My car is making almost like a clunking sound when starting. It doesn't do it all the time, mostly it is when its a cold start but its happening more frequent. I have the push button start, would warranty cover this?
View 2 RepliesI've a loud squeaking sound coming from the front of the engine on cold start. This only happens when I start the engine after overnight parking . There are no squeaks when the engine is warmed up or when I start up with a warm engine.
I'm driving an 07 Camry and live in a region with hot tropical weather.

Over the past month or two, I've noticed a clunking sound coming from the front brakes when you apply the brakes. It seems to only happen when you're backing up and after the car has sat a while.
View 3 RepliesWhen it rained recently, the windshield wiper started making a loud squealing noise whenever it would wipe down. When I would spray the windshield fluid, the noise goes away but returns when I stop. No noise when it wipes up or when the rain is light drizzle or very heavy. So only noisy when rain is medium to heavy.
I thought maybe something sticky got on the windshield so used a regular glass cleaner multiple times but it's still noisy. What it could possibly be???
Today in the morning it was slightly cold so I turned on the heat in my car. The fan started making a loud whistling sound and in about 2 minutes it stopped. Is this a sign of a bad fan?
View 2 RepliesSo, I have this problem that comes back when the temperatures drop below about 20 degrees F. The truck is a 2012 F350 diesel with 15k miles and has done it since it had 3,000 miles on it. When turning in an intersection, or just moving the steering wheel left to right, it makes a clunking sound up in the front steering area and you can feel it a little as well. I have taken it to the dealer and they tightened the body mounts, but that did nothing. Once it warms up, the sound is gone.
This, coupled with the rear end clunking loudly over every bump and pothole when it is cold out, makes this truck a real noisy/annoying vehicle in the winter.

Yesterday evening I started up my 2008 variant 3.6 4motion after it had been sitting for about 24 hours. It started up right away but immediately started making a clanging racket that sounded just like an old Mercedes Diesel that needs a tuneup. It was such a loud and odd noise that at first I thought it was another car or truck pulled up next to me!
After about 5-10 seconds it settled down and idled normally--no warning lights, no leaks, no performance issues. I took it on a ~7 mile mixed freeway and surface streets drive with A/C off and on and it ran like a champ, then it sat again for a couple of hours before the return trip and started up & got us home with no problem.
It definitely wasn't the normal injector noise and it wasn't the emissions SAI (Secondary Air Injection) pump either. Since it's a 2008 (and since it's still running) I'm ruling out the oil pump bolt. The accessory v-belt and tensioner look fine and engine oil level/pressure are good, too.
We're experiencing our first real hot weather of the summer (low 90s) and it had been baking in the sun all day, so I'm wondering if the temperature caused pinging on startup before the ECU adapted?
Today, of course, it was normal. Have any other 3.6 drivers ever had this happen?
I know there is an Option to adjust the beeping sound when Lock or Unlock Doors (I tried that already). But Is that possible to make the Beeping sound really loud..I mean loud like honking the Horn. Know what I'm talking about?
On the 2001 Nissan Xterra, when I Lock the door ..sound like the horn.
I am having an issue with my 2002 GTI 1.8T. I have tried searching for an answer to this, and found a couple things saying maybe it could be the secondary air pump but wanted to get more opinions before I go shell out money to chase this problem.
When I start up the car in the morning after having it sit overnight, the car does the normal thing where it increases rpm's to about 1100 to warm it up. During this a loud "whistling" noise can be heard. Once the car is warmed up a little bit, the rpm's decline to about 900, and the whistling sound goes away. When this happens though it almost sounds as if a valve or something is closing causing the noise to go away.
Also, I am unsure if this is related to this, sometimes when I am driving, I will be accelerating and the car seems to stop accelerating as strong as it was, boost goes down from around 8 or 9 psi to about 4 and I seem to lose power as if I had let off the gas some. When I put my foot further down the car accelerates harder again and boost goes back up.
I have already changed spark plugs, cleaned MAF sensor, and run the 3m 3 part engine cleaning kit through it.
We were flagged down on the highway by a very nice fellow motorist because we were gushing coolant. It was gushing. My passenger was a guy friend who used to work as an aircraft mechanic and works on his own vehicles, so I deferred to his supposedly greater automotive knowledge when he said I didn't need to call a tow truck. We got to within 100 feet of my mechanic (about 5 miles away) when my poor Jeep conked out after losing power and making an increasingly loud clunking noise for the last 500 or so feet. We pushed it in to the auto repair bay. The engine was smoking and would not start. The mechanic replaced a worn out radiator hose, which had become disconnected from the radiator (due to swelling, I think he said?), and the truck runs. There isn't a discernible difference in the engine performance after driving it around town for the day. My question is this: is the engine likely to be FUBAR and am I just playing a waiting game until it croaks?
View 8 Replies I purchased back in January my 2013 Passat and today for the first time, I noticed that when I turn my steering when the car is not moving, I hear a clunking sound and I can actually feel the clunk too.
When I'm driving I don't feel or hear anything. It's really when the car is on but not moving.
This is getting annoying because this is the 3rd time something is going wrong with my car.
Going back to the clunking, I was reading that it's a common problem with most VW vehicles.
What it could be. I don't wanna look like an idiot that's been going to the dealer so often for these types of issues.
My FSB is making some clunking noises. Literally sounds like metal on metal banging. Im thinking its the FSB bushings. I just put the bar in about 4-5 months ago, not sure how the bushings could be shot already. The car only makes these noises at low speeds. On the highway i dont hear a thing. I installed the bar myself, so i know there is very little room for play.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2012 Camry SE with about 30k on it. I've always been a huge Toyota fan but I've had some interesting things happen with my first new car that has me questioning quality. I've had a mouse nest in the cabin air filter with the dead mouse laying in the engine bay (not a toyota issue), a loud rattling exhaust/engine rattle when I start the car, and the common interior creaks that I've been reading about.
However I've noticed a noise coming from somewhere behind the dash, maybe the instrument panel area that has been very annoying. It occurs at highway speeds usually above 65mph and it's kind of like a quick tapping. Very faint but definitely noticeable.
Its not the sunroof because, unfortunately I have that issue also lol. It took me a while to narrow it down to behind the dash but that's as far as I can get because I can't search for it while I'm driving. I'm not very picky but I do like to drive in silence sometimes and listen to the sounds of the engine/tranny shifting (weird I know) but that dashboard noise has been ruining it.
Today, I took my 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T with 67,000 miles on it to a local mechanic to check the right front suspension that has been making a clunking sound when hitting potholes, etc. I was told that the right front coil spring is broken. This afternoon, I looked on line on some of the Saab discussion boards and saw that for cars up 2006 that there was an extended warranty offered for 10 years and 120,000 miles due to multiple cars with this problem caused by an, allegedly, faulty design that allowed the springs to corrode and fail prematurely in snow belt states that salt the roads.

