Camry 2012+ :: Adding Backup Camera To LE?
Jul 2, 2013
Is it possible to add a backup camera to a 2012 Camry LE and have it display on the display screen? I have read that many people have added backup cameras to their SEs or XLEs with navigation systems but I wasn't sure if it was possible on a basic LE with no nav. If it is possible to add a backup camera to an LE, which brands will work and where can you typically get them installed?

I have a 2012 camry hybrid that had the stock push button radio and I wanted to add a backup camera. So I picked up a 2013 camry entune display head unit to replace the stock one without a display.
The backup camera does not work when the car is in reverse and I see that the mpg and other data does not update on the radio display, although all of the same data is displayed on the instrument cluster.

How to disable those really useful messages like "phone connection successful" when using the backup camera?
Being sarcastic but I think those messages are actually a safety hazard when using the back up camera since they just pop a take up a lot of screen real estate that I would rather see used to see if I'm about to hit some car or pedestrian.

I would like to add a second backup camera to my 2016 F-350 Super Duty to assist when hooking up to my fifth wheel. It is a Crew Cab with the Factory Tonneau Cover so my view of the hitch is blocked. I would like to add the third brake light high mount camera and be able to toggle between my OEM/Tailgate Camera and the High Mount. I have found a couple that claim they will work but both require tapping into the main connector on the back of the display, but not quite sure how to open it up. Accessing the connector is not a problem, just getting it apart without breaking it is the question. The "Lockpick" system has not been tested/certified for the 2016 model.

My new head unit supports a backup camera, and wiring it in is no challenge.
What IS challenging me is where to mount the bugger, and where to pass the wire through to the trunk front the outside.
I dropped the trunk lid liner and did not see any grommets or pass-through spots for the cables. Do I need to drill a hole and silicone it, or is there something I am missing? If I have to drill, I guess I can do it under the chrome trim piece that holds the trunk lock keyway.

I just bought a 2 din DVD HU and will install a backup camera with it for my 2005 Camry LE.
A few questions:
1) what's the best way to run video cable from HU to trunk? Through side panel then under door molding or through center storage console then under the carpet?
2) what method do you recommend to tap into backup light for +12V to power the camera? Is there a breakout wire harness that I can buy, or splice the wire (then solder them together) or use a wire tap connector (never used these before, are they reliable and do they hold together a couple years)?

I have a 2011 Camry, and I would like to install a wired backup camera. What's the best way of running it from the license plate area to the center dash?
I would like to replace the original radio with a new radio that has a built-in display, so ideally the camera cable would end up somewhere behind the radio. And I would like the cable to not be visible, if possible.
This is the item I'm considering buying: [URL] ....

My wife has a 2010 camry le, and I am interested in possibly getting a higher end backup camera that works with a rear view mirror (the car does not have a nav screen).
I hear some of these cameras are infrared as well? It would be cool if I could use a Toyota system (OEM). A mirror like this would be perfect:

Occasionally i get a vertical line on the left side of the screen when the backup camera is on. Its like the old film days with the line running down on the screen. I can't recreate it.

I am thinking of trying to install a back-up camera on my 06 CRV. Anything I might do wrong that would cause me other electrical problems after. I imagine there would be install instructions with it.

I'd say that 95% of the time I don't miss the 6 cyl that I had in my last car but the other 5% of the time I'd like a bit more power. Is there anything that can be done to give the I4 more power and not reduce the average MPG? I would really like to have increased acceleration from a dead stop.

I noticed that the backup camera on my IS is off centered. The distance shown between my car and the object behind it is fine. The sides are the problem!
When the 2 side lines on the screen suggest that I'm centered, I am actually closer to the left than the right side. I always turn my head when backing up anyway, but noticed this issue from day 1.

Just got my treg back from service. This is it's 10,000mi checkup. One of the issues I asked the dealer to investigate was a backup camera failure. One out of every 100 or so reverses, the camera just doesn't activate. No errors. Just no picture. They tried reverse more than 20 times but were unable to repro.

I have a 2015 Pius C Two and would like to install a backup camera. There are a lot of various kits available for purchase, but most (if not all) of them are being wired to some external monitor. Looking for info about installed such camera and wired it to the screen?
Also, is there a concern of voiding a warranty?

Having issue with their reverse camera being blurry? I saw an earlier thread but it didn't yield much info rather than go to the dealer, which I don't mind as I have a warranty but a DIY is always nice. Anyway, its blurry/out of focus as if my contacts were removed, the yellow lines are clean though. Any fix or way to re-calibrate the camera?

So I bought my car less than a month ago and it has less than 900 miles. The LED in my left front headlight shorted out all the lights on the left side of the car and fried the cabin fuse box apparently. I took it to Hyundai Monday and they had it until today (Friday).
They replaced the cabin fuse box and the whole headlight assembly. They hand me the key FOB and say here you go all set. I get into the car and go to reverse out of the spot and the camera doesn't even try to come on. Its not switching to a blank screen.. just stays on the radio.
The tech at Hyundai didn't have a clue how to fix it and I'm not leaving my car there over the weekend.
Having issue with their rear view camera not even turning on? I see a lot about blue screens, snowy pictures, ect. but that's not what I'm experiencing. I've hit the reset button on the head unit but that isn't working. Is there a way to do a hard reset on everything?

I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. I'm in Canada and just on lunch today, my backup camera decided to stop working unfortunately. Now, when I put the car into reverse...the screen goes black, nothing is on it. I'm not certain if I pushed any buttons or anything on it to turn it off. I did a little research and it could be a frayed wire causing the problem?

My backup camera seems to have all of a sudden lost its aim such that the alignment marker is higher on the right than it is on the left meaning that the edge of the bumper is higher on the right as well. It just happened all of a sudden and seems to be pointed a little to the left. Any way to adjust it or is this one for the 5K mile checkup?

Over the past few months the contrast on my backup camera has been getting worse. It's gotten to the point where almost the entire picture is very hazy. I've gotten obsessive about cleaning the lens but it doesn't do any good. How to correct this issue?
