My 14' SE i4 locks when the trunk is left open for about a minute. To make things a little more confusing is that the car does not auto lock if the trunk is closed, I know this because when I get to work I never lock my doors. The first time the car locked with the trunk open I thought I must have accidentally hit the lock button on the key, but I have tested this with the key left in the house.
View 14 RepliesYesterday in the middle of a hot summer day in NY while running errands I drove my car to the post office. I was in there about 15 -20 minutes. After coming out and driving home about 5 minutes I get out of the car click the lock button on my key fob and nothing happened. The doors were locking so I tried the trunk to see if it was open and it was. I then tried to close the trunk and it wouldn't lock closed. The lock wouldn't engage.
I have 79K+ miles so when I get my 80K tune up I guess I'll have them fix that along with the recalls and everything else. But in the meantime I'm riding around with an unsecured trunk. Luckily the trunk is heavy enough so that it doesn't fly open while I'm driving.
I have been noticing this problem more frequently. It's been about 2 months that I noticed the car is doing this.
I would typically touch the door handle to lock the car, (hear the beep) and sometimes I use the remote at a distance to make sure I did not forget to lock it. But after I return to the car, I usually go to the trunk, to put away my briefcase, (without pressing any button). After closing the trunk, and going to the driver side passenger door(its unlocked) (no beeping sound or anything)
I have made sure several times (clicking the button several times) that I indeed locked the car. but it's unlocked. I have tested the auto lock feature on my car (locking, then unlocking without opening doors, yes it automatically locks the doors after 60 seconds).
First problem after 3 years of use. 2012 sedan, the lock on the trunk refuses to open. Tried the key lock on the trunk lid, the remote release by the seat, and after crawling thru the back seat, the emergency release button on the lock itself. All no joy.

View 1 RepliesI just bought a used 2003 camry, it has I assume a stock alarm system (stock Toyota alarm fob), the alarm is set to auto lock after about 20 seconds after the door is shut (previous owner lived in NYC). How do I turn off the auto lock? I want the system to lock when I press the lock button on the fob (live in a very rural area and often leave the keys in the car).
View 1 RepliesI bought an '02 LE, 4 cyl w/123k miles and found electric issues. Are they somehow related and indicate a bigger issue? No lights by shifter (PRINDL). Auto shut-off for overhead light works intermittently. Driver door lock button works intermittently – at times when you pull to lock door it’s ok. At times it slides back and forth doing nothing, and can’t be locked manually w/ key or w/ remote. Driver and passenger windows kind of jump at start of open and end of close.

View 9 RepliesI have a 2013 XLE V6 and the trunk no longer sits evenly. Where the lights meet at the back of the car the trunk lights stick out about 1/2 inch further than the quarter panel lights and the gap on the right side is much bigger than the left.
I swear I have not had any accidents or issues hauling anything that would have torqued this out of whack.
Have this problem? 500 miles out of warranty and my trunk release lever is broken. The button on the remote still works, but the lever on the floor has no tension on it. It feels like the cable either broke or is no longer attached to the lever.

I have a 10' kayak that I slide into the trunk for a 1/2 mile drive down my private road to the dock and I'm sick of listening to that warning beep--hoping I can put tape over the switch or something to shut it up.
I just bought a 2012 toyota camry se with smart key. The trunk button on the remote opens the trunk, but the smart key button on the trunk lid does not open the trunk. I found a brown module unplugged the the left of the seat release handles in the trunk, I checked the wiring to the switch on the trunk lid.
View 7 RepliesI was moving something this weekend and could not close the trunk all the way. The trunk / door open alarm was beeping the whole time. I was only driving 10 minutes or I swear I would have ripped the stupid thing out of the car somehow !!!!!!
Can this beep / alarm be disabled or set to turn off after 30 seconds like the seatbelt chime?
When i go over bumps at slow speed (such as speed bumps) i hear a rattle in the trunk like something is loose. Its a deep sound like ceramic plate or a brake rotor kinda flopping around back there (not plastic creaks). Sounds almost exactly like a loose spare tire or something. So i checked it, and it was tight. Sound still there. so then i jsut removed everything, jack/tools and spare tires. Sound still there. So then i ran with both the seats down, and up in the locked positions. Def more noticable with the seats down.
It doent seem to make the noise on small sharp bumps when im on the freeway. Usually only rolling slowly (less then 15mph) over large bumps and when the suspension comes back down in rattles. I plan on bringing the car in when my work weeks over, but im wondering if theres anything else i can check in teh trunk area that might be rattleing around.
How to activate the power trunk release on a 2012 Camry L series? My car came with dealer remotes that don't have a button for the rear trunk lock which I saw is in the vehicle when I added the trunk spoiler. It would be nice not to have to open the DS door and pull the trunk release lever to open the trunk all the time....
View 5 Repliesowner of a 2003' Phaeton V10. I have two issues with the car, the first one is : even if the trunk is closed, it appears to be open on the dashboard. I saw one or 2 cut wires ... The other issue is that i don't understand what does the symbol close to the tyres' one mean.
View 12 RepliesAfter checking out most of the many threads about battery maintenance etc. I couldn't find anyone mentioning how to keep the trunk closed and still hook up battery maintainer....would also be interested in specific model of small safe maintainer. Maybe removing the Ski bag and running out through one of the back windows ????? I don't drive the V8 Nar but about once a week for short trips in winter especially.
View 4 RepliesI left the house early this morning and it was real foggy and I noticed my lights were not on. Have noticed this when it was real cloudy and raining.
They are set on Auto and I set the setting to the far right + setting.
My question is this the right way to get them to come on quicker in the fog and rain?
2014 Camry XLE. When you press the close button, sometimes the sunroof will make it about halfway and then go back open. However, if you press the close button quickly several times and sort of shimmy the sunroof closed, it will close. Nothing is obstructing it.
View 3 RepliesMost of the sedans I've owned in the last 25 years had a way to prevent the trunk from being unlocked from the inside without the non-Valet key. Sometimes it would be by turning the trunk lock in a particular way, or there might be a way to disconnect the passenger compartment lever with the non Valet key.
On this base model Camry however, it seems the trunk will always unlock with the hand lever, and the valet key is only for keeping the glove box locked. Is this right?
I drive a 2012 Camry SE. Since last few days the head lights in my car remain on even during day time when kept on auto mode. I need to manually turn off the lights in day.
