View 14 RepliesOn my recently purchased 2013 Camry with DUAL VVT-i on the engine I cannot locate the transmission fluid dipstick.. I have ordered the owners's manual but it has not arrived.
View 14 RepliesI cannot find the transmission dipstick to check the trans fluid? I looked in the owners manual also and I can't find it.
View 14 RepliesI recently got an iPhone 5s which I paired to my '12 SE with the premium display audio with nav & Entune head unit. When I try to enter a nav destination from my phonebook I get the message "address not found on map" for a lot of entries. I have confirmed that the addresses look OK in my contact list on the phone. The addresses that don't work are not dimmed out so the system sees them but for some reason when I go to edit them from the nav, destination, phonebook list the street name and # are not there.

View 9 RepliesMy wife drives an 07 camry; 4 cyl/auto. the transmission has a dipstick so I can check it, and I can see it is discolored. the car has 76kmi on it. she just drives it back and forth to work; no abuse, no start/stop, just highway and 45mph roads.
I am going to change the trans oil. I see on the dipstick it take Toyota WS fluid. I'll buy it at the dealer to be safe.
do I *really* need to drop the pan and change the filter? I have a fluid evacuater, and could suck it right out the dipstick, or I can pull the pan plug.
Is the dealer going to sell me a filter and pan gasket? I have read that many dealers wont even sell me the parts.
I am about 7300 miles from my last oil change about a year ago. I was checking my dip stick the other day and while I was looking at it, I got a whiff of what definitely smelled like gasoline.
I have a little over 47k miles on it, and barely drive it 10k a year, mostly city some highway trips here and there.
Is this normal? Should I be concerned? If gasoline does mix with the engine oil, is the ECU smart enough to pick up any anomalies and alert me with a check engine light?
Fluid level on the dipstick looked fine.
Here's the scoop, was driving down the freeway the other day, car is a 2001 PT Cruiser going about 65-70 MPH when all the sudden it felt as if I had hit something, a loud bump sound which came from underneath the engine, then an immediate reduction in speed and acceleration. After that, I was trying to accelerate the car, the RPMs were revving like crazy but the car would not go more than 15 MPH, while the RPMs were revving and revving, almost as if I was in park.
Got the car to the side of the road, opened the hood and found that the top of the dipstick (transmission) had blown off and shot transmission fluid all over the engine. Unsure of why this happened but sure that was what the loud sound was before the drastic drop in acceleration.
After that I had the car towed to my house, now it will start, but not drive in reverse at all, i'm afraid to try driving it to inspect it further but that's pretty much where I am at right now. There's 117k miles on this car...
I have recently purchased Prius 2012 JDM. It s L edition (Base edition). I want to install fog lights and drl. But couldn't find any space.
View 6 RepliesMy sister has a 2006 HHR which seems to be having some transmission/gear box issues. She took it to a local shop who did a diagnostic and told her that a sensor was going bad that delt with her gear shift. The HHR is a automatic but when she puts the car in park sometimes the doors don't automatically unlock like they are suppose to and she has some difficulty with putting it in park some times or getting it out. Also when driving she says it seems like there are problems with the transmission finding the right gear. However said she could not do any damage by driving it till she had the monies to get it fixed. Does this make any sense?
View 1 RepliesCan the 2014 2.5 cyl Camry be driven safely for a short distance (under 10 miles) with some of the transmission fluid drained?I recently bought my wife a new loaded Camry XLE to replace her 2003 LE. She decided to surprise me and change her own oil to prove a point to me that she could do it. Long story short, she drained out almost a quart (I measured it) of ATF before she realized it shouldn't look red and re-plugged it.
Now I need to take it in to get it topped off, because as far as I can tell there is no dipstick or fill point for the tranny. The nearest dealership is about 9 miles of West Virginia mountain roads away. Do I need a tow or can I drive it in? It is a brand new car and I don't want to risk hurting it.. but a tow is expensive. The car has 6,000 miles on it.
So a few days ago until now I've noticed the transmission jerks as I am driving, like a slight stall and such. Could this mean my transmission is failing, I feel as if the car chokes. My car currently had 8900 miles, all highway driven.
While I was doing some reading, I noticed some people had their ECU resetted. Also my average mpg is 10 mpg on a v4.
I've noticed my Camry hesitating shifting lately. My initial thought was perhaps my transmission fluid was low. But after further review of some articles I don't believe that's it. I saw one mention of the computer and maybe having the transmission fluid levels adjusted?
View 6 RepliesI've done 3 oil changes since picking up my 2012 Lariat 5.0 a little over a year ago. And I've always questioned the accuracy of the oil dipstick - seemed to always read 'low'.
I just changed oil tonight (Motorcraft 5w-20 semi-synthetic), and I measured the oil that I drained out - just about right at 8 qts. I put in 7 qts and 24 oz (about 1.6 - 2 oz over the 7.7 qts that it calls for) and the oil barely reaches the low level on the dipstick.
I guess between what I drained out and my current oil level reading, my dipstick is not accurate.
I just did a drain and refill method on my 2014 Camry SE last weekend. However, after measured and calculated, I took out 2qts 1.5oz, but I only pumped in 1.95 qts. So, now the fuild is about 2oz off. Later, I took about 100 miles trip, car shifted fine.
I planted to do a drain and refill again next week. This time, I think I will carefully measure how much fluid is out then pump in the same + 2oz.
I still not sure if that enough, my question is: Can I buy a thermal gun and then measure the temp of the transmission pan, then perform checking fluid? Should it correct?
My transmission slips when I'm slowing down and I take my foot of the brake. It doesn't always do this but it's still a concern . I have about 42k 12 i4i4 ....
View 4 RepliesWhere the transmission temperature sensor is on a 2014 Camry 4 cylinder. I am contemplating unplugging it to improve shift points. I know it may affect gas mileage but the current shift points suck.
View 2 RepliesMy brand new 2015 Camry LE suffered total transmission failure only at 574 miles. [URL] ..... , uploaded youtube video. It failed due to coolant leaking into transmission housing and contaminated trans fluid.
View 14 RepliesI own a Camry SE 2012. Like a title above, driving with the ECO button on? I used to turn it on all the time, however, I've noticed something strange on my car recently. The transmission doesn't get smooth! I mean with the 6-speed auto transmission, it is supposed to change speed smoothly from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, respectively. It's like when I change from 1 to 2, the transmission is smooth enough, however, when I get to higher, it doesn't get smooth. I'm not sure if I turned the ECO drive off and it would get better or I just feel it so. My first thought was about the engine oil was not lubricated and out of date but I did maintained a week ago. It still happens on my car, but less than before.
View 5 RepliesAn interesting thing happened at the gym today. While getting my 15 ft extension out at the Gym I apparently hit my reboot switch. Coming back out I unplugged and started, only to find out I had no power. Right away I knew what had happened, so I crawled back there and hit the switch up again. To my surprise, I now had a 14 mile range as compared to the usual 10.8. Apparently the traction battery liked sitting in the warm sun today. To reboot or not, that is the dilemma. There are many naysayers to this procedure, but I say they really have not tried it.
