Camry 2012+ :: Peeling Alloy Wheel On 2016?
Sep 21, 2015
My 2016 Camry SE Special Edition has 300 miles on its odometer now, and I just noticed the front right wheel has two spots where the alloy wheel has a plastic film that appears to be peeling back.

Seems like the black paint on the back of all our mufflers slowly but surely disappears. I'm guessing high heat - flat black (if such a thing exists) would be the way to go.

I have a 2003 Toyota Sienna with standard factory alloy wheels and tires on it. The wheels are 15" x 6.5". A few years ago I saw a Sienna with different alloy wheels, and I really liked 'em. I have been seeing the same (likeable) wheels on Camrys recently; in fact I found a guy who's willing to swap his wheels for mine. Thing is, Camry wheels are 15" x 6", a half inch narrower than mine, and I have not been able to find the same style wheel in 15" x 6.5".
I've done some research and found that the bolt and bore pattern are the same, and offsets are close (within 7mm).Assuming the wheels mount up and don't crash into bodywork or suspension or brake parts, is this swap a mechanically sound (or at least reasonable) thing to do?

I have 2016 camry 4 cyl have roughly 2300 miles and I'm noticing a click click while turning the steering wheel left or right while stationary and vehicle running sounds like it's coming from under the dash.
I've seen there is a tsb for other year camry intermediate shaft issue, my vehicle is lowered on eibach Springs and would hate to take back to dealer and have them blame it on the springs in a vehicle that has only 2,500 miles.

It's coming off on all 4 wheels and its OEM original paint. I can see other areas where the paint has cracked and starting to lift as well. These Lexus wheel paint really suck... My Volvo alloys are 18 years old and still do not have peeling issues like this!!

My steering wheel's rubber is peeling off now (the area under the telephone buttons). Is there something i can do to fix it? I am just thinking about color matching that with some gray duck tape as a temporary solution.

I got our car back from the dealer for catalytic C. Replacement and the pressure tire light was on. Check tire pressure in the morning and went up to 40psi to see if they reset. No luck.
Lower back to normal after three weeks all tires including spare are at 33psi. Also, the clear coat on my wheels is peeling off.2006 2.0T 85K Miles.

My 2012 Sonata is flaking in the grey area on the steering wheel around the cruise and volume controls. Is there a remedy? Would it be covered under warranty? It's nothing major, but annoying none the less.

As the title says, the leather on my 2010 S steering wheel is flaking and peeling. There was a bad spot in the leather of the original wheel at the 12 o'clock position when I took delivery. The dealership replaced it and now the new wheel is doing the exact same thing in a different spot. It is from the 7 to 9 o'clock position. Nothing rubs in this area, I do not put my hand in this area, I don't wear anything sharp on my hands like rings and there is no way my skin is rough enough to shred leather so I am assuming it is some sort of defect in the material.

My MY2012 Passat 2.5 SE currently at 37k miles all of a sudden is showing clear coat peeling near the trunk/rear panel area. Car is a CPO and clean carfax (no accidents) and currently still under warranty. Planning on taking it back to the dealership and hopefully start a case for warranty work under VWoA.
I've never encountered clearcoat failure this early on, case in point my B5 (MY1999) still has excellent clear coat uniformity despite the paint/body being 17+ years old.

I have some rectangular weights bonded to my rims just behind the spokes. Are these to balance the rim before a tire is installed or is this how the tire and rim are balanced on the alloy wheels? Maybe to keep from putting the normal wheel weights on the outside of the rim?

I am planning to lower my car a little to eliminate the wheel gap. I've been doing research and I heard lowering springs is better than coilover, and more affordable too. What's the best way to lower my car?

Think this is a Gen5 thing, but both of my 2004 Camry (XLE V6 and SE I4 specifically) has this issue. My XLE V6 is more obvious versus the SE I4, but seems to be following the same path. Guess even with car tint, our hot weather has worn this headliner edge. I have not suffered from the crumbling rear speaker cover though.
Thinking of getting some 3M adhesive spray and try see if I can apply it manually (maybe to a cotton pad or sponge then to headliner) to put some on the edges to keep it from getting worst.

Will the center caps pop out with the wheel mounted? Or do you have to push them out from the backside of wheel? It's the 17" SE wheel.

The lights on the steering wheel controls are too dim? I find it hard to see them at night.
Any mod that brightens them up a bit (and creates a cooler look at the same time)???

Tonight I went out to get something out of my car, I had not driven the car in about 5 hrs. As I opened the back driver side door, I noticed a noise coming from the wheel well area. It was a quiet noise almost like a very quiet motor running, but it was very prevalent. I went to the passenger side back wheel and could hear it there also. I've never heard anything like this. Opened the trunk and listened for the noise but could not hear it there. After a few mins, I started the car and let it run, then shut it off and the noise disappeared. Only thing I could think of was a fuel pump malfunction?? I honestly don't know.

So I've had the 2016 Camry SE for a couple months now, however I was wondering to clean the interior of the car, specifically the steering wheel. I do drive a lot long distance and city driving as well and sweating on a hot day is practically inevitable even if its just a bit. But how to clean the leather/steering wheel of the interior.

Rust proofing the rear wheel well: I was trying to rust proof/coat the rear wheel well and surrounding area to make sure i get the bolts under it. Back of the car is where most of the salt sits as the undercurrents with wind tend to drive the salt deep in the quarter panels and around tank area. I wanted to confirm if these cars still have the wheel well bolt securing the bumper to the quarter panel with a rust prone steel bolt.
When weather gets better i'll take to get sprayed somewhere. But for now i wanted to leave something on it of a coat after a good cleaning. Hate dam salt or whatever they are using these days.
I also noticed that the SE's wheel well internal sheathing was much stronger looking, solid than what's on my LE - a felt type material. Besides the wheel well rim on SE has a band of silicone type substance overlaid on it. Right?
