In the past month, I had to use my "cruise control" a few times, and I had the bad experience that sometimes it works as it is intended to do, but other times I am unable set it after I turn on the cruise control; thus, it works on and off.
View 14 RepliesI have a question regarding my Camry. Is there any way the cruise control sesitivity can be adusted? When we are traveling at ~70 mph on interstate highways with rolling hills (e.g. MA Pike), the transmission downshifts nearly every time going up hill - sometimes dropping to 4th gear. To me, the cruise control is "too determined" to let the car speed decrease even 1 mph. I'm finding that quite annoying. I'd be happy to let the speed decline 2 - 3 mph to avoid the annoying downshifiting / upshifting on upgrades. I know that a 6 cyl wouldn't have this problem.

Suppose I am driving at the speed of 80mph with 1300rpm, few seconds after I come downhill the rpm shifts to 2000 and comes back to 1300. Now I understand that the rpm will increase as I go up in order to maintain the speed but this problem occurs once I come downhill
And today also while driving without cruise control on I experienced the similar problem. I got a SE V6.
I just got a 2015 XSE a few days ago and I'm loving it. Yesterday on my way to work the cruise control was working perfectly. But then on my way home, I noticed my digital speedometer was reading 69 mph even though I had the cruise control set to 70. I waited about a minute to see if the car just needed some time to accelerate. Nothing changed.
So I pushed the cruise control stick up to try to increase the speed. The cruise control number went up to 71 and the speedometer went up to 70. Then I pushed the cruise control stick down to try and match the speedometer. That didn't work either.
No matter what speed I'm at, the cruise control is always 1 mph faster than the speedometer.
I looked around the intertubes a bit and found some Tundras with a similar issue, but nothing on the Camry. It annoys because the car has just under 500 miles on it. Can the speedometer and/or cruise control be recalibrated?
First it wouldn't turn on, at times now it at times won't work even though the light is on, on the dash. At other times it works as expected. I dun think it's the 12V battery, because when only the center console is on in diagnostics the battery reads 12.2-12.4 and 14.5 + when the engine is on.

When I turn my Cruise Control "On" it will light up green on my dashboard, However when I press the "set" button to set the speed nothing happens. It was working fine a few weeks ago. Could it be a fuse? If so what fuse? How I can fix this? 2011 Sonata
View 17 RepliesThe Cruise Control on my truck works intermittently. Sometimes it cuts out when I am driving and sometimes it fails to work at all (usually in the morning). Sometimes it will re engage if it cuts out and sometimes it will not re engage for hours.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 f250 7.3 and the cruise control works when only when the engine is cold. Once the truck warms up, cruise will shut off and not reactivate. I have no lights on on the dash new clutch safety switch a new sensor on the master cylinder horn works and have had a scanner hooked up and compared the electrical values of the buttons pushed to the spec.

Have just begun to have an intermittent problem with the cruise control (has happened twice in past month -- never happened before).
Turn cruise control on, but it will not set. Turning off cruise control and turning it back on didn't solve the problem. However, stopping and turning the vehicle completely off and turning it back on did solve the problem. The second time this occurred (this morning), the engine sounded like it was revving and seemed somewhat sluggish (not what you'd expect if the engine was revving). Not revving real fast, but noticeable.
I was driving and the turned on my cruise control on my car and then the vsc, red triangle, and the check engine light came on. It happened before but the next day when I was gonna take it to the dealer. All the lights have turned off. I have a 2009 Prius
View 1 RepliesThis morning (roughly freezing temperature - nothing out of the ordinary after the brutal winter we just had) got onto the highway to head to work and set the cruise control (as normal) at approx 110km/h (65mph) and after several seconds heard a distinct, quite unpleasant grinding noise. It was loud enough to be heard over the heater and radio. Turned the heater and radio off to listen closer and didn't like the sound of it - sounded like metal on metal.
There was no different feel in the floor, pedals or steering wheel. As soon as I turned cruise control off, the noise disappeared! Turned cruise control back on, and the noise returned approx 5 seconds later. If I continued driving along normally and sustained a certain speed, the noise would appear after 5 seconds again and only go away once I lifted off the gas or coasted down a hill... Very bizarre. Once I got to work and poked my head underneath didn't immediately notice anything out of the ordinary - no funny smells or anything...
Background info: 2011 FX4 ecoboost, crew cab. Stock, no modifications. Approx 134,000km (~80,000 miles)...
This a second time I am unable to turn the ignition key to start up the car. Eventually I was able to do so by exiting and entering the car, but I did not realize what is causing this type of event. Is this a feature of this car so that it is hard to be stolen? Is there anything in the owner's manual explaining what I did or didn't do to cause this problem? I spent about 15 minutes until I was finally able to start the car (using the key), but I want to avoid this issue again.

View 5 RepliesMine has done it a few times now. It seems to do it going up a very long gradual to steeper incline, such as climbing some mountains, when set to 60 MPH. It'll start dropping down until it gets to about 47 +/- MPH, then the cruise just kicks off. No downshifting in sight...
There's a stretch of route 219 through PA heading north towards NY that I encounter about once a month. Yesterday was the 2nd time I've had my Sonata on this trip, and it did it again. It actually did it twice last month on this trip.
The dealer reset the transmission computer due to very cold weather "slipping" from 1-2 shift after the first trip. It appears that didn't take care of this issue, though I didn't mention it to the dealer at the time (it slipped my mind).
I'm reluctant to take it to the dealer, since odds are they won't be able to duplicate the issue. We don't have any roads around here quite like the one this happens on.
Bought a Sonata Limited with 5500 miles on it from local dealership. Soon after I noticed that the cruise did not always engage. Problem is that when I brought it in for service, no one was able to duplicate the problem. What to do?
View 4 RepliesI've looked in the mounds of user manuals as well as searching here but can't find the answer to this question: How do you keep the EV screen showing on the upper dash after turning on radar cruise control? Even if I switch back to any of the EV screens the dang radar ready or the active radar screen takes over no matter how many times I go back to the EV screens. I have already set the option in setup to not automatically return to the previous screen on the 7" HDD screen.
View 8 RepliesBought a 2012 Sonata GLS back on July 3rd. I've had 3 instances where I'll be running on cruise control, I'll disengage it and then when I go to resume it doesn't do anything. I can turn Cruise on and off but it will not Set nor Resume. I have to stop and turn the car off and then back on for it to work again. I have a service appointment this Saturday for an alignment issue so I'm going to have them check this out too.

I've tried everything, took it to toyota who put it on the computer, but nothing is showing, no faults anywhere, and i mean none, every switch for the cruise comes up as working fully and the light also comes on for it.
