I have a 2012 Camry LE. When I let off the gas between 25 & 40 mph, the transmission aggressively brakes. Occasional acceleration surges when braking. And when I need to go, it sometimes does not want to go until I punch it. All problems are sporadic.
View 2 RepliesI have an 82 GMC suburban with a 6.2 diesel, TH400 transmission and a NP265 transfercase. The last day of June we moved from Greeley Colorado to Southern South Dakota. Tems were as high as 107 that day. I had to stop several times to let the transmission cool. I didn't want to burn it out. I was towing a Hyundai Accent (2002) on a Uhaul Car Dolly. The trans temp gauge registered as high as 210 degrees. If it got hot I would stop and let it cool. However recently I changed the rear axle, the pinion spider gears seized and exploded. I think I went from a 3.73 gear to a 3.08. However I am not certain. Certainly seems like it when I pass people at 30 according to the speedometer that used to pass me. However, recently it seems to have developed an occasional shudder as I accelerate. It's mainly after alot of in town driving. I checked the brakes, serviced the rear end, and checked the fluid levels.
View 1 RepliesI have a 98 ford Explorer that has some serious trans problems. It all started a while back when I was pulling a small 10 foot trailer and when I go to where I was going the trans puked out what looked like all of its internal fluids. It was a hot day, and these problems seem to be exacerbated by the heat but who knows. Yes the check engine light is on. I also have the occasional O/D OFF light blinking at me. As of late the vehicle has started to act like it has a stall converter on it. I have to rev to nearly 3k RPM before it will engage.
I changed the fluid and filter about 2 months ago and the fluid is already grey and nasty. The vehicle has also started going FORWARD in ALL gears, Reverse, Neutral, etc. all are forward gears now. The trans occasionally overheats and pukes out a large amount of fluid but I cannot tell where it is coming from. At road speed (55 MPH) the engine surges when it is at a constant 2500 RPM. I know my outlook is grim but if I just need a new torque converter I would like to know before I go the the Salvage yard for a different transmission. BTW. The engine WAS replaced around 12,000 miles ago with a donor engine from a flipped vehicle.
My 2012 Toyota Camry SE V6. 37,500 miles. Occasionally when I'm parked shifting down to reverse it's so tight/put effort to shift & it literally thumps the entire car.. I heard to put the E-BRAKE/PARKING BRAKE down BEFORE shifting it to park & it worked but occasionally even with the E-BRAKE/PARKING BRAKE it still jerks the entire car going from PARK to REVERSE.
Also going from REVERSE to NEUTRAL it gives off a little vibration underneath me ALL THE TIME going from REVERSE to NEUTRAL.. I know these are so many questions that are probably a no-brainer answer but I'm looking to see if any one here had/has or heard of a similar or exact problem. Is the trans fluid low or dirty? I saw the CARFAX I didn't see the services he's done it's only been 1 owner on this car I'm the second. Previous owner leased it brand new.
Over the last two weeks I've had a couple instances where I'm moving around 30mph and I gently accelerate, you can tell that the engine/transmission is about to downshift and while pushing the accelerator just slightly you can feel the car shutter (not terribly noticeable) not accelerate as well as a noticeable amount of blue smoke will come out of the exhaust. It's happened twice now. After a few seconds the car will return to normal and the smoke stops.
Camry is a 2012 SE, 4cylinder, 31,000 miles. It's had the torque converter software update. No lights on the dash. I've also stopped after this happened and the engine sounded normal, oil level is normal.
My 07 Honda Accord has an occasional popping and clicking sound. It happens most when I'm in reverse and cutting the wheel into a parallel park. My mechanic thought it was a transmission issue and did a transmission flush...but it's not happening when I'm switching gears and it seems and feels to me like it's more in the body of the car.
View 2 RepliesI have Toyota Camry 2011 4-dr LE. While I was on a road trip recently, the car did something very odd. The vehicle started to cut out and it then stopped. I have to note that it was at a high altitude (somewhere in the Colorado Mountains). After the incident I was able to start up again and the vehicle operated as expected. This is not the problem I wanted to ask about, however I thought I would mention it in case you think it might be related.
Here is the problem I have: When coming to a slow stop or driving in the slow traffic, sometimes the vehicle seems to accelerate when the break is released, as if I have pressed the gas pedal. I would expect that once slowed down the Camry will maintain its speed. Other times while my foot is still on the brake pedal (lightly pressing it during a slow down) I would feel as if I have released the brake for a second and the car accelerates (at which time my reflexes kick in and I press the pedal harder). In addition, the transmission seems to hesitate on up shift. I have noticed multiple times that the transmission does not shift on-time and I could feel it when I drive slower.
So here is my question: Could the problem with acceleration during braking be also related to transmission down/up shift problems? Since the problem with brake malfunctioning and engine acceleration is very infrequent, when I took the car to the dealer they could not find anything wrong.
Last weekend I got the first brake job done on my mom's 2012 Camry SE which has a bit over 43K. The car was shaking upon braking at 60+ mph.
To keep it short, the pads on the vehicle were not even half way used. I wanted to re-use the pads, but I had already purchased another set (ceramic). So got those installed and re-surfaced the rotor.
My question is, can I use the original pads when I get new rotors on the next brake job?
My Bluetooth was causing crackling and dropping of audio. I couldn't figure out what was causing it. Eventually I made the connection: the brakes. Every time I braked, the Bluetooth would crackle and drop (but not disconnect).
I purchase car a month ago certified from a Toyota dealer.
Coming from my truck, the V6 Camry is just as quick. What I have immediately noticed is the lack of braking power from my Camry. My basis of comparison is my truck with had quad opposing piston front calipers which will be higher performing than the floating type we have. If it weren't a lease, I'd do the highlander brake conversion on it.
