I have a 2014 Camry LE with 21,000 miles. I am hearing a clicking sound when I brake while in reverse. What this sound might be? I tried to replicate the sound at the dealer but I couldn't. Now it just started again today.

View 4 RepliesI bought a brand new 2016 Camry LE. Sometimes when car sits for a while, and I shift from P to R, there is a clunking noise with foot on the brake. I tried with the parking break engage and it still does it.
View 4 RepliesI just bought a new corolla a few weeks ago, (Build Date April 2012), so far the car is great except for one issue.
I've noticed when pulling out parking spaces the steering column makes a clicking noise. It sounds more like a plastic noise. My last car had to have intermediate steering shaft lubed every 40k (Pontiac) but it was more of a "clunk" sound. This is more plastic on plastic noise however this appears to be only when the wheel is about 1/2 turn from the "end" or all the way left, or all the way right.
I am trying to figure out if this is a "normal" sound or if something was not put together right. Here is a video .....
I just started hearing a loud click when I change from park to reverse and from reverse to drive. If I keep moving the knob between those three spots with my foot on the brake and hand brake off, I hear a loud click at each spot. Hard to describe... anyway, this only happens when I first start the car, by the time I get to work if I try doing that when I park there is no loud click sound. The thing is, I don't know if this was always happening and I just noticed it now, or if it just started.

Brought it in to Lexus to get the complimentary 19-point inspection and they said I needed new brake pads and rotors. I did do a search and found it can be issues with front spindles, sway bar, bushings.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2016 XLE with the head unit that has nav but is not the premium JBL. My wife and I both use our phones in the car. We both have Samsung Galaxy S5 phones. I have the Entune app on my phone. My phone sounds great when I use the hands free talking. When my wife calls me from the car her phone sounds horrible. Two identical phones and one sounds great and the other horrible. Is there a fix for this problem?
View 9 RepliesOn a very cold start, overnight, temps are zero or below the car starts okay but sounds rough for a few seconds and lets out a bad smell. Almost like it stumbles at first then is rough then goes normal cold running. Car is at 40k miles.
View 7 RepliesI recently bought a 2012 VW Jetta. My first German car, it has been both a really fun learning experience and (more often than not) a nightmare to work on. That said, I still am enjoying the car and intend to keep it for a while.
This past weekend, I took the factory wheels off to sand and paint them black, because I thought the car would look nice with black rims (and it was a lot cheaper than buying a whole new set!) Everything went well, I put them back on, and the car drives perfectly. Except it doesn't.
Now, I've got a noise coming from the rear passenger side wheel well. I'm not sure exactly what is causing the noise, and while I fancy myself a halfway decent Saturday Mechanic; I cannot diagnose or repair this problem myself. I have little to no experience working on drum brakes. All I know is this: the lug nuts are torqued, and the dealer has taken apart the brakes and informed me that nothing is broken or out of place. This cannot be the case - SOMETHING is making that clicking noise!
More information: it sounds JUST like the clicking noise you get when you forget to tighten your lug nuts and go for a drive, the rim moving around on the wheel studs and that noise it makes- this sounds exactly the same... The "click click click click" sound increases tempo as vehicle speed increases, and in volume when you very lightly apply the brakes and turn either direction. I don't know what to do, as usual, the closer I get to the dealership's service manager, the noise fades away.
I have a 2012 Elantra limited. About 2 weeks ago I've started to hear a clicking noise coming from the gearbox when brake pedal is pressed and let go. This only happens when the car is at standstill. I took it in for service today and sales rep said its a normal clicking noise and his sisters car makes same sound. He said its an actuator motor engaging to allow the car to shift when brake is pressed. The thing is, the clicking was never there before or maybe not so loud. So what should I do? Car is still under warranty, should I demand for them to replace the actuating motor? Maybe call Hyundai and complain that they said the noise is normal ?

I've narrowed it down and I'm almost positively sure that it's coming from the hard plastic piece on top of the clock in the center of the dashboard. I'm wondering if I am hearing this more often because it has been extremely cold out and it's a hard plastic?

i got my otocam3 from adc mobile and will be adding a backup camera to but need to connect the (+) reverse wire from the radio.
Whats the right way to shift the car, when I reverse the car and want to change it drive D, should car be at complete stop OR we can still change it from R to P with with car slowly moving back. I usually apply brake, and let it complete stop, then change the gear shifter. But yesterday I was in hurry and didn't wait for the stop, car was very slow, but I didn't notice any jerks or anything wrong with it.
View 5 RepliesI bought a 2015 camry xse v6 and it is awesome. There is a clicking/popping noise (mostly popping) coming from the dashboard or the area of middle of the dashboard were the radio and ac controls are. I took it to the dealership but they couldn't figure out the problem, one of the workers told me it might be that the plastic needs to loosen up and to keep on driving it. It does it more often when it is hot outside and it is really annoying.

View 14 RepliesA coworker has asked me to take a look at their 2013 Camry LE, 48,000 miles. It has a quite annoying vibration at idle and only when in reverse or drive. AC is not running this time of year, but does get worse if the compressor is turned on.
I'd like to think the trans and engine mounts are fine. It does not have any noticeable torque converter shudder. I have cleaned the throttle body, not that dirty, but not much improvement.
I suggested that he try different brands and grades of gas to see if matters improved at all - Shell 89 seems to be a slight improvement over what is normally used (just 87 from Costco, Sunoco, or Hess), but nothing substantial.
Spark plug change, decarbonizing top end?
Spark plugs look about like I'd expect an iridium plug to at these miles - no signs of oil burning, not tons of carbon, etc. I didn't get a real good look at the piston tops.
I have a 2012 camry hybrid that had the stock push button radio and I wanted to add a backup camera. So I picked up a 2013 camry entune display head unit to replace the stock one without a display.
The backup camera does not work when the car is in reverse and I see that the mpg and other data does not update on the radio display, although all of the same data is displayed on the instrument cluster.
I am planning to buy this 2012 Camry LE (38k), automatic, I am on the test run and realized that the car's shifting from park to reverse is harder than shifting from reverse to drive. What I mean is, it is really hard to move the selector from Park to Reverse.

Lately the weather has been warmer so I'm driving with the window open and I've noticed a slight clicking sound coming from the front end (only when turning right) when going through a corner like an off ramp on on ramp. I tried tapping the brakes but that had no effect. It almost sounds like the brake scraper, but not as harsh. The original brake pads couldn't be worn out yet.
View 4 RepliesI work at 5am and for the past few weeks ive noticed a clicking sound coming from driver side engine while on the brakes at a red light... it only happens early in the morning before i hit the highway and it drives me crazy! its like one of those portable fans and you put your finger on it and click click click click... but once i let go of the brakes its gone and back on it, it starts again... ive never had this issue in the texas weather but maybe cool morning is doing this? i have 18k on it, that would be great! i am do for an oil change at 20k and can ask them but idk if it will do it while at the dealership but maybe i can find the issue and fix it now.
