The owner's manual for my 2012 Toyota Camry does not give a very good description about what the MODE/HOLD button on the steering wheel is for. At first, from what I had read in the manual, I thought it was like a mute button for the radio, cd, etc. when I wanted to use my hands free cell phone. When I first tried to do this, it took me a while to realize it but I was actually muting my cell phone.
View 3 RepliesI have driven 53K miles in the Bay-area, CA on my car. On a recent trip to UT and AZ, my steering wheel started wobbling when I braked downhill. And I started hearing the occasional screeching noise when I braked, when I listen closely. I took to the local auto-care chain back in bay area and they said, I needed my front rotor and brake pads replaced. I however had no such wobbling on plains. Hence I wasn't sure if I was being over sold on parts. I got the car back without replacing the pads or rotors. I took a picture of the brake inspection readings. Wanted to get an advice if I need to replace my rotors or not. I understand the brake pads need replacement from the screeching noise. But how about the front-rotors?
View 19 RepliesI just bought a 2013 Totyota Camry LE. Everything is great so far besides the bluetooth. I do not have problem connecting but when I connect my phone via bluetooth while streaming radio like pandora or iheartradio or even local files, I cannot skip tracks using the controls on the steering wheel. Also there is no next/previous track button on the touch panel. Am I doing something wrong or was it how this system was designed.

I noticed that when pressing the mode button on the steering wheel, the radio toggles from AM, FM1, FM2, and Bluetooth, but completely skips satellite radio. The satellite radio is active and I set presets for all the stations. I can access the satellite radio stations fine when pressing the button on the dash or on the touch screen but the mode button on the steering wheel completely skips the satellite selection.
View 2 RepliesI bought a 2012 Toyota Prius 2 on Jan 28, 2013 (just a little over a month ago). The front tires and steering wheel vibrated at highway speeds (here in NY 65-70mph) and so I took it in, they said it needed wheel balancing and rotation. Fine.
Then I was told to wait it out because of the "snow" and "ice" could be the culprit, fine. Then a week or so later, same problem still, even when it got warmer. Took it back in. This time the wheels were "off balance" again. Hmmm, that's funny. So they did a dynamic or forced balance? I don't know exactly, but it was a step up from "normal" balancing (according to them).
The past couple weeks it hasn't been vibrating nearly as much, but it is coming back again intermittently. Today I was driving home from Watertown, NY to Syracuse. It's about an hour or so drive, and it is a state highway, so it isn't too torn up or potholed. Between 66-70mph the steering wheel vibrates quite bad and RANDOMLY at that. Some roads the car at 70mph feels super smooth others not! And the weirdest part is some of the roads it feels smooth on are bumpy or slightly torn up!
I've looked up all the causes of steering wheel and tire vibrations, and I see that there are about 5-10 potential causes. If I have to take this car in one more time I might just scream.
I had a problem with my steering wheel shaking at various speeds. Eventually I found a bad inner tie rod and replaced it. The shaking is gone, but whenever I get over 70 mph there is still a very small vibration. I had all 4 wheels aligned after changing the tie rod. Tires are brand new, less than a week old. The mechanic checked my ball joints while doing the alignment and said they were good. Could my struts be causing the vibration? They need replaced, not sure if the previous owner ever replaced them and the car has 225,000 miles.

I have a friend his daughters car just started making the same sound. My car has been doing this for months. We both have the same make and year car.

