My wifes 2012 camry se just started having the maintenance light start blinking. it blinks 8 times when started then stays off. I check the manual but couldn't find any answers to what it means. Whats going on?

I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything about it. I read on line it means I need an oil change. Is this correct? I'm just about to hit 47k miles. View 2 RepliesMaintenance Required Light just started blinking at start up... Blinks 8 times then stops. Looked up in manual. Will start blinking at start up at 4500 miles and then stay on after 5000 miles. Guess it's time to schedule the 1st trip to the service department.
Not much on the 5K check
- Fluid Levels
- check brakes
- Rotate tires
- etc
My maintenance light started flashing @ the 4500 mile mark so I checked the oil and was half a qt low. I was a bit surprised. I was not at any type of incline and I drive pretty light. Def don't drive hard. Normal or no?
View 14 RepliesI have an 09 Camry LE with about 59k miles on it and I just noticed today that When I turn my car on the maintenance required light blinks. But as soon as I put the car in drive it goes away, and does not return when I put it in park again.
I know all of your dash lights should come on at start up to show you that they work. But they all go off and that one remains flashing. I never looked at it before to know whether or not it's always been that way. Also when I first turn on my car, it idles at about 1.5k-2k rpm's. But if I keep my foot on the break and put it in drive then park again it sits at 1k or below. Is this normal? If not what should I be checking out?
After starting my 09 Camry, the Maintenance light flashes a good 15 times before it turns off. I just started noticing this. I understand all the lights on the dash will flash upon starting the car, a few times, but this is longer than it has done it in the past.

It just went to the dealer at 4,200 mi for an "early" oil change (I had wanted an early oil change done, and the the dealer said it wasn't required til 10,000 miles). So no new oil.
It's about 7 months old, and mostly driven on short trips - our other car is used for the long trips. Tires were rotated @ last service.
Does it actually want an oil change? I'd take it to the dealer, but their next appointment is 2 weeks out.
Ok, my final question about my 2010 Camry I bought. It is certified preowned which means everything has been inspected and maintained. So I was surprised to see my maint. req light blinking. They didn't change the oil?
However, I noticed it is only coming on and blinking when I have the key turned to power on, but not when the engine is cranked. Is this just a normal light display? I'm definitely calling the dealer if the oil needs changed already.
2011 Camry LE .... My car has some 85,000 miles and generally runs very good. Recently the maintenance light flashes. The flashing does not occur when the car is started but some times 30 sec later.
If it were the standard "change your oil" reminder, it would come on and stay on--I'm very familiar with that.
This situation it comes on after the car is running (even driving) and flashes for 5-10 times and disappears.
Bought my Camry with 25k miles on it, and had the dealer change the oil and reset the light first thing. Now I'm at 30k miles and the light has come on. I am following the 10k mile OCI.
So is this Maintenance required light going to come on every 5k miles to remind me of tire rotations and whatnot in between my 10k mile oil change intervals?
Should just turn it off now and wait until 35k miles (when it comes on again im suspecting) to get the oil changed?
Set up the free oil change for next week (10,600 on the odometer) and was wondering if this is an automatic light just based on mileage. Prior owner got a free 5,000 mile oil change and selling dealer changed the oil at 5,800 when we bought it.
But I guess if there's a reset somewhere that neither prior dealer took the time to do the car thinks it's time for it's first change. This is a 2014.5 SE Sport put in service July of 2014.
My blinkers started off blinking a few times then stopped working, now they don't work at all. The fuse says it goes to the brake lamps, hazards and turn signals. The hazards work as well as the brake lamps. I found the relay/flasher box and it appears the relay and flasher is the same for both the turn signals and the hazards. I checked for the wire/connector problem in the column and all looks good there. When I activate the turn signal lever I feel one click in the relay/flasher which leads me to believe the turn signal switch is working. I went ahead and replaced the relay with no results. Is the flasher internals the same for both the hazards and the turn signals or is there two independent sections inside for each?
View 4 RepliesI'm still trying to get a manual for my recently acquired 2004 Prius, so I can't trace down what this means....
When I start the car, recently, a "Maint Required" light comes on and flashes about three or four times, then goes away. This is after all the other dash lights during the test phase go out. When I took it to have the codes read, the device said "No Codes" stored.
What does this mean? And is it a serious problem?
So just trying to find out if this is normal. This is my wife's car so I don't drive it every day. I started it up to pull out of the garage and noticed the maint Req'd light blinking, it blinked about five times and turned off. Does it mean anything? if so, what? Just rolled over 100K. We bought it in late january and all the PM was done just wondering if they reset the oil reminder or what.

I went through all of my Maintenance menu items and most of them arent set to begin with, but the ones that ARE set, still have 4000+ miles til the next service...
Was trying to change my reverse light on my 12 camry. I wanted to make sure the bulbs were working before I put everything back together. I put on the emergency brake put the car in the on position and put the car in reverse. Went to check the bulbs and nothing. Put the old bulbs in, nothing. Started the ignition and noticed that the the check engine light was on and also the P, R, N or D was not showing in the display. Let the car sit for a while and still the the same thing. What happened. All other lights work fine.
View 1 RepliesObviously I'll have the oil changed, but Toyota recommends all this other stuff at 30k and my local dealer wants about 250$ for it. It looks like the same stuff they do with my regular oil changes but now want 250$ to do it. Seems like somewhat of a rip off.
View 14 RepliesI have the keyless wireless option and one of my key fobs stopped working so I put a new battery in. So now instead of blinking once in the upper right-hand corner when I push the button and working properly instead the little red button in the corner links three times and nothing else happens . I even switched batteries from the one that still works to the one that does not work in case I got a bad new battery but no changes on either key.
View 2 RepliesToday riding to work... the little TPMS light (looks like a tire with and ! in the middle) came on - Started blinking for a minute then went solid. so I pulled off the highway and checked my tire pressure.. all tires were 31 or above.. (S/B 33)
Topped off all tires w/ air and went back on the road - light didn't go out... then on the way home, it went off... and it wasn't the cold.. It was a 'balmy' 20 this morning...
Owner's manual says it was the TPMS system malfunctioning OR interference from outside... 2012 Sonata GLS ....
So coming home from work the engine started misfiring and the Service engine light started blinking five times in staying on for five seconds and then blinking another five times in series. The car started writing very rough and stalled out every time I came to a stop which was not normal function for vehicle. Made it to the Toyota dealership. After paing the Service fee they told me it was possibly spark plugs, ignition coil pack, and an O2 sensor not functioning. I just changed the spark plugs and ignition packs three months ago. So I took the car home put new spark plugs in and a new ignition pack I ordered from Amazon and put it in cylinder for (which they told me at the Toyota dealership) and installed a new O2 sensor myself. Disconnected the battery to clear any trouble codes and restarted the engine. The problem still exists. The trouble code they gave me at the dealership was.p0304, p0138, p0110. The car is still miss firing and Service light keeps blinking.
View 1 RepliesSometimes when I go to start the car, I have to turn the ignition anywhere from 1 to 6 times to get the car to start. It doesn't matter if the engine is cold or hot. I hear the engine trying to start, after like 5 sec, I stop so I don't burn the starter up. The battery is fine, there are no fault codes. Recently it seems like its taking more times turning the ignition to get the car started. Sometimes, its the first time, other time its not.
Its an 2003, I4 with 76k on it.