For rotors: I looked up part numbers from a 2013 SE V6 and found them to be the same as a 2015 XSE V6. (TireRack doesn't have the 2015-16 brake options yet). Since they look to be the same OEM part numbers, that should mean the StopTechs for the 2013 should fit my 2016.
As for pads, it looks like TireRack had Hawk HPS and Hawk HPS 5.0.
My sante fe turbo has a bad surge when you are on the throttle it just dont pull smooth at all.
View 3 RepliesThis car has 210k miles with very minimal problems. I'm the original owner and have always done my own repair work. For the last two years the car has been surging on acceleration. It is fairly rapid surging and it is intermittent. When it is especially bad I can let up on the throttle, press again and it may be OK...until the next time I accelerate. I have replaced a lot of parts, there are no trouble codes and nothing noticed in the data streams. I've tried four throttle position sensors (second one failed and set a code) and nothing makes any difference.
Here is a list of other parts I've replaced since this problem started, again nothing changes the surging, fuel pump (failed level sensor), fuel pressure regulator (pressure was on low side of range), idle air motor, map sensor, mass air flow sensor (swapped with my S10 pickup). I'm planning to donate the car to an organization after I get this problem fixed (my wife won't let me donate it with the surging problem since it could be safety issue if the car doesn't accelerate when its needed).
It all started around 18,000 miles when I noticed a vibration under highway braking. I convinced myself that everything was fine for the time being and I would have the dealer inspect the brakes at my 20,000 service. Fast forward to the service and all four of my rotors were warped. The dealer turned them all and said I wouldn't have any more problems. The car sits at 28,500 miles now and I'm starting to get the same vibration sensation as I had at 18,000 miles. I'm definitely going to be bringing the car in for it's 30,000 mile service and I will bring up the issue again. What type of warranty is on the brakes as I hope they will replace the rotors this time.
View 14 RepliesThe other day I reversed into a parking spot, and noticed as I was braking and reversing a loud clicking sound is coming from what seems the front driver side engine area. Every time I would brake it would click. I read of this problem on the Gen 6 and apparently there is a TSB for the front Rotors needing to me re-machined? The funny thing is this only happens when I reverse and brake, but it only happens randomly.
View 14 RepliesIf I brake hard a dozen times, 8 or 9 will be normal, a couple times it will pull to the right but as long as your hands are on the wheel you can barely tell, and maybe once it will pull really hard. I have Hawk super duty pads and Ebc rotors with less than 5k on them and I just replaced the front calipers and hardware because I thought that was the problem.
It's not even consistent. Could possibly be rear calipers (rear also has new Hawk pads and Ebc rotors with less than 3k on them) but I don't think it would pull that hard. Tire pressure is even between sides btw.
OEM plus. 93k. Um tune. Evoms intake.
Did the plugs and coil packs, fuel filter, cleaned throttle body (Did a vagcom alignment) as well as some other insignificant maintance.
Car ran fine for weeks after, but recently it has started to bounce around randomly at idle. Like 650rpm(normal) for a few seconds. Then it will Slowly climb to 800rpms, hold there for a few seconds. Then back down to 650ish for a few seconds, then back up to 800 for a few seconds. And so on. It's very subtle and very random. Then sometimes when accelerating, I can feel it in the gas peddle. Like a slight pulsing power loss. Very slight and of a similar rhythm to the idle issue.
I do have a check engine light for Load Calculation cross check-p1143-001 upper limit exceeded. But that has been a battle I have been fighting for a year or so, and I think that is some kind of vacuum leak, but this rpm issue just started a few weeks ago. The only thing I was thinking so far is that when I was doing the plugs and coil packs, I noticed that there was a slight bit of what looked like dielectric grease on each coil pack already from the factory. So I didn't put any more in the coil packs sleeve part that fits over the plug. So was that a mistake? And if it was a mistake would this be a symptom of that?
I noticed recently that my car started this popping noise when braking in reverse gear. I never ran over anything and babied it for all the 6000 miles it has on the ODO. 2015 Camry

View 9 Repliesrecently acquired an 07 mercury metallic with 118000 one owner and about 8 pages of maintenance all done at Lexus. car is in fantastic shape new tires, and brakes the interior still looks and feels brand new, to date I have changed the oil full synthetic 0W 20, eng and cabin air filters Toyota serviced the transmission changed the plugs with OEM off ebay. Rotated tires, rear diff fluid i couldnt find 75 / 85 anywhere so it wasn't too expensive from Toyota. the front left low beam was flickering so I replaced them I followed cucusdad instructions and it went as he mentioned about an hour per side, although I did take the opportunity to clean the inner fender well and the inside of the tires and rims.T hrough the years we have owned countless cars a couple of brand new ones although this is the first Lexus, I am very handy in the garage and have an understanding of electronics and maintenance upon reading this forum I think folks perhaps want perfect that's impossible as for mentioned this vehicle has been well maintained and obviously personally cared for.

None of these anywhere unreasonable on any car with similar miles and production date regardless the manufacture
I recently noticed a very noticeable whine coming from the engine bay during acceleration. It is especially noticeable when accelerating hard to about 4000 rpm and then letting off the gas completely. The pitch changes with RPMs as it spins down. It literally sounds like a super charger spooling up. The car only has 4000 miles and seems to have been doing it since new.
View 14 RepliesMy 2012 Camry 2.4L is sometimes dangerously slow when accelerating from a stop. Totally intermittent. I can put my foot in the gas pedal and the car takes its sweet time getting up to speed. Almost like trying to start in 2nd gear in a standard transmission vehicle. I've had the torque converter software patch.
To be honest with you, this is a huge safety issue. Not sure I can trust my car to accelerate. My car has 44k miles and I've done all the scheduled maintenance and run only top tier fuel.
