Since I'm about to pick up my new (to me) 2012 Camry XLE V6, I noticed some colored dots on the tires and wondered what it means. View 6 RepliesI just notice that two of my tires, all of them Michelin Energy™ Saver A/S tires, seems to be worn out after 10K mile usage. However, when I look these tires at the Michelin web site, it states that these tires have a 64K mile warranty. Also if I decided that two of my tires, all Michelin Energy™ Saver A/S tires, need replacement, could I just replace the two worn out tires or all 4 tires?
View 14 RepliesI'm experiencing less torque and acceleration than I was getting when I first got the car. The car doesn't even have 1,000 miles on it yet. I'm wondering what is wrong with it. When I first got it, just pressing the gas half way would makes the tires spin till 6k rpm. Now the tires don't even spin while pressing it even further than 50% throttle. When I first got it, it had regular gas. Now I use 93 octane fuel. This should give it more power? I'm very confused as to why it was give so much and then now output so little.
My vehicle uses the Bridgestone Turanza tires.
This car has virtually every feature possible. BSM, Back Up Cam, LED DRL, leather, etc.
I've always owned Camry's. 1993, 2010, and now my 2013.
I just purchased a 2014.5 Camry and winter is around the corner. I was going to buy a set of oem 17in SE rims and put snow tires on with out the tpms sensors. The question I have to ask is once the light comes on can you disable the traction control. Reason I ask is because on my 2011 accord it forces the traction control on and is sucks. Snow tires without the sensors.
View 5 RepliesI might be buying a 14 Camry tomorrow. I test drove it the other day and had it looked at by belle tire. They said the rear tires are choppy causing noisy driving. On the highway it sounds really noisy in the front of the vehicle. Everything else checked ok on the inspection but I was trying to find some wheels that will fit the Camry. 5x114 which my parents have a 95 lexus es300 that has 5x114 wheels. Although the tires are 205 65 15. Do I could put those on and will they clear everything to be able to fit?
View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2012 Toyota Camry SE, 4-cyl, with the touch screen that indicates tire pressure. However, the indicators simply show a row of tires, not matching them to wheel locations. I looked it up in the manual and it was silent on this question. What is the "order" assigned to this single row of four tires? Seems odd that the manufacturer would go this far but not label or "map" the tires.
View 14 RepliesI was doing a tune up of my 09 camry with an 2.4L engine due to a rough idle problem i have been having , and I noticed a lot of orange colored dust in one of the 4 spark plug tubes, I mean a lot of it while the other 3 were dust free. I tried my best to clean it out and inspected the spark plugs all seems to be fine. What could be the cause of the dust?
View 9 RepliesI went to an outdoor auto show the other day. When I got home I saw some white paint looking dots on my car. The dots are the size of salt, peppered on top of my car. I can only see it up close. I started using my nails to get them off, they started to break down and some of them started to have fiberglass looking "tails",after some effort I was able to remove a few. I can't see myself doing that on the whole car. Not sure if I should use the clay bar on it, I don't want to scratch the paint.
I'm going to try some of these tips tomorrow, but mine doesn't look like spray paint. It's like some kind of alien paint/fiberglass mix.
The navigation screen on our Gen III displays numerous small dots or "measles." They are white dots with red centers. On main roads they appear regularly along the route. On back roads they appear more randomly. Is this normal? They do not seem to affect the operation of the system.

View 11 RepliesI noticed that there are small dots in the center windshield just above the rear view mirror and wanted to have a tint strip installed to cut some heat and glare from the sun. Is it OK to have the tint over the dots or not? I have seen some priuses around and they just tinted the non dotted part of the windshield between the sides and the dotted center area.
View 8 RepliesI purchased 4 new low-resistance Michelin Fuel Savers tires at 68k miles for my 2012 Toyota Prius C. For 3 1/2 years and immediately before I had it new tires, I enjoyed excellent MPG and I admit I'm OCD with watching mpg screen enough to know my daily habits.
With this new tires and all tires are set 41PSI....I still get POOR mpg with no changes! I almost never reach 50mpg on any trips!Before new tires: My AM commute to work....always 53 to 56mpg, my PM commute to home, 52 or so.New tires: My AM commute to work....barely 43 mpg! maybe 45!, my PM almost never reach 40!
