My 2012 Camry alarm goes off randomly. Troubleshooting?

View 3 RepliesMy dad has a very low mileage '12 Camry XLE with the 4-cylinder motor. Recently, the alarm will just go off randomly. After re-arming it, it may go off again in a few minutes, and may do this many times in a row. Or, weeks may pass where it doesn't happen at all. It is a really annoying issue. The battery is fully charged, and both FOBs had their batteries replaced.
I know if it is brought to the dealer, and the problem cannot be replicated while there, they will tell us that they cannot diagnose it. I have read that it may be the hood latch and sensor.
My 08' Camry i4 LE has been locking the same way..... I press the lock button twice, then the car honks once, and everyone's happy.
About a week ago, my car started honking twice after I press the lock button twice. This hasnt happened in 1.5 years but it didnt really bug me.. at first.
My problem is... my car's alarm goes off randomly after I lock it. It's like someone pressing the panic button on my fob.. What is wrong with my car all of a sudden??
I read another thread and have disconnected the battery. I will wait an hour and re-connect to check again. I've also read somewhere that I might need a "latch and sensor replacement"..
I was moving something this weekend and could not close the trunk all the way. The trunk / door open alarm was beeping the whole time. I was only driving 10 minutes or I swear I would have ripped the stupid thing out of the car somehow !!!!!!
Can this beep / alarm be disabled or set to turn off after 30 seconds like the seatbelt chime?
The buttons on my keys would randomly not work and then hours later or seconds later it would work again. Then later it won't work. I can't seem to find the pattern but so far it seems that it will randomly work and not work. I even tried changing the battery and that did nothing. I went to the dealership but once they started working on the car it key buttons worked and they couldn't get it to not work. I can start the car and manually lock and unlock the car. The buttons just won't work at times.
View 3 RepliesThe other day I reversed into a parking spot, and noticed as I was braking and reversing a loud clicking sound is coming from what seems the front driver side engine area. Every time I would brake it would click. I read of this problem on the Gen 6 and apparently there is a TSB for the front Rotors needing to me re-machined? The funny thing is this only happens when I reverse and brake, but it only happens randomly.
View 14 RepliesI was driving down I-35 when all of a sudden I heard a loud boom sound and realized my rear driver passenger side window shattered and I was smelling a burning smell. I drove the vehicle directly to Don Ringler Service Station but they showed no concern or interest in looking into the issue and was told I would need to repair the vehicle at my own expense and never bothered to look into the burning smell issue.
View 4 RepliesMe and my fiancee have a 2013 Camry SE and we've been having issues with our fuel gauge... It randomly will just stop working... First time it happened she just got in the car from work and it was at empty. When she got to work it was at half a tank... It took about 20-25 minutes of driving for it to slowly reach back to half a tank.... What could/would cause this malfunction?? And then today on her way to work it did the same thing..
View 2 RepliesI have a V10 TDi Phaeton and all of a sudden the alarm is going off randomly. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to when its happening.
View 6 RepliesMy car alarm keeps going off randomly. It doesn't matter if I lock it or not. The car alarm just goes off and quits on its own. What might be wrong?
View 10 Replies I have the car in storage for the winter, and from time to time i will go out and start it. I also hook up one of those automatic battery tenders every so often to make sure that my battery doesn't die completely. I bought the car about 3 months ago, and when i bought it, i could tell within seconds that the car needed a new battery. I will buy one and install it as soon as i am ready to start driving it again. So thats the background story.
My problem is this.... for some reason, with no regularity, the alarm just starts going off. Sometimes it will go off shortly after i ran the car, sometimes it will go off when the car has been completely undisturbed for days. Im wondering what is causing this. I have read things about the sensors having trouble with moisture, but i don't think that is the problem because it has been inside the garage for over 2 months.
My alarm keeps going off randomly. its only happened a few times now but I don't know what's causing it. it went off last night at 9 and a few weeks earlier at 1 in the morning.
View 1 RepliesEvery time I lock my Sonata, either by the lock button in the car or from the fob, the alarm goes off about 10 minutes later.
Can I just disable the car alarm?
I just recently put a new battery in and I was wondering if thats why my car alarm goes off sometimes? I've also noticed about a week ago in my gauge cluster that the sign for the door being opened was on and then it turned off and then flicker on and off for about 30 sec ? So I think that has to do with the alarm but my question is how do I fix this problem???
View 8 RepliesI have an issue, and I don't know if it's kids, animals, or the car itself. Last night it happened at 3am, tonight I'm sitting on the couch at 12.30am and it just went off again....
I don't see anyone out there around the car, not sure I saw anything last night either. Is there a cause for this? I just replaced my 12v battery in March, have a dead FOB smart key in a fire box (it's up on top of everything in the box). My current key was lying flat on the bench, nothing on top of it.
I got my oil changed and tires balanced Saturday at the local shop around the corner. Now my alarm goes off randomly and when I use the clicker thing to lock the car, the horn doesn't make the beep sound it used to on the the second click. It never did this prior to having the oil changed, but how could that have anything to do with the alarm? I need to figure out how to make it stop, it's waking me (and my neighbors) up at night, and I have to keep leaving where ever I am to go out and see if the dang thing is going off again, which it is about half the time.
View 2 RepliesOver the past few days, my (factory) car alarm has started going off in the middle of the night, with no one/nothing near it to cause it to go off. The car battery is less than 9 months old, the doors, windows, hood and trunk are all always closed. Why it is happening?
View 1 Replies13 Sonata alarm keeps going off, press once to arm it. Goes off randomly few minutes latet get told all the time alarms going off.
View 6 RepliesRecently I took my car in for an oil change, & after that when I lock my car it doesn't always make the beep noise to let me know the alarm system is armed.
A little while after that, my alarm started to go off randomly. This happens at random times, all my doors are closed and we even took the car in to get checked(they checked the wires or something I believe because they thought it had to do with my aftermarket remote start)
I've read somewhere about people saying it could have to do with my hood switches? But truth be told I'm not very good with cars.
So recently my car alarm on my GLI has been going off randomly while I'm at work and school. The alarm goes off for about 5 minutes and then stops. Tonight it's going off constantly and I don't want to wake up my neighbors and I need to sleep tonight. It's going off every 5 minutes even after I disarm the car. I've been searching up why it's going off online and haven't had any luck finding the source. Also after a few minutes of unlocking it the car locks itself and then the alarm sounds.
View 8 RepliesMy 2010 Toyota Sienna alarm keeps going off randomly...there is no method to the madness. It happens after it's been running or not. It happens at all hours of the day and night. It can happen four times in a row and then not for days on end. It's literally driving me insane. I can stop it by pressing the unlock button on the remote. But it will often -- though not always -- do it a few more times after that. So, I open all the doors/trunk remotely and that usually puts an end to it for that period...but not always. But it always happens again...whether it's the next day or seven days later. The mechanic says they need to keep the car and hear/see it happen...but that means leaving my car with them for days on end, which I simply can't afford to do.
