I know it's a typical new car issue but every time I look at my car I see a new chip. None of them are major, usually just some missing clear coat but yesterday I found one that looked like it had been masked with fingernail polish. How do I remove this without damaging the paint underneath? Also, how do I level the repair after the clear coat?
View 2 RepliesThe paint is starting to get cracks on the hood and fenders of my 2008 Honda civic its dark blue with 43,700 miles the dealer said the warranty for paint is 36 months or 36,000 miles. They said its the clear coat and the black and dark blue paint has been doing this.He is checking with Honda to see if they will paint the hood and fenders for me.I feel that in time the rest of the car will get these cracks to and they should repaint the entire car, since they admitted that it is a problem with the clear coat.The car is always garaged and waxed often.What do you think
View 5 RepliesI bought my 2004 toyota tundra limited addition brand new it has 310000 miles. It runs like brand new. The only things to complain about is the paint and piston slap. My paint faded and clear coat started peeling 6 years ago. I notice piston slap 6 to 7 years ago. Runs like brand new. Open the hood no leaks not dirty very clean. I've maintained this vehical from day one it serves me well hoping it will out live me. I don't see to many 04/05 on the streets.
View 1 RepliesMy MY2012 Passat 2.5 SE currently at 37k miles all of a sudden is showing clear coat peeling near the trunk/rear panel area. Car is a CPO and clean carfax (no accidents) and currently still under warranty. Planning on taking it back to the dealership and hopefully start a case for warranty work under VWoA.
I've never encountered clearcoat failure this early on, case in point my B5 (MY1999) still has excellent clear coat uniformity despite the paint/body being 17+ years old.
So I noticed a couple of weird patches on my mothers 2006 Silver Camry. After about a couple of month(s) it looks like clearcoat failure. My mom is the first owner and bought it brand new. The car has 90k miles.

View 2 RepliesSeems like the clear coat on both of my headlights is starting to get milky. Whatever is going on, it is happening from the outside. I buffed on them with scratch remover and put a coat of wax on them, (looks a little better now) but there is something going on.
View 19 RepliesI'm planning on doing a paint correction on my car and was wondering if I need to be concerned on how much clear coat will come off during the process? I'm going to be washing and claying it beforehand and using a dual action polisher for removing the existing swirls and micro scratches. It's a black car if that makes any difference. The reason I ask is that I'm not a detailer but have heard that some of the modern autos don't have that much clear coat on top of the paint or that some areas (like the edges) don't have clear coat compared to other areas. I also bought the car used (its about 3-4 years old) so I don't know its washing history.
View 7 RepliesI got our car back from the dealer for catalytic C. Replacement and the pressure tire light was on. Check tire pressure in the morning and went up to 40psi to see if they reset. No luck.
Lower back to normal after three weeks all tires including spare are at 33psi. Also, the clear coat on my wheels is peeling off.2006 2.0T 85K Miles.
I Have blisters in the clear coat of the steering wheel. Two have opened and the clear coat has started peeling off.

On the hood, just beyond the 3M plastic covering is a small, silver-dollar sized area where the clear coat on the paint has begun to deteriorate and peel back leaving the paint exposed.

I have a quick question regarding the ability to unlock my SE V6 by just touching the door handle... Might be a dumb one so brace yourselves... If one were to go and say have the passenger of the vehicle tap the passenger side front door handle will that unlock the car in the same regards as touching the drivers door handle? For example if I were putting something in the trunk and had the FOB in my pocket and the passenger wanted to get in but I still had the FOB could they unlock the car the same way I would with the driver's door? My car does not allow the passenger to unlock the doors. Can it be programmed to have this work? Furthermore, is there a way to program the drivers door handle to unlock all the doors instead of just the drivers side door?
View 11 RepliesThe drivers side and passenger side doors will not unlock using my key fobs, nor by touching the door handles. The only thing that happens when I touch the front passenger door handle is that the back doors will unlock. I have to enter my car through the back doors, and unlock the front doors manually. Also, by touching the passenger door handle, I get a series of beeps (3-5). What may be causing this, and how to fix it?
View 2 RepliesBlack paint flaking off the mufflers. I was hosing the car off I hosed the black part of the mufflers and paint started coming off. Looks like hell now. I plan on cleaning them up and putting a few coats of flat black grill or high temp paint on them.
View 5 RepliesI was out and about yesterday running errands and I had to parallel park my car. Well, I got in my spot fine and I was sitting in my car getting some packages ready to be dropped off at the post office. About a minute, after I parked, I saw someone attempting to park in the spot in front of me and she couldn't do it. She attempted it 5 times, all while I'm sitting in my car, worried that she's going to hit my car.
So on what was her last attempt, she backed up dangerously close to my car causing me to reverse further, forgetting that there was a high curb next to me. I gave it a little too much gas and I scratched the crap (4 inch x 1 inch) out of my bumper/side. How to fix this without breaking the bank unnecessarily? .
On the passenger side where the door opens up the paint seems to be scraping off... It's pretty noticeable on my black car. It's only this one side.. The door doesn't touch that piece so I'm not sure what caused it.

View 5 RepliesWife just purchased a 2013 Toyota Camry LE with 32,000 miles on it. Great looking car.Tried to use the aux input to play some music from my iPhone. Immediately noticed that on the first song I played, some of the vocals were missing (only played the music). Went to the next song and had the vocals but something still wasn't right (it was missing certain parts of the music that accompanied the song). Also in general the sound quality wasn't great compared to the audio input on my truck.
View 4 RepliesI just got a new 2013 Camry SE with the basic (non-nav) touch display and the Galaxy S3 registers and will play music and display the artist and track name most of the time.However, I have no option of looking at the artists or selecting albums. The right and left buttons on the wheel controls do nothing, and I can only skip forward and backward one track.
On page 54 of the display manual, it shows a browse button that is not there on my screen. I cannot get track lists of any kind. I should also note that the song progress bar is not displayed as it is in the picture.
Is there a certain app that I can use that would make the phone more compatible? I'm a bit shocked that a phone as commercially successful as the S3 is not working properly with a 2013 vehicle.