What gives! I e-mailed Toyota service dept, they said did I lose wheel cover? (WTF? It's the same cover I still have it!) then he said, they need to check into it for $150. No way I'm paying $150! that's like another tire! Ugh! What may be the cause? I purchased Mechilen Fuel Savers with LRR tires as recommended. I feel sick to my stomach every time I see piss-poor mpg. I've been driving with this new tires little over 1,000 miles already including 1 day trip to southern California (that trip, 37mpg and 41 back, where the same trips I took before always 54 average depending on the weather and wind directions)
So I just got my 30k oil change done on my 2012 GTI and the dealer found an air bubble in the sidewall of both rear tires (Pirelli P Zero Nero). Luckily I bought a third party wheel and tire protection plan from the dealer where I purchased the car so the tires were covered. Tires were replaced and rotated to the front. Drove home the next day (all interstate travel), and woke up the next morning to find another bubble in the sidewall of the right rear (rotated from the front). 4th tire with a bubble since last August. I know this is an issue with low profile...
View 24 RepliesMy bad struts/shocks have allowed my tires we wear weird and now I sound like a jacked up truck with mud tires going down the road! I'm going to replace the struts and shocks in my car but do you think I can just keep riding on the tires as they still have a ton of tread on them? I can deal with the noise until they are ready to be changed but was just wondering if that can cause any other issue?
View 1 RepliesI've read from quite a few places online that other 2012 Honda Civic owners were having tires go flat, pop and shred while driving (Granted that this is probably the most common car issue that any one faces). The Honda is my wife's car and is less then a year old. I change her flat and checked the other tires ALL of which were dangerously low on air. Seems strange that so many of the same vehicles with low mileage are reporting having the same issues. (Firestone Affinity Tires)...
View 19 RepliesSymptoms as follows: High RPM at idle (1100 rpm), colored smoke ( not white.....maybe blue/gray....hard to tell) from tail pipes during higher than normal rpm. No noticeable plume of smoke during spirited runs either. Only shows high idle symptoms/ smoke once heated up and running for a while. First noticed while stopped and idling for a spell. No CEL and have not ran it for codes. Cold start shows no smoke and normal rpm.
Vacuum showing 18-20" at idle. AFR kinda all,over the place....but nothing completely out of whack. Can't hear any exhaust leaks and turbo still spools up fine. All IC piping intact.
i am going to get rims and have never bought tires before for rims.
when i googled images it looks like the 205/50 look thicker than the 205/45. but i couldn't find a good comparison.
the 205/50 is the right size for my 2003 camry, but i want a low profile look. can you see a difference between 205/45 and 205/50?
also does it matter if i get 205 or 215?
So i need to rotate my tires and i want to know if there a special way to rotate them and if i need to reset the TPM system so the computer know where each tire is? Usually I just switch back to front or, move the driver rear to the front, driver front to passenger rear, passenger rear to front and pass. front to driver rear.
View 14 RepliesI bought a 2012 Toyota Prius 2 on Jan 28, 2013 (just a little over a month ago). The front tires and steering wheel vibrated at highway speeds (here in NY 65-70mph) and so I took it in, they said it needed wheel balancing and rotation. Fine.
Then I was told to wait it out because of the "snow" and "ice" could be the culprit, fine. Then a week or so later, same problem still, even when it got warmer. Took it back in. This time the wheels were "off balance" again. Hmmm, that's funny. So they did a dynamic or forced balance? I don't know exactly, but it was a step up from "normal" balancing (according to them).
The past couple weeks it hasn't been vibrating nearly as much, but it is coming back again intermittently. Today I was driving home from Watertown, NY to Syracuse. It's about an hour or so drive, and it is a state highway, so it isn't too torn up or potholed. Between 66-70mph the steering wheel vibrates quite bad and RANDOMLY at that. Some roads the car at 70mph feels super smooth others not! And the weirdest part is some of the roads it feels smooth on are bumpy or slightly torn up!
I've looked up all the causes of steering wheel and tire vibrations, and I see that there are about 5-10 potential causes. If I have to take this car in one more time I might just scream.
A few weeks ago I heard my car was making this weird noise in the morning, when I go really slow, like when I'm parking in reverse or just getting out of my garage in neutral. It comes from the tires, I don't think the problem is in my breaks, because it doesn't make that sound when I'm breaking and I took my car to the dealer (forgot to mention the sound to them) but they said everything was fine, so my brakes should be fine...
Usually the car makes that squeal-sound in the morning. The sound goes away after I start driving on normal speed (40-45mph).
