexus use? I rather get one on line but dealer quality.

View 5 RepliesSo, my '06 XL just popped up a P0051 code, which is the bank 2, sensor 1 (the upstream A/F sensor that you can easily view upon opening the hood in the front exhaust manifold. Easy enough of a replacement on that one, but what about bank 1, sensor 1 (the upstream A/F ratio sensor on the firewall side of the engine)? I changed my oil today and I can access three of the four oxy/A/F sensors, but the upstream rear looks like a bitch! Out of curiosity, I called a local Toyota dealer and they said it would be 300.00 total to replace the hidden sensor on the firewall side. Does this amount seem realistic? I know that there is a TSB for this sensor that states to replace the exhaust manifold/cat assembly. I def. can't afford no 1700.00 crap right now!!
View 3 RepliesI am running into some issues with my 2011 Escape 2.5L. I am pulling a total of 7 codes. Two codes keep repeating, which those are P0455 and P0457. And I am also getting a C1963. Accompanying the engine codes, my HUD is displaying "Check Fuel Inlet" when I first turn the vehicle on.
View 10 RepliesAbout 2 months ago, the check engine light came on and I had the code read, it came out as P0031, which is the 02 Sensor. Today, I had this 02 Sensor replaced and had the code reset, but later on today the check engine light came on again. The mechanic said I needed to drive it for about 100+ miles before the car resets itself. I drove it for about 30 miles before it did come back on.
View 8 RepliesVSC, Check engine light just came on my 2006 GS300. I only have 50k miles on it. I had this happen a few years back and it was the Gas cap o-ring. This time I changed the gas cap and reset the codes but no luck. After starting the car, with a minute the lights come back on. So checked the code and here is what I'm getting:

Sensor Heater
Control Circuit Low
Bank 1 Sensor 1
