Camry :: Gen 5 V6 - Red Airbag Light On / Loose Connector Under Driver Seat
Jun 18, 2012
I recently bought a used '06 Camry V6.
After driving it for several days, the red airbag light went on on the instrument panel. Certainly, I do not want to go to the dealer, not only because of costs, but also cause of the distance of the dealership from my home.
I did a bit of a research and so far have tried disconnecting the ground wire on the batter for half an hour, in order to reset the computer. Although, as soon as I plugged in the wire back and turned the car on, the light did not disappear.
After looking online, I found a similar problem and a solution regarding Toyota Sienna in this link: [URL] ....
-Following the advise, I remember that right before the light went on, I have tried to reach for the plastic water bottle that ended up deep under the driver's seat.
Is it possible that the airbag problem stems from the loose connector under the driver's seat? If yes, how should I approach this.
Also I recently had my intermediate steering shaft replaced [URL] .... Are there chances that such replacement caused the airbag to fail. This manual does not tell any steps to disconnect any yellow wires (or wires at all).

I have an 04 and the airbag light comes on when started and stays on. I noticed when I start it without sitting in the drivers seat the light goes out. It will illuminate again when I sit or apply pressure to the seat. I looked up the component list on Sewell's website and there is a airbag seat sensor under the drivers seat. My question is it seems to be the issue however it also seems to be working to pick up the presence of a driver. I have an aftermarket warranty that a Rep says it doesn't cover???. I'm assuming if the light goes out without weight on the seat should I replace the sensor? Or is there a "bladder" under the seat cover that may need replacement?

Quick question about the air bag light function for the passenger seat. When no one is sitting in the seat it does not display "on" or "off" by the clock. When I sit in the seat it displays "on" Shouldn't the light always display "off" if no one or someone too light is sitting in the seat? Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the sensors in the seat?

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry LE, and the seat belt light keeps on flashing and the airbag light is solid. We have tried literally everything possible, tried replacing the seat, replaced the seats sensors, tried a airbag module out of another 07 camry with exact same part #. Toyota have diagnosed that all the systems for airbag is fine, except it has something to do with the seat belt of the drivers side/or module but all that's been checked and still no luck. My car is due for Safety inspecting coming month and need this to fixed. How to handle this. Btw light came on because we had a blown fuse for the drivers power seat, and my mechanic thought that it was the motor so we replaced the seat and noticed that it wasn't the motor. Was just the fuse and we put back the original seat and everything is functional except the lights came on. No accidents on it to the extent i know. and the wiring is all plugged back properly without anything like wiring damage.

I have noticed new drivers seat squeak. It only happens with weight transfer side to side at lower speeds ( hard right and hard left below 30 mph, or entering a driveway). I have looked at several posts and it seems like people have had luck with simply tightening the bolts for the seat.
Well I did that and it still making the noise. I have isolated the noise to the lower part of the seat right behind the molding. Behind the molding and behind the seat control switches there is a white box for the switches. It seems like the noise is coming from there. I noticed that if I pop off the control switches and I loosen the screws for the control switches the noise gets a touch better.
I took it to the dealership and they told me they tried to add some oil between the leather and the molding but it did nothing since the source seems to be behind the molding.

1993 with 95,XXX miles. Driver's seat has developed a little looseness that allows it to rock just a little. Is there a reasonable fix?

I could find mentioned using a 4.7 ohm resistor to disable the airbags at the connector. I need to get my seat re-upholstered and the VW haus wants to charge me like 80 bucks, how can I do this for less money?

I replaced my standard parking lights with LEDs. The passenger side was a snap and super easy took all of a minute. The driver's side wasn't so. It was easy to get out and replaced the bulb with the same type as the passenger, however I can't get the bloody thing to lock in the hole.

I have a 2003 Montana which has the airbag light illuminated. Also no matter if the seat belt is locked in or not - no seat belt light ever comes on. I have a code scanner but it doesn't scan airbag codes.

