View 10 RepliesI have a 2012 Camry LE and I always use bluetooth connectivity between my iPhone 6S and the car. I use an online radio app called "Tambura" (similar to pandora but something which caters to Indian Hindi songs). Now I also use my phone as a GPS navigation device on need basis. The problem I am facing is that, whenever I am listening to music using the radio app in my camry's speakers with volume on around 15-20, whenever the Google maps voice says something like "take next exit" or whatever, it is almost inaudible. I expect the sound to be on same level as my music but that does not happen.

I have noticed that after send saying a few voice commands like setting up an address for Navigation (city, street, number etc) the system seems to stop recognizing that I saying a command. I push the voice command and the system will respond with "Say a command", to which I would say a command but the system doesn't seem to either hear me speak or respond to my command. It seems as if the microphone has stopped working or else the voice recognition system has hung up.
Mine is a 2012 Mark Levinson Nav system.
My voice recognition in my 07 doesn't recognize my voice. I said "phone" and it went to AM radio. I said "one" and it went to FM. How do I calibrate it?

View 2 RepliesI notice in the service/diagnostic menu, there is a place to change the voice recognition (handsfree) settings. It appears to involve recording something (your voice, maybe?), since it has the same kind of record and stop buttons you see on YouTube or in WMP, etc.
How to adjust the microphone sensitivity using this diagnostic?
I have a 2012 Prius III and from the time I bought the car I have been having ongoing multimedia system and voice activation problems. I have taken it into the dealer numerous times, and they often say they were unable to duplicate the problems (so I started recording the issues with my iphone!). The third time I took it in with the videos in hand, they agreed to replace the multimedia unit...unfortunately, the problems persisted. They are outlined below.
1. Voice Recognition button doesn't work about 50% of the time. When pressed, it displays "Voice Recognition Not Available"
2. When plugging in my iPod, the multimedia system will often reboot
3. The touch screen buttons sometimes do not work (may 25% of the time, and only some buttons, not all of them, and they are different every time)
4. When my iPod is plugged in and I navigate to the playlist, the wrong songs will be in the playlist.
5. When plugging in my ipod, the screen will just load and load and load....forever...until I unplug it and plug it back in from the center console plug (not from the iphone side).
Turning my car off, then back on often resolves the problems.
I just got a 2011 Golf today and the voice recognition was speaking in English originally but I somehow changed it to German. I have reset to factory settings and quadruple checked that the language was set to english us. It is still speaking German. The guy at the dealership didn't know how to fix it and service department was gone for the day.

Despite speaking loudly, softly, slowly, faster, etc, etc - if fails to ever recognise 'home'.
I get fm radio, am radio, heads up, etc, etc
Is there anyway to actually get this to work?
On the same note, read lots of apparently different hacks to disable the lock on inputting a new destination whilst driving - but none seem to work.
It has been more than 2 years and I am still very frustrated with the voice recognition. The problem is that the when I want to use the voice dialing, 90% of the time, the system interprets the number 4 as 0. But it will only mix up when the 4 appears in the area code. For example, when I say 416-123-4567, it will respond as 016-123-4567. Other numbers are responding correctly. In general, it is very unreliable in responding correctly to my number 4. My English is very fluent but with a very slight Chinese accent. The worst part is when I took the car and tried to show the problem to the service supervisor (with him in the car), the system will respond to my number 4 or 9 correctly.
Recently, I have bought my complaint to the dealer again. This time, the service supervisor who is also Chinese, told me that many Chinese customers have complained about the same problem. However, there is no software update on the system to address this problem.
So I found a guy selling an OEM Part # 86100-06040 navigation for cheap. Is it as simple as plug and play for switching it out on my 2013 Non Navigation Carmy Hybrid? Does all the steering wheel controls are there?
View 13 RepliesOn my 14.5 there is something wrong with the Entune. Every time I try to use voice commands it tells me it is initializing and to please wait. No beep or voice, just a message on the screen. I first thought it was because I had an iPod Classic and it was taking too long to index, but it does that for everything; phone, nav, even voice training. I also notice it often plays a completely different track then the one I select when manually selecting songs on my playlists, it that normal?
I tried cycling the unit on and off, and made sure everything was up to date. Should I try resetting everything on the unit back to factory? I don't think that will default the firmware though, will it? I have a service appointment on the 30th as a 30 day checkup since buying it but would like to try and figure it out first. I've seen some posts suggesting that Toyota has been replacing head units for it, which would suck.
I just traded my 2012 SE for a 2015 XSE. It seems that after taking the system through the 'voice training' on the NAV/Entune system, voice recognition is terrible, getting most everything wrong. Is there a way to 'un-train' it? The manual does not cover anything like this.
View 2 RepliesBasically, with my phone paired to my entune system via bluetooth, at times, the system doesn't understand how I'm asking to make a call, especially with people I call on a normal basis (like my fiance). for example, I'll say, "Call [Bob Harper]" and then it'll ask me which of the following did I mean to say. One possible name it'll bring for would be "[Joe Smith]" which sounds nothing like the name I told to call. I understand voice dialing isn't perfect, but most of the time, it's not dialing the person I want to call. Maybe it's the way I'm speaking into the mic.
View 8 RepliesI just upgraded my 2010 Camry XLE to the 2015 XLE Hybrid this weekend. Couple of issues... How to get the voice activated system to SEND text messages? I can receive and view them through the car display, but can't get them to respond. I get through all the prompts and then upon sending it stops and says it's not supported.
Second, what I need to get for my iPhone 6 Plus in order to use the built in Qi wireless charger that came with my car? Also, where can I get whatever it is I need to attach to my phone?
How do you set up the voice tags in the Nav? I have a 08 350 if that matters. I can dial by number but not by name--says I have no voice tags listed.? I do the name in the phone book as well....
View 14 RepliesMy Nav voice stopped talking to me. I did ignore many turns because I knew better than she did but I didn't think she'd get that mad and give me the silent treatment!
Anyway, drove from Portland Maine to NJ this afternoon and hallway through the trip I have no more voice on the Nav, directions on screen worked fine. I deleted destination and then started it again and she still gave me the silent treatment. I haven't gone back and started it again since I've been home to see if she's over it and is talking to me again or not but I'll report back tomorrow on that.
While you're driving you can't type anything into the navigation or Bing, or whatever. So you're forced to use the voice control function.
When you push the voice control button it asks, "What would you like to do?" followed by a quick chime/ding that prompts you to speak. That's what it used to do when it worked.
Here's what it does now: I push the voice button, it asks, "What would you like to do?" BUT, the chime/ding doesn't sound and the system goes back to whatever screen I was on prior to pushing the voice button.
When I push the button after that, it does nothing. Voice command does not work for several minutes. The button becomes useless.
THEN, several minutes more pass by and the entire system restarts. Toyota logo comes on, "Warning be aware of surroundings ....." And it is ONLY after the system restarts itself that voice command works as it should. But this is unacceptable. Shouldn't take 15 minutes before it restarts itself before it works.
