My 2007 Camry has developed a loud popping noise when sliding the sunroof open. It's as though the sunroof is getting caught under the vehicle roof before it moves to slide open. The motor labors pushing the sunroof past vehicle roof. I see no obvious obstruction. The sunroof makes no noise when going to the tilt position. I have tried the initialize process, but the problem persists.
View 14 RepliesDrove to work today with the sunroof open doing 75 mph. With it open all the way, there was a loud sound similar to a vehicle without a muffler or a loud revving engine. When I closed it to about 2/3's open, it stopped.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2010 Toyota Camry SE with just under 51,000 miles on it. Every time I put the car into reverse and accelerate to apprx. 2-4 MPH then apply the brakes, I hear a loud popping noise, and it sounds like it is coming from the passenger front wheel. Slight noise from the drivers front as well. This doesn't happen in Drive, only in reverse at a low rate of speed. My father and I have taken the front wheels off and tested it, seems to be a motor mount, curious if this seems rational or common in a newer car.
View 11 RepliesIt seems that many 2012/2013 Camry owner with sunroof has popping sound issue. Based on reading threads that are already out there it either happens right away or after 10,000+ miles of ownership when outdoor temp gets cold or driving over a bump. What is not clear is, too me, if this issue happens to majority of Camry owner with sunroof or minority. I for one own a 2013 Camry with sunroof with almost 3000 miles on it but I do not have this issue. Was wondering if Camry owner with sunroof can chime here whether or you have this issue and how many miles you have on the vehicle. What percentage of Camry with sunroof are having this issue.
View 14 RepliesI just bought a 2007 Camry XLE V6 with push button start. When I push the button:
1. the gauges light up
2. I hear a loud motor (gear) noise
3. noise stops and the engine starts up like normal. No unusual sounds.
4. I push the button to stop the car and the still no noise -- engine shuts off as expected.
5. NOW, when I open the door, I hear the same motor (gear) noise I heard in #2....the engine is off at this time..
Just picked up a 2001 GLX wagon and it is something my 93 did -- when opening the sunroof all the way, it makes a "popping" noise. With my last car, it was from something that snapped rendering it useless.
View 2 RepliesI bought a 2008 Camry SE V6 in June. So far, nice car. I even made a point to find an SE with a sunroof. However, the sunroof rattles when it's open. Of course it does. Full open or halfway open does not change the rattle much.
I've been researching this problem online since June, and I am not finding any definitive answers on how to stop the rattle.
I have heard that there is a way to program the FOB so that when you hold down the UNLOCK key for a few seconds the windows and sunroof opens.
is there a way to program this ourselves? Or is this only available at the dealer, and if so, will there be a cost associated with it?
Toyota camry SE 2012. The sunroof is stuck on the open position. It is fully open and the motor does not make any noise. The fuse is ok. Nothing seems stuck on the track just from a quick glance. I am hoping to find a way to manually close it if it is possible.

How to get it to close until I can take it to the dealership? The only way it stopped is after I turned the car off and now its halfway open.
View 2 RepliesI was talking to a coworker of mine this morning about the unseasonably cold weather we have been having in Atlanta the last few days, and she said that she left her sunroof open during a storm that we had the other day and now her heated seats aren't working. She has an XLE with leather heated seats. Blew a fuse perhaps? Or possibly destroyed the heating mechanism? Or maybe just the switch itself? Both seats are not working. The clock, radio, nav, etc are all working so its not the fuse. Also, the lights on the switches themselves are working so they seem to be ok.

We finally took the car to the dealership and they, without being able to duplicate it, recommended to change the sliding door roller for the price tag of $375. We did and it did not fix the problem. We took it back few times and the popping noise did not take place while there and left the dealership without a solution. We finally took it back today armed with a video on my iPhone displaying the problem (popping audio included). We left it with them and lo and behold they said that they were now able to duplicate the problem and they are able to fix it by replacing not two but three latches.
View 3 RepliesSo I'm having a tailgate issue. When I open my tailgate, sometimes the internal spring wants to keep it up, rather then letting it open down. It also makes an odd popping noise during operation from time to time......I don't see or feel anything broke in it.
View 7 RepliesBought my 2004 Lexi RX330 in June 2014 with 96k (now has 105k - I drive a lot). It is beautiful and I love it! However, I am NOT in love with the sunroof that is currently stuck open. It's been making a weird noise upon opening (think bag of chips crackly) for the past few weeks. Yesterday was gorgeous weather in TX, so it was open most of the day. Come time to put her to bed, the sunroof would not close. Making a horrible grindy/clicky noise and closes about 4 inches then stops... then it starts to open again. Weird! There's nothing I can see in the tracks that is stopping it. The passenger side looks like it would close, but the drivers side looks like it is stuck. Tried to take the sunroof motor out, but there is a metal bracket in the way. Besides the fact, what to do with the motor once I had it out...
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 Saturn Vue and if drive with the sunroof open and the driver side window open I get periodic thumps or knocks from below the front seats or the dashboard (not really sure where it is coming from).
If I open additional windows or close the driver side window it goes away. I am sure it is an air flow issue.
Having issues with sunroof. Purchased my 2011 gti last month 3300 miles later sunroof broke like a corrado .....making loud gear grinding noises ....whole assembly wants to bust out of the headliner !
View 5 RepliesI recently crashed my celica into a curb and had to replace the ball joint and the lower control arm on the right side. everything went well for a while but now there is a really loud creek/popping noise. it happens whenever i accelerate and come to a stop which led me to believe it was the cv axel going into the differential. but it makes the noise when the car is not running and i push down on the strut. i took it for a suspension inspection but they said they found nothing wrong with it.
