I was moving something this weekend and could not close the trunk all the way. The trunk / door open alarm was beeping the whole time. I was only driving 10 minutes or I swear I would have ripped the stupid thing out of the car somehow !!!!!!
Can this beep / alarm be disabled or set to turn off after 30 seconds like the seatbelt chime?
I just bought a 2012 toyota camry se with smart key. The trunk button on the remote opens the trunk, but the smart key button on the trunk lid does not open the trunk. I found a brown module unplugged the the left of the seat release handles in the trunk, I checked the wiring to the switch on the trunk lid.
View 7 RepliesI am a new member here with 2011 Avalon Limited just bought last weekend. I was exploring all the features and options. Few questions are coming out from my exploration. What I have noticed that there is no Trunk Open indicator light on the dash nor any message on the NAV display. I left the trunk open and drove couple minutes, no light, no beep, no alarm... The instrument cluster has only door open indicator light that tells us one of the doors is open but which one, no indication... I believe, 2005-2010 Avalon has this indicator message with specific door shows on the center display screen. I tried to find this out on the manual real quick but couldn't find any. Am I missing anything somewhere? Or is there any trick to turn on any indicator light or alarm beep or message somewhere for trunk open? Or 2011 Avalon doesn't have this feature at all?
Next is, all the buttons are non-illuminated, such as Trunk Release, Gas cap release, Rear sunshade, Moonroof switch, Book light button, Dome light button, even the memory seat buttons are not illuminated. Are all the previous Avalon models have these buttons non-illuminated?
On the other hand, My 2013 Accord EXL and 2008 Odyssey have all these buttons illuminated and instrument cluster indicates which door is open including trunk. These two issues are the disappointment so far, Avalon is a higher class vehicle than Accord and expensive too, at least I expected these features as standard on Avalon. Other than these its a great driving car.
Packed my car with luggage in the trunk got to my destination and I can't get the trunk open. From the trunk itself to the release on the door to the button on the remote nothing will open it. I am screwed because I really need to open this trunk and no VW dealers are open.

1) The trunk will unlock when I use the key or the interior switch.
2) The trunk will not "pop" open intermittently.
However they deal primarily with stuck trunk doors; mine is not stuck. It just won't pop open all the time.
First problem after 3 years of use. 2012 sedan, the lock on the trunk refuses to open. Tried the key lock on the trunk lid, the remote release by the seat, and after crawling thru the back seat, the emergency release button on the lock itself. All no joy.
View 3 RepliesAfter driving my 2012 Elantra for about two years, I have many times had the trunk just open, seemingly on its own. I always figured that it was simply my fault: you know, I bent the wrong way and the fob in my pocket got the trunk button pushed, etc...
But I always felt that there was more to it than that, as I doubt my pants push the button that much. Now a friend that I work with expressed the same trunk doubts to me about his one year old 2013 Elantra. He said that yesterday his trunk was open and he had not even touched his keys. Incidentally, I had a trunk opening experience yesterday too!
So what gives with the spontaneous trunk opening? Is there an identifiable cause? A known software defect? Something else?
So I had my hood open to check my oil, not a big deal for a 2001 Jetta 1.8t. When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
View 5 RepliesI have 2005 Camry. The trunk will not open with any key, remote key fob, release next to seat or even crawling through back seat and using emergency release. There is nothing in the trunk. A liner prevents me from seeing the actual latch.

The other night I reached down to pull the trunk release and it didn't open! The button on the key will still open it (and so will using the key itself) however so I've narrowed it down to the little cable that runs from the release all the way to the trunk. What I should try? Is this covered by any warranty at all? I know I have the optional top tier warranty but I'm completely blanking on its name.
I recently acquire a 03 LE camry and I program the keyless remote and I thought that the car had a alarm but when I lock the car with the remote and open the door nothing happened. I want to know how can i be sure that the car dose not have the alarm unplugged or those not have at all and if it doesn't can I put the VIP RS3200 security system.

View 1 RepliesI have two Remote car keys for Toyota Camry 2012 vehicle. I lost one of them. I am worried if someone has that key and they can steal my car without breaking. FYI, I used to park in the Railway station where the parking is not secured.
I am thinking of two ways. One is to disable the lost remote key, so that no one can use it. Second way is to deactivate the remote sensors in the car so that no can lock or unlock the car with the remote. Just lock and unlock it manually.
The back up lights don't work until I open the trunk about 6 inches, then they both work.

View 3 RepliesNew 2015 Mercedes E350 wagon ..... The day after I took delivery, I tried to open the new wagon's doors (it has a keyless feature) and nothing happened. I tried again and still nothing happened. I then took the smartkey out of my pocket and tried to click open the locks and nothing happened. I then took the ancillary key out of the smartkey and unlocked the car manually. This set off the alarm which would only stop when I closed the door and relocked the car.
Also, the car would not start. It was like I had broken in to the car. A few minutes later, while waiting for roadside assistance to speak with me, I tried the door handle again and discovered that the doors would now open keylessly. I have driven the car several times since the incident (which occurred yesterday) and it has not repeated the problem. What caused the problem?Is this a one time glitch or am I in danger of being stranded somewhere?

View 3 RepliesMy dad has a very low mileage '12 Camry XLE with the 4-cylinder motor. Recently, the alarm will just go off randomly. After re-arming it, it may go off again in a few minutes, and may do this many times in a row. Or, weeks may pass where it doesn't happen at all. It is a really annoying issue. The battery is fully charged, and both FOBs had their batteries replaced.
I know if it is brought to the dealer, and the problem cannot be replicated while there, they will tell us that they cannot diagnose it. I have read that it may be the hood latch and sensor.
How to disable those really useful messages like "phone connection successful" when using the backup camera?
Being sarcastic but I think those messages are actually a safety hazard when using the back up camera since they just pop a take up a lot of screen real estate that I would rather see used to see if I'm about to hit some car or pedestrian.
How do I go about removing the pins in the trunk lid and trunk liner/carpeting?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2013 XLE V6 and the trunk no longer sits evenly. Where the lights meet at the back of the car the trunk lights stick out about 1/2 inch further than the quarter panel lights and the gap on the right side is much bigger than the left.
I swear I have not had any accidents or issues hauling anything that would have torqued this out of whack.
