I have a 2012 camry se i4 (29k miles). So, when i shift to R the car start vibrates, i can feel it when i hold the steering wheel. Also, something at the stop sign or red light, i can feel the car vibrates. I live in MN, the weather is really cold and a lot of snow now. Is that why?
View 6 RepliesWhen sitting around in Drive at idle, my 2013 Camry is vibrating VERY noticeably at idle when the A/C is running. Turn the A/C off and idle goes back to normal.
I don't seem to remember this last summer - is this pretty normal for the I4 models? It seems to happen when the engine is at low RPM in gear and goes away if I blip the throttle or put the car into Neutral or Park. Even more shaky in reverse.
I usually run 87 octane, but have tried a tank of 89 and 93 with much the same result, but a little more power from a stop in hot weather. This feels very unusual for a 2013 car - my old 2002 Nissan didn't seem to even notice that the A/C was on.
We have a 2012 camry with about 65,000 miles on it. Recently we've noticed that when the car is in a high gear (5th or 6th) and the RPMs are around 1000-1200 the car feels like its sputtering/shaking. almost like its in too low of a gear. Kind of feels like you're driving on a very rough road.....it happens when you're driving around 35-45mph with your foot barely on the gas. if i give it a little more gas to get the RPMs a little higher it's ok. other than this the car runs perfectly fine. Don't notice any issues on the highway. I don't have any CEL.
initially i thought it had something to do with the torque converter issue that folks were notified by in the mail. we already had the update done but that's not it. The more i research this i think it's probably a fuel/spark issue like dirty injector or bad wire.... I dont think its the trans.
I have a 2012 SE 4 Cylinder Special Edition and just hit 60,000. Lately, I have been noticing this vibrating/shaking in the front of the car when I'm coasting or accelerating at a slow speed. What it could be? I got my front end alignment done thinking it could be that but it still continued.

Can it be replaced with low wattage LEDS?
AND, is that part of the console difficult to R&R, or a major disassembly?
2012 Camry LE I4, 4000 miles, 5 1/2 months old.
When cold after first starting, there's a very noticeable hesitation for a second or two when it makes the 5-6 shift at around 35 mph. I'm fairly sure it's 5-6 because if I hold it in 5th, it doesn't happen till I upshift to 6th. It almost seems like it's some kind of "in between" gears friction, like it hasn't quite let go of 5th but it's already started going into 6th. It's way less noticeable when the engine's warm.
The other issue is a bit of surge and hesitation in cruise control. It won't let you engage CC below a certain speed, around 25 mph. Faster than that, CC can be engaged, and I assume that if it's programmed to let you engage at that speed it should work properly. I have a daily drive on long stretch with a 35 mph speed limit, and I engage the CC. I can feel the engine surge and back off, surge and back off the entire time. OTOH, I can hold it at 35 with my foot, and no surging. I assume it's the interaction of the CC and the auto trans.
Is it worth even mentioning these issues to the dealer? In the past, I've had cars in for subtle problems like this, and they've first tried to persuade me that it's normal, then if I persisted, spent a fair amount of time with the car and didn't find anything. (I'm not referring to any specific dealer here). I don't want to waste a lot of time with the dealer for no results.
I just wanted to see if others are experiencing a hard kinda jerky shift from 4th to 5th around 40mph while in Drive. It's not super bad but noticeable when light on the accelerator. The shift to 5th drops engine speed to around 1100rpm.
View 11 RepliesI am planning to buy this 2012 Camry LE (38k), automatic, I am on the test run and realized that the car's shifting from park to reverse is harder than shifting from reverse to drive. What I mean is, it is really hard to move the selector from Park to Reverse.
View 6 RepliesMy 2012 Toyota Camry SE V6. 37,500 miles. Occasionally when I'm parked shifting down to reverse it's so tight/put effort to shift & it literally thumps the entire car.. I heard to put the E-BRAKE/PARKING BRAKE down BEFORE shifting it to park & it worked but occasionally even with the E-BRAKE/PARKING BRAKE it still jerks the entire car going from PARK to REVERSE.
Also going from REVERSE to NEUTRAL it gives off a little vibration underneath me ALL THE TIME going from REVERSE to NEUTRAL.. I know these are so many questions that are probably a no-brainer answer but I'm looking to see if any one here had/has or heard of a similar or exact problem. Is the trans fluid low or dirty? I saw the CARFAX I didn't see the services he's done it's only been 1 owner on this car I'm the second. Previous owner leased it brand new.