View 15 RepliesI have a 2012 Camry Hybrid 4 cylinder. I like the car but it has a knock on cold start. I have around 12000 mi on the car. I noticed the knock after a few months of ownership. It does not do it every time. Usually happens after sitting overnight and in colder weather. I live in Minnesota so it gets cold. The car is always garaged. It started as a knock for around 15-20 seconds. Now it seems to be more frequent and lasts for a longer duration, but it eventually smooths out and runs fine. The noise does not sound good. Sounds like there is no oil in the motor and it vibrates and shakes some until it finally smooths out. I just think this sound should not be from a Toyota, with its advanced engine design.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2012 F-150 Platinum 6.2L. Every morning after a cold start, I get this humming sound until the engine heats up. It does seem to get a little quieter when I'm moving but not much. This only happens after the first start of the day and has only started doing this since it's been cold (20-30 F).

I have a 1995 Toyota Camry. I let my niece use it while on xmas break when I went to go pick it up it made a clunking screeching sound as i tried to back it out of the parking lot. I found it difficult to turn the wheel as well. I had to get it home so I drove from Orlando to St Augustine. Weird thing is that once on the highway going 70mph i didn't hear the sound anymore. I thought it was ok. I stopped in Daytona for gas and as i pulled away that sound began again. This lasted until i got to accelerated to about 50mph this time. I heard it again going through my neighborhood which is 25mph. It was very difficult to turn the wheel. My husband checked the power steering fluid which it was empty.

View 14 RepliesI have 2012 sentra with CVT transmission & 60,000 miles. I just got 60,000 miles service done. Service adviser called me to let me know that I need to have replaced upper strut bearing on the front (left & right) replaced because they are making clunking noise when turn wheels or parking. When I asked for the reason why they should go bed he told me that it's normal, some sand other debris could clog there or water could have damaged it.
