is there a way to make a text message make a sound alert? It will pop up for just a couple of seconds saying "new text message" but if I happen to miss that message. Just wondering is there a way to make it chime or something?
View 8 RepliesWhen I first start my truck (13 SD, 6.2 with Sync touchscreen) and shift into reverse with the backup camera screen showing and if I happen to get a new text message, the alert pops up on top of the camera image. If I click nothing at all (often don't have time to, notification is short), the home screen quadrant will then appear on top of the backup camera image with a small sliver of the camera image on top and bottom behind the home screen. If I shift out of reverse and back to reverse, I get the backup camera screen back.
Since my "deleting" messages on my truck doesn't do anything with my phone (Nexus 5), I get this problem every time I start up and go into reverse unless I wait for the alert to pop-up first and ignore it.
This started happening with the latest Sync update and I checked for any new updates, none to be had that I can see. I had it into the dealership yesterday who said they couldn't duplicate the issue although they failed to ask me to demonstrate to them with my own phone. Being I've had trouble with them in the past, that part was partly my own fault for "testing" them on that. I fail to see how a setting in my phone could control the screen behavior like this though, so I don't buy it.
With a handful of other problems related to that darn touchscreen, I've just disabled bluetooth syncing likely for good. It's pretty darn terrible.
My wife have a 14 Corolla LE Plus, no NAV and every time I get a text message it pop up on the screen and I can play the read out message over the car speaker system.
On my Camry it does not do this. I have NAV with the 7" screen. I try matching the setting of my Camry to the Corolla and it seen to be the same but still it does not ready out the message or even pop up when I get a text message.
My IPhone 5 is paired with the car that I know that for sure, all my phone book contacts and phone work just fine even play music from my phone. I can't find anything in the manual.
Bought a 2011 Camry XLE and the radio doesn't scroll from title of song -> name of artist -> channel number while I'm driving. It does scroll thru information when I'm at a stop.

I paired my Galaxy S3 phone with the PIP and when my phone receives a text message, I get the prompt on the Prius' screen to read the text message to me. I then paired my wife's iPhone4 to the car, but when she gets a text, there's no prompt on the Prius' screen to read the text. Where should I start troubleshooting this?

View 3 RepliesI just upgraded my 2010 Camry XLE to the 2015 XLE Hybrid this weekend. Couple of issues... How to get the voice activated system to SEND text messages? I can receive and view them through the car display, but can't get them to respond. I get through all the prompts and then upon sending it stops and says it's not supported.
Second, what I need to get for my iPhone 6 Plus in order to use the built in Qi wireless charger that came with my car? Also, where can I get whatever it is I need to attach to my phone?
Got a low tire pressure alert this morning. Was running late for work and the tires weren't noticeably low and work is only 5 miles away so I decided to do it after work. Went to the gas station to get some air and all the tires were at 33 ish and one was at 20. Filled it up and drove for about 25 minutes but the error light never came off.
View 9 RepliesFor the last several days, most of the times I've started my car I've had the Red "Check Coolant Level" message on the MFD - accompanied by a tone / chime.
The first time it happened, I was a tad below Min, so I added a 'glug' of G13 to push it back up into the normal range. Everytime I've checked it since, the level is in the normal range.
So how is the level "sensed"? I had a new coolant reservoir put in about 18 months ago, so my "hope" is that it's not actually that (though those are really cheap).
Is there something else I should be cleaning / renewing? Maybe as simple as the electrical connection on the reservoir?
Is there a way to disable the beep and text received message on the headunit? You have two choices, Read or Cancel. When I'm driving, I really don't care about texts at all. I don't want whatever is on the stereo obscured.
View 1 RepliesMy local dealer (who seems very good) suggested they repair an oil leak at the timing chain cover before my 60K warranty expired. Kept the car 2 days waiting for parts. Then some very odd problems developed.
First I noticed the AC wasn't working: fan runs but will not blow cold. Dealer said must be something else because they didn't touch the AC. Then after a half hour of driving the AC suddenly starts blowing cold.
Maybe an hour of driving later, the dash beeps, alerts, and "low oil pressure" comes on the screen. Shut it off & have it towed to dealer.
While checking the mileage at the dealer, the service adviser and I both see the dash beep, alert, and ABS and Trak alarms go off.
Tech resets the computer but says he can't find any error codes. Systems and oil pressure all seem ok.
I drive 10 min, and.... beep, alert, "low oil pressure".
I figured out how to get the text message function to work on my head unit. It was a setting on my iPhone, under Bluetooth it was the "show notifications". Then all of a sudden bam any texts I get while in the car pop up and the HU will read them aloud, also there are a bunch of quick responses.

I noticed when I have my iphone 4s plugged in to the USB and my BT is on I don't get the notification noise that i always do when I get a text message. When I get a phone call it rings on the car speakers since I have it connected to my BT but not the text message. I commute to work over an hour each way and i hate to keep checking my phone to see if I got a text since it's not going off when I get a message.

Also, I use Waze as my GPS and I would like to have the turn-by-turn directions play through the car speakers. How to do this? Right now it's playing through the phone speakers. I can receive calls through the car bluetooth though.
I have a 15 Camry, and the other day after about five minutes of driving, the BSM (blind spot monitor) gave a long beep and then an error message to check the BSM showed on the instrument cluster. I tried to reset it while driving by turning the BSM on/off. This didn't work.
After restarting the car, it went away. I've never had a car with BSM, and didn't see any damage to the bumper.
I recently have been having a few rather annoying issues on my 2010 Elantra.
First thing I noticed yesterday (note weather out is/was rather chilly and rainy) was that the red parking brake light was kind of flickering.. Not flashing, or staying on just flickering a tad and then going off; typically just when I first turn on the car. So of course that had me a little bit concerned.. Then when I got out of my car and locked it using the keyless entry and the lights on the car wouldn't flash, nor would the horn sound when hit twice. So I checked to see if they still flash twice when unlocking the car and they do.
Today I noticed that while driving down the road my car would occasionally unlock the doors by themselves (think its an electrical short??) and also the sound on my radio would occasionally turn up and down by itself (I know its a feature for road noise, but it did while stopped at a light too).
Parking assist & sensors for back is working and show alert in screen but no sound alarm. I need to get more information about the car i just buy it....

View 14 RepliesIt seems that many 2012/2013 Camry owner with sunroof has popping sound issue. Based on reading threads that are already out there it either happens right away or after 10,000+ miles of ownership when outdoor temp gets cold or driving over a bump. What is not clear is, too me, if this issue happens to majority of Camry owner with sunroof or minority. I for one own a 2013 Camry with sunroof with almost 3000 miles on it but I do not have this issue. Was wondering if Camry owner with sunroof can chime here whether or you have this issue and how many miles you have on the vehicle. What percentage of Camry with sunroof are having this issue.
