It happen already at least 4 times or more I park my car in garage I went to grab something out of gargeand I hear humming noise coming from the car some place feels like its coming from the rear but I cant pin point it. When I turn the key on it stops I made a video but you cant hear it to good I will post video later. What that can be ????

A couple of hours later went into the garage to drop a trash bag and heard a humming/whirling sound from the garage. Walked around the Prius and isolated it coming from the bottom rear of the car. Went and got key, turned the car on, then off again and the noise ceased. What that was? Fuel pump maybe? And why did this occur?

After it had been sitting in the garage for around 6 hours, I hear a motor or fan type noise coming from the trunk area. It lasted for several minutes and then stopped. First thought was a distant neighbor using a leaf blower, then realized it was coming from the rear of car. definitely coming from gas tank area. Turned key on, then off and noise was gone.
View 6 RepliesWe parked the V in the garage at 5 pm, and at 11pm went out into the garage for something, and heard a buzzing, but had a hard time trying to locate the noise. it seemed to be coming from the V. so i opened the drivers door , and after a couple seconds it stopped. then i closed the door and it started again. i opened it a second time it stopped again, after i closed it, it didn't start buzzing again ??? does this happen to other peoples prius's
View 6 RepliesRC 350 parked in garage, 40 deg, F, for 4 hours. Happened to walk by and heard noise. Sounded like a quiet, harsh electrical hum are air escaping. Not positive but it seemed like the source was at the rear of the car and not the garage door. Noise stopped before I could trace it further. This was a second occurrence. So far no dead battery or flat tires!

View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 Toyota Camry 4 Cylinder LE. When the car has been parked for a period of time 2hours plus, I hear a noise coming from the engine right in front of the Driver Seat. The noise only happens on the first acceleration after its been parked. It only happens once.
It sounds like something moves or shifts into place.
We have a 2010 RX350. It makes a noise at a strange time. While in the garage with the engine off sometimes it makes a humming noise. The noise can last up to five minutes. It sounds like it could be coming from the back but not positive. The car has not been operated for several hours when the noise occurs. If I start the engine and immediately cut it off the noise goes away. I know that it will never do this if I take it to the Lexus dealership.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 Toyota Camry SE I4 with about 34,500 miles. I have noticed that over the past 2 weeks, the car make a kind of slight humming noise only for a second. It only happens first thing in the morning after the first start of the day. Its not right away, it happens after I pull out of the driveway, and as I drive away it happens at about 10 mph. The noise will not happen till the following day after a cold start. I have tried to pinpoint the sound and it doesn't matter how long I let the car warm up and it doesn't matter if the heater is running or not. It will still make the noise. The car runs good other than this noise.

View 6 RepliesThis noise sound as if an electric motor going off for a second only. It almost sounds as a CD changer changing cds but for a second only.
What is weird is that it only sounds when the car has been off, turn it on and I start accelerating to about 8-10mph. If I come to a complete stop at a stop light and accelerate again it will not sound. If i come to complete stop and put the car in park or N, it will not sound. You will only hear it on the first take off when the car has been off.
I would also like to point that I have manually shifted and this does not change a thing. The noise still comes on around 8-10mph even if I keep it in 1st gear.
Furthermore, I would also like to point out that the noise is is not loud. Chances are I will not hear if I have radio on at low levels or the A/C fan in mid to high.
Again, the sounds seems to come from the outside the cab and it sounds like an electric motor going off for about one second only.
The car is a 2012 l4 with about 60k miles on the odo.
I have a 4 cylinder 2012 Toyota Camry SE. It is 3 months old and has 2,300 miles.
My husband and I notice a high pitch humming noise that happens mainly on the freeway, when you get over 45 mph. We tried ruling out different things like, bluetooth, radio, air conditioner, wind noise etc. We realized that the noise happens with you push on the accelerator pedal. If you hold the pedal to maintain speed, it does not happen. Only when you push the accelerator pedal. The noise was more noticeable when I drove it up in the mountains and had to push on the accelerator pedal off and on to maneuver turns and up hills.
I figure that we can bring it up to our dealer in October at our 5,000 mile service.
I love the car, but had a few small gripes, including ride firmness and road noise. Well, the ride firmness has definitely calmed down a great deal over the first 3500 miles to now I find it has a perfect balance of handling vs. comfort. It's firm, but the bumps are not as jarring as those first 500 miles or so. I'm very happy with it.
The 2nd issue I hd/have, is road noise... or rather... I think... suspension noise. It's a faint droning/humming sound that I think comes mostly from the rear. You can start hearing it at 20-30mph on all but the smoothest of roads. The noise seems to be *in addition* to the very, very minimal tire noise I hear from the very nice stock Michelins. The harsher the road, the louder the noise of course.
My guess (and it's only a guess?) is that the metal bushing ('pillow ball') in the rear along with the other firmer suspension parts are the primary cause of this noise.
So I have tried a couple of things to try and counteract this noise:
1) Put D'amplifier Pro in the trunk - Got down the bare metal and put the stuff all of the place back there... Above the wheel wells also.
This did not stop the noise I hear.
2) I then put some sound deadening foam mats above both rear wheel wells.
This did not work.
The strange thing is that this noise is pretty faint, but unmistakable... however if I move my head forward (say, right in line with the steering wheel) 2 feet.... I barely hear it. But when I move back to the normal driving position, there it is.
I have a 2007 Camry, had it since 06 and just recently I am starting to hear a humming noise when I turn my steering wheel to the left or right.

I had it parked there for about 2 hours after coming from a three hour trip, but not once did I used the ac. The day before the car was outside in the rain. Is this normal for the Camry?

View 14 RepliesI parked the little dear in the garage about 9:30 last night. I went into the garage this morning around 6:30 and I noticed how still and quiet it seemed. I then opened the garage door and went outside for a few minutes. When I came back in, I hear a low whirring sound. I went back outside to listen, but it was definitely coming from the Prius, perhaps near the back, underneath.
The hatch was open; I closed it, but the sound didn't change. The fob was in the house, and I didn't open the driver door, so it wasn't the brake pump. It lasted at least 2-3 minutes, at which time I was too bored to continue listening, and I went back to weeding and watering.
Several months ago one of my 20" toyo tires was flat when I came out of work. Being a high school teacher, I thought that perhaps it was a students involved situation. That came as a surprise in that as a teacher of over 37 years, nothing has ever happened to any of my vehicles, while parked at school. Also I found it strange that they would let air out and put the chrome valve cap back on. Well, over the weekend, the same thing happened, with the car parked in my garage. So in both instances the tires went flat, I filled them back up and they held air. This happened months apart.