So I've had the 2016 Camry SE for a couple months now, however I was wondering to clean the interior of the car, specifically the steering wheel. I do drive a lot long distance and city driving as well and sweating on a hot day is practically inevitable even if its just a bit. But how to clean the leather/steering wheel of the interior.
View 11 RepliesI just bought a 2015 Camry LE 2 weeks ago and noticed a slight annoying steering wheel vibration when you hit 40 kph and above. You can also feel it on the floor and when you hold the door. Brought it to the dealership and they balanced the wheel. It seemed to have made a difference and you can now feel the vibrations from 80 kph and above. Did a road test with the mechanic and the service manager but they couldn't feel anything and told me it was normal road vibrations. Was advised to go to another dealership for a 2nd opinion. 2nd dealership found a slight excessive loaded runout on the LF tire and road force balanced it.
After 2 days i can again feel a vibration, but this time now at 115 kph and above.I thought I was just being paranoid so I drove a Maxima for 2 days and never felt a vibration.
I purchased a new 2012 Toyota Avalon and had the dealer install a trunk spoiler before I picked it up. Unless the trunk is completely opened and seated, the lid falls down--most times while your head or hands are in the way. I went back to the dealership and they told me that the lifting mechanism was working correctly and that they had never heard of this happening before. They also said Toyota does not make a heavier duty lifting mechanism.
Their advise was basically get used to it because, after all, it is my fault because I requested the spoiler in the first place or to see a member of their sales staff and try to work out a deal on a new 2013 car. I cannot believe that I am the only Avalon owner who has a spoiler on their car. I have talked to the owners of other makes of cars who have spoilers on their cars and not one of them has this problem. Most will hold its position when lid is even less than 1/2 opened.
2002 Solara, 69K miles, occasional squeak from steering wheel when turning, sounds as if it is coming from where the wheel connects/rotates at the column - sounds like a weak rubber horn (like clowns use) or a rubbery, balloons-rubbing-together sort of sound. Not loud - only noticed when I was w/out the radio on (had an exhaust repair last week and was enjoying the quiet). It's not an external steering pump whine - it really seems as if it is coming right the steering column. Short of leaving cheese to there to coax out a mouse . . .
View 6 RepliesMy car used to vibrate at a speeds above 50mph and I took it to NTB for wheel balancing. They did the balancing and when I first drove, the steering wheel was wobbling very badly and the wheel is stiffer than previously, Also the car is drifting to the right which did not happen previously. They said they didn't do anything other than balancing and reducing the tire pressure. They also gave me a quote for 2300 $ for the services to be done (many services shown there were done a month back..!!!). Then I took it to another NTB for alignment and they did the alignment first time and problem not solved. I took it the second time, they said toe was little off and they fixed it.! The problem is still not fixed and then I took it the third time and this time I got the car the TPMS was on.!!!!
View 4 RepliesThe 98 camry has steering wheel shudder after the new tires have been put on. Do I need alignment. will that work now that my tires are scalloped? The guys at the tire shop balanced the tires. the shudder was there on the old tires too, which were severely scalloped. or pitted. Can i do alignment myself?
View 8 RepliesSlightly into my drive, my car begins to vibrate in what feels like the front end as well as in the steering wheel. At first it started when I was at high speeds on the highway but now it happens as lower speeds (like 40 mph). It does not happen at a specific speed only (so I don't believe it is a balance issue). Also, it doesn't happen all the time...sometimes it only lasts 5 minutes and sometimes it lasts longer. My tires are fairly new and recently checked for uneven wear, I've had an alignment and balance done so now I'm confused about the difference between issues with the following parts: struts, tire rods, rotors, or CV joints.
View 2 RepliesI own a 2012 Toyota Camry SE and I am trying to figure out why I can't skip songs using the controls on my steering wheel when my phone(Samsung Galaxy Note 4) is connected to the car via Bluetooth. The car connects to my phone via Bluetooth without a hitch, but every time I play music from my phone and I try and skip a song by pressing the right arrow on the steering wheel, it doesn't respond. The odd thing is, every once in a while when I do try skipping songs, it works! The problem is, I have to press the arrow key multiple times and almost a once in a blue moon type of deal.
View 6 RepliesBrand new 2015 Camry SE and I think the steering wheel is slightly off centre... basically driving straight on most roads you need to hold the wheel a bit to the right... and if you hold the wheel completely straight the car will slowly veer to the left.
I checked tire pressure (fine) and I don't think its road crown (most roads are angled a bit right but this car veers left when wheel is held straight). Mostly noticed it once I started doing some highway driving.
I don't think the alignment is bad really but it seems like it might have been done at the factory without the wheel being fully straight.
I bought a 2010 toyota camry se. I have the most annoying vibration in the steering wheel, seats, gas pedal. Have taken it to several places, including a Toyota dealer.. They seem to not be able to find the cause. I've had wheels checked, balance, aligned, rotated. There is also an annoying clonking noise coming from the front passenger assembly. It's very sporadic as in only goes away when trying to have a technician hear it.

So far everything is great about it, only negative part is that i feel when i turn the steering wheel like a knocking sensation and you can also hear it. Its not the normal grinding sound other people are experiencing. It feels like theres something loose in the steering column. Also while I am driving i can hear like a thump on the right front suspension. normally this sound when i am going over bumbs. Is this like the shocks or something?

I notice that yesterday when it was raining and i wanted to start air conditioner and the ON/OFF and temperature UP/DOWN buttons don't work when i drive straight but when I turn just a bit it does ....

So I have a 2012 camry SE I4. When i backup and about to start going the steering wheel get stuck, the steering wheel light came on the dash, and the radio shut down and restart by itself. It happened really quick about 5-8s and then everything back to normal, the steering wheel light is gone as well. I doubt the electric has problem, but i am unsure.
