View 3 RepliesI have a 1994 Black Ford F150 and i was wondering if i could lift the truck 6 inches only using lift blocks (or any other cheap way to get my truck off the ground)....
View 2 RepliesHaving problem running straps from the top of the lift gate, over the spoiler, and down to underneath the car for either a non-trailer hitch bike carrier or one of those bag type cargo carriers that rides on the back of the car. The spoiler doesn't seem to be strong enough to take much weight.
View 1 RepliesLifting a 2AZ-FE block to get it on an engine stand. Block is already on the ground. I need to confirm engine lift points for this block. ( block & cyl. head without trans-axle ). Couldn't find anything in any of the docs & refs that I have & searched. I would rather not lift it by the cyl. head lift points since the head bolts are a weak point on this block.
View 3 RepliesThere are 2 metal straps going left to right between the rear seat mounts. They don't appear to do anything. The seat doesn't touch them. The mounts are bolted to the floor so they don't give support. What they are for?
View 13 RepliesI have an intermittent brake noise, which sounds like rubber rubbing against rubber. There is no discernable effect on the brakes, pulling, etc. My mechanic can find noting wrong with the brakes.
View 5 Repliesso ive been noticing that everytime i drive up hill or up a mountain. my car end up smelling like burnt rubber. why is that and is that normal? i dont floor it going up hill, i just let it change gear by itself.

Took the plastic engine cover off and found that there are two rubber gasket/washers that stayed stuck to the valve cover (around the threaded rods that stick out of the cover). When I tried to remove them, they disintegrated. Now, my plastic engine cover is having problems tightening on properly, if that makes sense.
So, if you look at the engine cover, you take the two nuts off and remove the cover. There are rubber isolators/gasket that is there. Mine have disintegrated. Call to the Dealership says I have to replace the entire cover as you cannot get those separately.
I have some trouble with some rubber lining coming off my car, I'd like to re-attach it but don't know what kind of adhesive to use that is weatherproof and long lasting.
View 4 RepliesI have 2007 Camry CE, 4 cyl, 102,500 miles. The rubber boots on both front and rear struts can be easily lifted with a screw driver to reveal the shiny shaft. Strut seems be pass the 'fast brake' test (no bounciness). There is oily residue on the strut body. Is that normal? If replacement is needed, should I go with Monroe or other brand. I want the original Camry ride.
Brake pads seem to have 3/16"-1/4" thickness left. All equipment is original.
So the big rubber hose attached to my power steering reservoir is leaking and my mechanic told me to replace it. I went to a couple of different Autozone stores and they both couldn't identify the correct dimensions of it. They told me to take it out and then bring it to them. This is very hard for me since this is my only car and how to pull the bottom bit of the hose out from whatever it's attached to.
I've measured the length to be about 2.4 feet but I'm not sure on how thick it is. I've taken a pic of the hose here:
Today I am getting a "squeaking rubber" sound coming inside the car from the steering wheel when its turned. Not from under the hood! We had a sudden temperature drop over night but this has never happened before. Car has over 180K on it. Power steering fluid is between the lines. I don't see any plastic that is rubbing.
View 2 RepliesAfter my Camry XLE V6 warms up to temp it starts to smell like burning rubber - my wife states that it smells like burnt popcorn. I bought the car and I believe it had been driven for quite some time with a bad upstream rear O2 sensor - when I hooked up my scan tool to it, it showed as a bad o2 and miss on #3 and #6 cylinders - I replaced the coil pack feeding #3 and #6 and runs smooth - put a Denso OEM o2 sensor on the rear and still has a miss code but not an emissions code - still smells like burning rubber - I figured the smell was coming from the bad o2 and it running bad AF mixtures.
I figure that if the catalytic converter was plugged or needed replaced that I would get a code for it. I noticed a bit of oil around the valve cover gaskets so I gave them about a 10th of a turn down to see if it would stop the leak and steam cleaned the oil off the motor - still smells of burning rubber - car has never had the timing changed or drive belts for that matter. Drive belts look good, I will have them changed the next time serviced but I'm not sure about the timing belt...car has 218,000 miles but looks great - serviced regularly - bought from my dad and his cars last forever - what this could be?
I have a 2000 Camry, 4 cyl. It was in an accident on the front right before I bought it. I took it to Sears for alignment and 4-6 adjustments were made to pull it to within spec. One evidently is not correctable (the caster). After I bought it and after the alignment, I replaced the sway bar link, as the upper ball and socket was very loose. The problem I am trying to solve now is when I turn at low speed, I get a sound like a plucking of a large rubber band. (BUNG) I jacked and blocked up both sides and turning both ways all the way made no sound or play, and nothing is touching like the wheel well plastic or other parts. Then, I lowered the front right (where the accident was) to put weight on it, and it no noise when turning. When I lowered the left side also, there was still no sound. No sounds or shaking at 50-60 mph.
View 5 Replieswhat is this 1" half-tube rubber thingy that fell from steering column or gas pedal?
more importantly, where does it go back to?
I only wash/vacuum my 2007 Camry once a year. Found it while vacuuming the floor mat.
This rubber piece was caught between the carpet and the floor mat near the gas pedal and/or steering column that goes through the firewall.
How to lock the trunk on the Camry? I used to be able to lock the trunk with the main key, and give the valet guy just the valet key. No I cant seem to find the lock on the trunk.
View 1 RepliesI have 2005 Camry. The trunk will not open with any key, remote key fob, release next to seat or even crawling through back seat and using emergency release. There is nothing in the trunk. A liner prevents me from seeing the actual latch.

The other night I reached down to pull the trunk release and it didn't open! The button on the key will still open it (and so will using the key itself) however so I've narrowed it down to the little cable that runs from the release all the way to the trunk. What I should try? Is this covered by any warranty at all? I know I have the optional top tier warranty but I'm completely blanking on its name.
I have had my Camry for 9 months and unfortunately didnt know that water was going inside my trunk every time it rained, the car was washed, or snow melted! I took it to the dealer to have it looked at only to find out the trunk body seal needed to be replaced. I have had cars over 10 years and water in the trunk was never an issue.
This is my first Camry and I must admit I am not satisfied with the purchase. I hope my experience gets better.
Trunk won't close. Car has 101000 miles, new struts last year as well as belts and hoses.
View 8 RepliesJust finished setting up a new HU! Next step is setting up my amp and subwoofer. I already ran the RCA and Remote Wire cables when I hooked up the Head Unit. I don't know where to run the power cable through the firewall?!
