Seems like the black paint on the back of all our mufflers slowly but surely disappears. I'm guessing high heat - flat black (if such a thing exists) would be the way to go.
View 5 RepliesMy RC-F has like 8k miles on the odo. I first noticed it at around 6K miles and I thought my RC-F had picked up some "small pieces of wet tissues or some white paint from road construction". But upon closer examination it is the black paint across the black bumper behind the massive grill peeling the black paint thereby revealing its original white paint.
My front end looks like a Dalmatians dog with black and white spots.
I did not hit anything. Dealer is fixing it under warranty. So will wait and see.

Black paint flaking off the mufflers. I was hosing the car off I hosed the black part of the mufflers and paint started coming off. Looks like hell now. I plan on cleaning them up and putting a few coats of flat black grill or high temp paint on them.
View 5 RepliesProblem with the paint chipping/flaking on the hood of a 2010 LE? I have three spots, about 1/16"-1/8" on my hood that have chipped/flaked and you can see the primer. I don't think that I have been hit by flying debris but that's not to say that it couldn't be the case. I'm thinking of mentioning it to the dealer when I go in for my 20K service just so it is on record should there be some future TSB/recall for a paint problem. Car has been on the road for 18 months.
View 14 RepliesIt appears it is mostly surface rust and am looking for something relatively simple to fix it. I would prefer to use something in aerosol cans since it is small amount of total area, maybe Rustoleum products?
I will attempt to remove as much of the rust as possible with circular wire brush on drill but feel there will still be little crevices that I won't be able to fully clean.
I'm also interested in knowing what I should use to harden the surface to prevent the excessive chipping of paint in this area.
I have a '98 Camry. The windshield and side window rubber gaskets/molding is cracking, and there's paint peeling on the roof. I have 166k on it and it runs fine. Do I need to do something about these issues? I'm concerned about water leaks (not yet), but don't care about it cosmetically.

View 3 RepliesI've got some parts of the pain on my reflex silver wagon that have begun chipping off of the rear bumper near the edge. I'm assuming the PO was trying to lift something into the back and didn't quite make it high enough...a few times. Anyway, the surface underneath the paint is black, so I'm assuming it's plastic.
View 1 RepliesMy 2013 Red Prius C started to chip on the door edges around 6 months after purchase. My guess is it has something to do with the extremely thin/light metal used to make the car and the quality of the paint. I've owned the car for 2 1/2 years now and the problem is only getting worse. The dealership says I'm the only person to ever have this issue and blamed me.
View 6 RepliesSo I saw these really cool Nissan wounded warrior project pics and get a little inspired to "army out" my excursion. The paint on it is checking/chipping real bad so I need to deal with it, and vinyl wrap is cheap enough so here I go!!
Problem is I'm having a terrible time picking something I can:
1) Desert Tan/Black combo
2) Tan Everything
3) Nato Olive
4) Just gloss / wet black the whole thing, murder it out

Having problems with the paint chipping on the rear bumper? Dealer said on the phone paint is only covered if it rusts. Will bring it in tomorrow for them to check, but I'm not getting a good feeling that they will cover it. Car has only 3500 miles on it! Bumper shouldn't be chipping like this.
View 18 RepliesI washed our 2010 Corolla today and was in the process of wiping down the rims when I noticed they all have this funny corrosion looking thing happening to all of them at the center of each rim.
The vehicle has scheduled maintenance coming up at the dealer so I am just going to show them the rims when I take it in next week.
On my Phaeton, I've got some paint chipping right below one of the rear tail lights. It is strange since this is not an area that would get any type of abuse, and I don't think the tail lights have been removed before. I am wondering if this is something that I could touch up myself. If not, should I get a dealer to look at it?

It's coming off on all 4 wheels and its OEM original paint. I can see other areas where the paint has cracked and starting to lift as well. These Lexus wheel paint really suck... My Volvo alloys are 18 years old and still do not have peeling issues like this!!
View 7 RepliesBought the wife's 2013 Elantra GL in March, it is North American built, and has only 4500 kms on it. Last week we noticed a couple cracks in the paint and it looks like the paint it wrinkling and therefore opening up at the crack. Both cracks are located in the exact same position on either side of the car, and the exact same. They are on the plastic bumper cover, where the bumper meets the quarter panel and tailight. Since the paint has migrated back, you can clearly see the black plastic underneath. Sent a text message to my service rep and he said it should be no problem to get it covered under warranty. Now, just need to make the time to get the car into the dealer...

My 2013 ES350 is 3 months old, treated like a baby, and today I noticed paint peeling on the left front rim in two places (white areas on photo below). I never hit a curb (or anything else), and there is no dent or scratch associated with this.

View 1 RepliesWondered if others have had a problem with spots of paint peeling off front bumper? Bought car new and have 42,000 miles, rest of paint is in great shape. It is not terrible, but like keeping car nice, would be nice if covered under warranty. Been this way for awhile, maybe should have taken it in, haven't even mentioned it to Hyundai.
