How can I fix these deep scratches on the back of a side mirror?
View 14 RepliesHow can I fix these deep scratches on the back of a side mirror?
View 14 Replieswe've had our 2010 Ford Escape limited about a month now. Don't know how it happened, but somehow now there's 4 or 5 2 inch scratches in the drivers side view mirror. These mirrors are heated, how can I tell if they're still operational now? I know scratches in the class can compromise the heat function. I want to get it fixed immediately if it doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesAny diagram for replacing a side mirror? I've read the threads about how to replace them, but if there was a cutaway view or diagram, it would sure make my job easier. I have a 2007 Prius, a replacement mirror, and the desire to fix it myself. I just do much better if I can visual the job at hand.
View 4 RepliesSaw an exterior scratch thread, and thought I'd start an interior one...
View 12 RepliesLooking for info on disassembling a sideview mirror with LEDs for the purpose of fixing the LEDs? Only a couple of the lights stop working and it only happens some time, so I know the LEDs are good... I just want to fix the solder joints.
View 9 RepliesI picked up my Prius III last month (love it) and noticed some hairline scratches in the black spoiler, but thought they might wax out as they are pretty faint (they didn't).
Looks like the dealer ran a gritty wash mitt or sponge over the spoiler and swirled the finish. In the bright sun you can see many light scratches in the finish.
I thought about using a gentle polish, but wasn't sure if that was a good move as I think it is just a high gloss plastic and not paint. The last thing I want to do is add more damage.
I did wash, clay, and wax my car as soon as I could and spent some time detailing it and thought the scratches were reduced, but had it out today and they are still there.
I have a rental 2012 Avalon for two weeks. Yesterday I noticed extensive scratches at the front/right corner of the front bumper. The scratches could be covered with two hands. Some scratches are as deep as the primer, but not on the plastic.
I am pretty sure that they are not there until last one or two days ( it has been raining, they would not be very visible when wet). The scratches looks kind of old, could it be that they were fixed in a substandard way so that they are washed off in the rain and became visible?
I have doing some modifications to my 14' Camry that include the following:
I saw on a Honda Civic one day a very deep blue bulb on his factory DRL's. I am assuming it's shared with his high beams? I loved the color and I'm not worried about sacrificing the high beam for this bulb. Looking for deep blue bulbs that are plug and play for my Camry? This is primarily for aesthetics.
I just installed a back up camera - great picture clear day and night but the problem I am having is the guidelines on the camera don't line up with the side of the car, the driver side seems fine but the passenger is around a foot short, I have mounted the pavement twice so far.
View 1 RepliesOur 2012 camry se had a problem with the fuel pump running when the engine was off. Several hours after we came home I went into the garage for something and heard a humming noise. First thought was a distant neighbor using a leaf blower, then realized it was coming from the rear of car. definitely coming from gas tank area. Turned key on, then off and noise was gone.
View 6 RepliesI was driving down the street when another car side swiped mine. There wasn't any noticeable damage, but the side mirror on my driver side popped out.
It doesn't look like anything is actually broken. The mirror just popped out. Can I pop it back in or will I need to get it looked at?
The reason I ask is I didn't notice any other parts of the mirror on the street, but can't seem to get it to pop back in.
Found little black box behind the rear view mirror. First I thought it's rain sensor for wiper, but my car doesn't equipped with rain sensing wiper, so what it is?
View 14 RepliesCame out to find my drivers mirror had been ran into by someone walking by and now the mirror won't retract. You can hear the gear moving, but the housing doesn't move. The mirror works just fine, just the folding action is not working. Before I remove the door panel to remove the mirror assy, can you replace the gear inside or do you have to replace the entire assy?
View 6 RepliesOK this is not your ordinary fingerprint. My new Camry has a glue fingerprint on the edge or the rear view mirror. I am assuming the person that installed the mirror accidentally touched it leaving a perfect glue fingerprint. I really do not want to go back to the dealer just for this. How to remove the print?
View 5 RepliesI bought a new dash cam for the 2012 TCH. I've placed it in front of the rear view mirror and want to run the power cable to the fuse box. I don't want to wire it in to the light or homelink since those are "hot" all the time, and I want my dashcam powered completely off when the car is stopped (I have a device I can wire in that enables it to stay on, but that device is way too big to fit in the car ceiling anyway).
Is it possible to run a wire up from the rearview mirror area, through the car ceiling, and down the windshield/front door post (where the curtain airbag is)? Obviously, I don't want to mess up the curtain airbag.
How do I set the auto dim to "off" by default? It's on by default and I don't like it b/c I can't get use to it.
View 8 RepliesI broke my passenger side mirror on my '07 and I have a guy that will sell me a set off of a 2012... will they fit?
View 2 RepliesI got in very minor accident the other day and the glass part of the passenger mirror popped out and broke on the ground. I just got my replacement glass from Amazon (I think the brand is Fit System or something). The rear tab is broke on the new part and the glass piece isn't anywhere near factory quality.
Where I can purchase an OEM replacement online? Just looking for the glass part. Also - is there a trick to snapping it back on? For some reason I cant get the top tabs to snap into place, even with the OEM broken mirror (when I tried to put it back on.
Part # is 73146 RH >PPE+PS< CAV1 REV
I broke the mirror glass on the drivers side mirror. New glass was ordered and I connected all the parts back together. I believe I have everything in the correct place inside and the mirror snapped back into place, but the tension is not there. The mirror is very loose, and I cannot get it to tighten up.
The white bracket that connect to the new glass and snaps into the white motor is the part that I cannot get to tighten up. Do I need to add glue to this portion of the mirror?
I failed my vehicle inspection today because I have scratches left over from some old windshield wipers on the driver's side. I didn't own the car when this happened. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new windshield, and the scratches aren't that deep at all (I ran my finger over the entirety of the scratch and barely felt it). I'm scared to go to any windshield repair shops because I feel like they'll lie and tell me the only choice is to replace my windshield (which I can't afford). I attached some pictures. I was thinking maybe a buffer or some type of gel?

I have an 08 camry v6 with 29500 miles, I've noticed 3 issues that are happening at this point.
1. When I hit 70 mph the steering wheel shakes, I had new tires installed at 25K and smooth braking. The shaking also goes away if I go above 85 mph.
2. I have two plastic Dashboard screws under the black cover that rests around the dash that keep falling out and I cant tighten them back in.
3. My drivers side mirror is vibrating when I start to drive at idle it's fine.
Other than that the car drives great..
