So i cave a Clunking noise and feeling coming from the steering column every time i make a slow turn or when i am driving trow ruff roads. I can feel it through the steering wheel.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2003 Toyota Camry. About 10 months ago, when I get a transmission fluid change, the mechanic told me that my power steering fluid is dirty. A few month later, in the cold winter month, my steering wheel make loud screeching noise when the engine is cold only. The mechanic told me that I have a small power steering leak. But since I don't see the power steering fluid level goes down and the mechanic say I don't have to fix it now, I didn't do anything about it.
About a month ago, there is a squeaking noise come from my steering wheel every time I drive very slowly out of (or into) my driveway and turning the wheel. Now I heard the noise when I drive slowly (10 mph) and turning the wheel too. So what is the problem that cause the noise when I turn the wheel at slow speed? I only drive about 5k miles a year. Is it safe if I just continue to ignore the problem?
Also, the color of my current power steering fluid is amber, but a little dark. Which power steering fluid should I buy?
So my 2013 is making a strange noise that seems to be coming from the front end when turning and going over a bump. While riding with the Service Writer, we also felt that the noise could be coming from the rear of the truck. I think it's two seperate issues, he mentioned something about the rear end noise being "body shift". So two questions:
1. What a "clunking noise" would be coming from around the steering column.
2. What the heck is "body shift"?
Whenever I start or turn off the car and the steering column moves into its position at the time, it makes an odd noise. It's beginning to do it all the time. It's really hard to describe what it sounds like. Is this normal or could lead to another issue down the road?

View 3 RepliesI just got a 2013 Corolla Saturday (manual transmission). So far, I love the car, but I think I'm having a problem with the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel in a parked position, I can hear an audible "rubbing" noise coming from the column. I called the dealership, and spoke not only to the service department, but also to my salesman, who has one too. He says he's never heard that, and the service department assures me it's normal and is because it's an electric motor now instead of a fluid power steering system.
So, do I have reason to be concerned? Experienced this after only 300 or so miles on a new car? We traded a Scion IQ for this Corolla (didn't like the CVT whine in the IQ), and never heard anything like this.
2007 camry le with 85k miles, there is a bad vibration in the front end, the steering wheel rocks, and when you turn right or left at slow speeds there is one knock, not a clicking, just one knock, also noticed the front driver side wheel has heavy wear on the outside corner of the tire, cv joint, bearings...
View 3 RepliesI'm getting this weird sound when i turn on my car and turn the steering wheel left and right not even a full lock just left and right really quickly or slow there is this annoying clunking coming form both of the front wheels atleast thats what i think it is and it feels as something is loose but i checked most of the bolts.. Recently i changed my front wheel bearings inner cv and outer cv joints on both front wheels.. i changed my ball joints and tie rods everything was change within a 4-5months..
Also the other day as i was driving and i could only hear this 20mph and up this weird clunking and vibration in the floor.. no vibration in the steering wheel just the floor and clunking sound.. i know for a fact i need an alignment and possibly new tires.. but what would the clunking be coming form when driving or just parked in place while moving the steering wheel...
Had this warning on information screen? I had this show up, my car wouldn't start and i had a hard time getting the key out. After bringing it to the dealer they claimed they fixed it and now it happened again today... so its back at the dealership
View 2 RepliesI just replaced my rotors, and tie rod ends on both sides. Now I have a clunking noise when I turn left. I also have erratic steering, the car swerves when I take a slight left, and I have to turn further to the right to get it to swerve back straight. If I hit a bump, car swerves left. Is this an alignment issue? I haven't taken it to get aligned yet, everywhere around here is closed. Could it be the Axle?

View 7 RepliesI have a 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab Z71 4x4 that I've had since '97. Last year it started over-heating, the temperature stays exactly where it is supposed to when I'm running down the highway, but starts to over-heat when I slow down to make a turn (up to about 230), but cools back down at an idle. The Truck has a standard 5.7L TBI 350
Trying to remedy this problem I've changed the thermostat 4 times (with a 160, 180, and 195), changed the radiator, changed the map sensor (thinking that it might be leaning the fuel out to much), changed both temperature sensors, replaced the water pump 3 times (the 3rd time I ordered a Flowcooler waterpump from Summit), changed the instrument cluster and computer thinking it might be electrical, replaced the catalytic converter (thinking it might be restricted), I even replaced every hose on the motor, I then installed a brand-new GM 5.7L 350 crate engine but it did the same thing.
After installing the new engine I replaced the knock sensor, the O2 sensor, changed the throttle body (with one from another motor i had for my son's '94), replaced the distributor, replaced the injectors, checked and made sure there wasn't and blockage in the center intake, cut the exhaust at the catalytic converter just to make sure there was no restrictions.
I recently tried a manual temp gauge just to see if the motor was actually getting hot, which it is.
The '04 Camry with 72K miles is making a little of the clunking noise when the steering is hard-over to the right (have not tested left yet). My education on this site says it's the CV joint. So, how urgent is it to get this fixed? The car is getting used probably less than 8K miles/year.
View 4 RepliesI have a 05 Ford escape with 107K. When I make a right turn and applying the brakes I feel a clunking in the brake pedal. checked all front brakes and all is ok. So I looked at the drive shaft on the drivers side. I can move or wobble the drive shaft around on the in board CV going in the transmission. Is that normal?
There are no "Clicking" sounds any where while turning which would tell me that is what it is. Also while driving slow not applying brakes there is a lot of clunking and knocking sounds while going over a few little bumps here and there. Is it the inboard CV joint?
I see a lot of VW Passat 2006 who have the turn signal lights on all the time, like this. How do I get them like that?

View 3 RepliesEvery time you turn the wheel it makes a groaning noise, the power steering fluid is full, it seems to do it more while driving then when at a full stop. sometimes it sounds like it is coming from the center of the car, then it will sound like it is coming from the suspension.

View 3 RepliesMy father who is elderly, has difficulty disengaging the steering column lock on his 2006 Saturn Vue. I also have experienced this problem even after trying to rock the wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key over. This appears to be a known problem and we have had to tow the Vue in for have the cylinders "de-burred," but the problem persists. He has had many vehicles with this feature in the past, but we have never had any problems before. Does this feature can be disabled. I am afraid he will be stranded some place away from home because he is unable to get the car started. I realize this is an anti-theft device, but it that is a risk we are willing to take.
View 6 RepliesI have a '13 SE that I purchased new last year and recently I've noticed a noise in my steering when I am turning the wheel at slow speeds.
It's like a clunking or knocking noise when I turn the wheel either right or left all the way. I'm totally clueless as to what could cause this sort of noises.
So I've been driving my 3GS 350 and every time i make a right turn the left wheel makes this metal shaking sound? or scraping sound? I've checked it out seems like nothings in the way but I don't know how to tell if i have a bad wheel bearing..