Got a CEL in my 06 Azera yesterday. Went to autozone and got two codes
P2068 but I think the gentleman told it was both sensors (I guess A and for the fuel gauge.
He said it could possibly be a loose connector.
My question is: where is this connector located ? And what should I be looking for. I most likely will bring it to a recommended mechanic, but just want to know more about it.

I recently bought a beautiful 2005 6.8L V10 Excursion with ~90k miles. While looking under the hood, I noticed a loose cable. See attached pictures. Where it may have come off?

My mom drives a 4 cyl 2011 Camry le. Basically when I adjust the seat while in the car it turns off the airbag and won't sense the seatbelt. The dealer keeps telling my mom that when I get in the car it knocks the sensor off. I am a big guy 6'7 around 400 pounds so they are saying that the car thinks its been hit and makes the airbags go off. Basically they aren't doing anything and won't refund the car for a new one or anything. They just say oh well just don't adjust the seat when you're in the car and with the key in. Just trying to understand why toyota isn't doing anything. They have been so rude about the whole thing. Is there a "weight limit" for a seat in a Camry?

A few weeks ago, a relative was riding in the front passenger seat and asked me why the light said "passenger airbag off." I had seen that on before and didn't think anything more about it as I rarely have a passenger. Called Toyota to login the problem as I was traveling that week and thought I would be out of warranty before I could get it to the dealer. That particular light was on for some days afterwards and then I forgot about it. Tonight I noticed that "passenger airbag off" is not lit, but there is a light saying "airbag off."
I turned the car on and sat in the passenger seat, and the light that came on for my aunt didn't come on. Just "airbag off."

I swapped my cloth seats for leathers today and the airbag light came on after... the seats were out of a 2000 golf, so I was expecting to have to splice wires, but, the connectors were the exact same on the cloth from my car and leathers from the donor car... so I just did a plug and play... I scanned with vcds and got these codes:
Address 15 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 1C0 909 605 A
Component: 1M AIRBAG VW51 02 0006
Coding: 12621
Shop #: WSC 00000
2 Faults Found:
00592 - Seat Belt Switch: Right (E25)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent
01218 - Side Airbag Igniter: Passenger Side (N200)
32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
I take it the passenger seat is the problem... I didn't clear the codes, I wanted to ask here first before I did if I need to do anything to connectors there or just the clear the codes?

I had posted about it earlier [URL] ... but now the car has been to the dealer and was told it was the passenger side seat belt buckle.

I have a 2004 Jetta which has the 2-wire seat belt sensor on the passenger side and a 4-wire sensor for the drivers side. I swapped seats from an older style MKIV which had no seat belt sensor on the passenger side and a 2-wire seat belt sensor on the driver side.
As of now the seat belt sensors are disconnected and I am throwing seat belt sensor codes for both passenger and driver side. I have already tried to clear the codes via VAGcom...took care of 2 ignitor codes, but not these seat belt switch codes.
Is it possible to splice in the 2-wires from the older seats to the correct 2 out of 4 wires coming from my car? What's the difference between the 4-wire and 2-wire connector on the driver side?
Also, reading through the DIY here: [URL] ..... It states that I would need a recoding of the Airbag controller in VAG-COM to deal with the airbag light. What this code is suppose to be?

This has now happened about 4 times. Randomly, the seat belt light on the dash turns on. I jiggle the belt connection a bit, and it goes off....loose sensor?

I recently noticed that when my girlfriend sits in the front passenger seat the light will randomly indicate that the passenger airbag is off. I took it to the dealership, they ordered me a new light to see if that is the problem.
Its really weird, she will be sitting in the same position for over a hour sometimes and then it will suddenly say that her airbag is off. the dealer said they tested the seat switch and it was working properly.
I will be bringing it in this week sometime and we will see what they say about the light. For now I have decided to take a picture/video everytime it happens to document it.

Last winter I had to replace my front passenger seat. The seat was starting to burn a hole or two, generally getting too hot for the passenger. At about the same time my airbag warning idiot light came on! I changed my front seat. The seat change was no biggy, but I keep getting the airbag light! Can this be cleared simply or only by a dealer?