Drove a new 1.8T VW Passat last night. 170hp/184ftpd torque. Huge difference! My Camry feels totally underpowered now. Also the transmission seems to shift into high gears way too early. Had reprogram recall done and shifting was better for a little while but now is back to being the same as before.
View 14 RepliesI bought a brand new 2016 Camry LE. Sometimes when car sits for a while, and I shift from P to R, there is a clunking noise with foot on the brake. I tried with the parking break engage and it still does it.
View 4 RepliesThis morning my 2011 Camry LE won't start. Based on looking at car manual I think the 'Engine Immobilizer System' is still engaged and perhaps not recognizing my key, neither of them since I tried the spare as well. The instrument panel stays black and I can not turn the key or even move the gear shift into Neutral.
Any way to fix this without calling for a tow? So.... found out the problem! The steering wheel was angled slightly. With key in the ignition we jerked the steering wheel slightly and it released the ignition and was able to start.
Getting an ECM communications error and car won't start. Checked all the wires and didn't find anything wrong. When I put the car to the ON position the check engine light doesn't come on at all.

The weather has gotten extremely cold here and when I start driving in the morning or from any cold starts the transmission doesn't shift out of second gear. After I drive it a mile or so and slow almost to a stop it will shift normally until I park it.
It has 125000 miles on it and I hope this isn't a serious problem because it is a great car and has been well taken care of. Looks brand new on the inside and out and I've never had any problems until now.
I have been having a problem where my 2012 XLE will not start. I can get into the car. I can press the start button and all the dash lights will turn on but yet it will not let me press on brake to start the car. It is almost like the theft deterrent system will not turn off. It is not happening all the time but has happened quite a few times.
This last time it happened, it was far from home on vacation late at night. In the end I am still not sure how I was finally able to get the car to start. Also, another thing that has happened is that I will be DRIVING down the road and it will say the key is not detected.
I have taken it to Toyota service center and they cannot find the issue. They say the only way they would be able to find the issue is if they can duplicate it.
My Daughter owns a 2000 Camry. It has a very annoying habit of not starting when it is warm (think driving to the gas station, turning the car off to fill it and then it doesn't start again). We have tried new solenoids, a new starter and several other tweaks but nothing seems to fix the problem. Recently she discovered if she jiggles the gear shift lever (it's an automatic) it will start. So, obviously she gear shift lever is not finding Park or Neutral so that it can be in position to start. She has experimented with this concept and it appears to be the only thing that consistently solves the starting issue. What would we have to fix in the gear shift lever, or elsewhere, to fix this problem?
View 5 RepliesI recently bought a new Elantra 2012, 2 months ago. While driving it during the first month, I heard a strange vibrating noise. I went to the dealer, since it's under warranty until 2019, and they told me that when Hyundai did their recall on their Engines, the head gasket was constructed wrong and they just had to order another head to fix it.
Fast-forward two weeks and I finally got my car back. At first, it's perfect! No noise or anything, but about a week later, yesterday, it starts to make the noise again.
For my second noise, I know it's the brakes. They squeak when I stop, even though the company I bought the car from is not allowed to sell brakes >50%, I'm assuming they did anyway. The problem I have with this is that yesterday, while on the highway, the breaks made the squealing noise regardless if I was braking or not. As long as the car was in motion, it made noise. Should I be concerned about this?
I just bought a 2012 Camry SE. Came with one master key. Bought a replacement online and I am about to have it cut/programmed. I called an auto locksmith and the guy indicates he can program the key to start the car but not the remote part of the key. How do I program this part?
View 5 RepliesI used to drive a manual shift Honda Accord. When I was starting the car on snow, I often put the car in 2nd gear, and it was much less likely for the wheels to spin. I now have a 2014.5 SE. I believe that older generation Camry has a switch that allows the car to be start in the 2nd gear, but it seems that the feature is gone with the 7th generation. Is that true?
View 7 RepliesWe just brought home a new Tiguan 2012 Automatic and when we are in Drive (D) and going about 26-30 mph the transmission stays in a high gear (5th) and makes a vibrating hum.
It happens on a flat road when someone is in front of us and forces us to stay in the 26-30mph range.
It feels like it wont drop back to 4th at this speed and is overloaded in 5th. When we give it some gas it will hum and lag even more then finallly downshift.
Tiptronic and Sport seem fine but Drive does not feel normal in this range.
When we took back to dealer at 130 miles on the odometer, the tech sat in on the drive and experienced the symptom. His conclusion was that the car is in its "Adaptive Learning" phase and it should work itself out after about 600+ miles.
