I just bought a '12 Camry SE. However, the belt line molding (shiny trim piece below window) is dented in. How can I safely remove the piece without damaging anything? I may be able to knock the dent back out of this piece after removing it. Any specific tools required for removal? If I purchase the new molding from the dealer it will cost about $100, which I would like to avoid.

Long story short, the tint shop burned my exterior door pillar when I got it tinted like 8 months ago. Just now felt like dealing with it, so I got the new part in. How to replace it? The back has a lot of what looks like double sided tape and only 1 clip. In order to get the other one off it looks like I have to take off the chrome strip at the bottom since the black molding goes underneath the chrome...

View 2 RepliesInstalled the Rough Country winch mount yesterday. One hour, by myself. Used a floor jack to lift it in place.
Only problem was removing the plastic molding which came in the spot the fairlead will be. Just a small rectangular plastic molding with a couple of bars down the middle for looks. It had two screws on top edge, and two pushpins on bottom , but also was molded with two catches on each side on the back I did not see. When I figured it out, and squeezed with just my fingers, little too hard and snapped one catch on each side. They slide into a slot and catch but wont be doing that ever again. Oh well.
As for mount, solid and easy to install. I used hand tools as the air gun would only hit one of the bolts for the front tow hooks. The other was blocked by plastic molding. No big deal.

I did a sub and amp install on a friends '14 SE with the upgraded stereo with DSP. I ran the line outs off the front channels, like I did with my standard stereo. Should I have ran the line out off the rear channels? I know that they cut off the bass signal to the rear speakers on the standard stereo, and that alters the signal going to the line out. Is the opposite true on the upgraded stereos? Do they cut the bass output on the front channels instead of the rear?

I just changed the oil and filter for the first time. The good book says the capacity is 4.6 qt. I did that, started the engine, let it circulate then shut it off for a half hour. The dip stick shows about half way between the full and add markers. So, seems like the capacity to the fill line is more like 5 qt.
How to remove the front map light assembly. I was trying to replace my map light with LED and one of the holder came off from the assembly. Is there anyway to secure it without removing assemble?

View 14 RepliesI just bought a 2015 Camry LE. The back seat belt buckles keep disappearing beneath the seat surface when you try to put your seat belt on. It's even more annoying when you have a child trying to buckle up in a booster seat. I went back to the dealer & they showed me several other 2015-2016's and they all do the same thing. Apparently, it's a Toyota design flaw & not an annoying quirk to my car. Any solution to keep the buckle above the seat?

View 2 RepliesI'm in the habit of starting the car andthen putting on my seat belt while it is warming up.So I used the Carista OBD2 app to disable the seat belt chime on my 2015 Camry. This is supposed to be the same as doing it from Techstream, I believe.But the ding still sounds several times once I turn the key. The seat belt warning light also flashes in synch with the dings.I confirmed the settings:

I have a 2012 Camry LE 4 cylinder non-hybrid at 31,000 miles. I was changing the oil yesterday and noticed a repetitive squeaking noise from the front passenger side of the engine. Upon looking closer, the belt tensioner has a constant wobble. Maybe around 1 cm of deflection with the belt. The AC condenser was running. Is this normal? Do I need to replace the tensioner? If so, what the torque spec is for the main tensioner bolt (pivot bolt)?
