We are finding that recently the dash vents will suddenly blast out cold air and the A/C light comes on in our 2013 Camry. The dealer just gave my wife some excuse about humidity etc. This is without having made any adjustments. This is my wife's car but I experienced it myself last week. I said what the heck is that all about and she then told me that it just started acting up.
View 12 RepliesI bought my 2012 Camry in December and have noticed that the outer air vents on the dash (the big ones beside the doors) are always blowing air regardless of the setting of the system. If I have the air set to blow from the floor or defrost the air blows from where it is supposed to but also blows from these 2 dash vents, the center vents on the dash close like they should when not selected. I'm not talking about a little bit of air that may be getting around the system, it is a full flow of air. It's like these two vents are always open with no way to close them. I have had it in for service and had them check this and they told me that it is the way the system is designed. I find it hard to believe that Toyota would design it this way. Is this normal for all 2012 Camry's?
View 7 RepliesMy dad just got a 2012 Camry LE, with the 4 cylinder engine. The heater seems to be working fine except for the floor vents. When I select that option on the HVAC control, I can hear the fan working but there's absolutely no airflow coming out from under the dash.
View 14 RepliesWe have been having this ongoing issue with the ventilation system in our 2013 Camry XLE during cold outside temperatures since last fall.
When the system is in the auto setting and set around 70-72 deg. F, the system delivers a comfortable temperature from the floor vents or a combination of the floor vents and defrost. The temperature that I measure is usually in the 100-115 deg. F range. After about 20 - 30 minutes of driving, the system will switch on the dash vents along with the floor vents. At this time the temperature coming out of the dash vents is cold and frequently measured as low as 53 deg. F. Along with this the floor vents are still delivering warm air. Been an automatic system I would expect the supply temperature to modulate to maintain the cabin temperature to the desired setting but not in this manner. All this is on overcast very cold winter days.
I drove the vehicle the other day when the outside temp was around 12 deg. F with the sun shining resulting in a bit of a greenhouse effect inside. With the control set at 70 deg. F and in auto I noticed that the air was only coming out of the dash vents and was a bit warmer this time (about 60 deg. F). This scenario is a bit more acceptable although the floor area was cold as expected considering the cold outside temperature.
I have taken the car to our dealer who has tried to diagnose the situation and have replaced one sensor that resulted in no change. They have been in contact with Toyotas technical dept. as well for assistance. They are indicating that all the air comes from one box and it is impossible to get colder air from the dash vents. Obviously with our current situation this is not the case. The service manager at the dealer was hoping to test the operation of another similar vehicle but so far has been unsuccessful.
This has been going on since last fall after my wife complained about it and was not happening the previous winter. Presently when this situation occurs we switch the control to manual damper control to shut off the cold air blowing in our faces.
My heater and a/c on my car have been acting up!
Yesterday I got into my car I turned on my heater and it didn't work! So I pushed the a/c button and that did nothing either! No air came out of the vents at all even on full blast... So I tried turning it off and back on and nothing happen then it finally worked but when i tried to turn it off it wouldn't turn off then randomly turned off by its self!!!
Whats going on and what I should check for this problem ?
My Drl indicator light did not show on the dash when I drive in a sunny day(Auto Switch), but it show up when it dusk.

View 8 RepliesMy 2001 F250SD 5.4L is doing something odd. When I have the A/C on and accelerate, it shifts from blowing out cold air from dash vents and goes to blowing lukewarm air out from the defrost vents on top. As soon as I decelerate or tap the brake pedal, it switches back to the dash vents and blows cold again. Even minor acceleration switches the air from blowing out the dash vents to blowing out the defroster vents.

View 4 RepliesMy 2001 Toyota Camry V6's A/C has been very slow get cold air through the vents since the weather has warmed up. I've heard of A/C systems needing to be recharged. We just had the 90,000 maintenance done on it 4 months ago. Is this more likely the solution than putting coolant into the reservoir under the hood myself?

I've check my coolant level and it was getting close to low, so I added more and I've checked the fuses and they look good. So, what it could be or how i can fix it?
View 14 RepliesLately, I've noticed that when I start the car in the morning, the radiator fans come on at full blast, even though it's around 20 degrees F (not all the time, but most days). My temperature gauges all show (what I assume are) correct temps as it starts out cold, water first goes to 200 and stops, then oil slowly climbs and stops at 200 I believe.
They don't climb any faster or slower that I've seen, and usually by the time I get to work (around 20 minutes), the oil temp has probably climbed about 3/4 of the way to normal while the water is steady at 200.
Is this normal? I don't recall this happening, as I would've noticed as the fans are quite loud at full blast. I haven't had a chance to run a diagnostic scan yet, but the car hasn't warned me of anything either.
I can't find the button to reset the TPMS light on my dash. It's not even in the glove compartment.
View 7 RepliesI have done some reading of past threads regarding both Gen 7 Camry with people having an issue with a strong smell coming from their vents after perhaps 1K miles or less on their vehicle. Looks like some people had it fixed (some fixing it by themselves) while others continued to experience the problem. Similar thread regarding Toyota Camry Hybrid but only brief thread. Then another thread regarding perhaps another smell like from plastics /battery (?) in Prius while I was on the Prius threads.
Has this problem been addressed/resolved either by Toyota or by owners who simply fixed it themselves? I also do not know if the Prius offensive odor (someone who was testing them noticed it while test driving) is a totally different thing (like I say someone said it was from plastics or battery itself, not sure.... )
These are things I never even thought of /considered when looking for a new vehicle, and never experienced in my older Camry.
I have a Limited with auto-climate. Temp is at 73 outside temp is 90. So obviously it is not just sucking in outside air. But with the AC light on I can tell the compressor is cycling as it pulls on the engine and vibrates the car more than if it is off. But with it off I am still getting cold air. How?
View 9 Repliesupgrade the audio. I just got off a chat with a Crutchfield advisor. Apparently since the tweeters aren't made to standard size, they will require custom brackets. Crutchfield doesn't sell anything that'd fit the dash on a Camry. The closest is the Infinity, which is 0.017" too tall (that seems workable to me).

I see that people have successfully upgraded the dash. What's going on? Did everyone build their own brackets? Or can I just ignore that 0.017" difference?
I have a round plastic disc and one side is tacky to stick to the dash. Are these things easy to remove off the dash years down the road? I'm also worried the circle will be discolored from the rest of the dash.
View 3 RepliesSo I just got some winter tires put on 10 minutes while driving the trac control started blinking and then all the lights on the dash came on and speedometer just went to zero. Still drives but odometer isn't adding mileage and also seems to loose power steering while driving.
View 4 RepliesMy 2010 Camry was great the first two winters. Now after the windshield was replaced this summer, the dash rattles against the windshield when it is below 45 degrees and hitting a bump. The same rattle is heard from one A pillar too. Is this related to the windshield replacement or the age of the Camry? It would to determine if I should get another windshield replacement or wedge foam for rattle abatement.
View 1 RepliesMy 2014 camry won't start. I put my key in the ignition and the dash lights come on and blinks once and won't start. The brake pedal won't depress and the steering wheel stays stiff.
I was messing with my sound system the day before and now the car won't start. I've check the battery and it's good and has juice. I've checked all the fuses and relays seem to be fine. Everything work on the car it just won't start.
These cars have a main relay or something with the ignition switch?
