Just got a new Camry SE with the 2.5L. Seems like the engine has a bit of a whine to it at start up and a bit less after warm up. Not used to hearing that. Is it common on these? This is my first Toyota purchase.
View 14 RepliesI recently noticed a very noticeable whine coming from the engine bay during acceleration. It is especially noticeable when accelerating hard to about 4000 rpm and then letting off the gas completely. The pitch changes with RPMs as it spins down. It literally sounds like a super charger spooling up. The car only has 4000 miles and seems to have been doing it since new.
View 14 RepliesI used to drive a manual shift Honda Accord. When I was starting the car on snow, I often put the car in 2nd gear, and it was much less likely for the wheels to spin. I now have a 2014.5 SE. I believe that older generation Camry has a switch that allows the car to be start in the 2nd gear, but it seems that the feature is gone with the 7th generation. Is that true?

View 7 RepliesWhile looking in the engine compartment, I noticed that the steering linkage behind the engine where it comes out of the firewall and connects to the steering box is rusting... Bad. The car is only a year old, but the linkage looks like it's 10 years old. Should I be concerned?
View 5 RepliesMy check engine light came on about 4 days ago on my 2014 toyota camry. Found the gas cap was loose that same day it came on and tightened but light is still on and Eco mode not coming on. Is it possible the problem is something else or does it take longer for the light to turn off.
View 12 RepliesI'm going to take my 2012 Camry SE in for service sometime in November and experienced a high-pitched whine (very low volume) in the front end of their car. This sound seems to be coming from the front passenger side of the car and has surfaced only within the last month or so, between 70-75 MPH. Above and below that speed range I hear nothing. This car has low mileage; after almost two years, it has only about 12,500 miles on it.
I'm wondering whether it's a trans-axle whine, but it is of such low volume I don't think it would be easy for a tech to diagnose. Also, other than the D1T recall, are there any other TSBs that I should be aware of, and any recent Entune updates that need to be applied? And, whether Toyota has a remedy for D1T yet?
I have a 2014 camry SE 2.5 with 66.000 miles on it and been having issues since the warranty expired..... What it could be? Cleaned the maf sensor and still no luck and every time i fill the gas tank it won't start takes a while.
View 7 RepliesSo recently, my car started making whining noises upon turning the steering wheel during cold starts. Now, it does it when the car is warmed up too. From what I can hear, its only during slow speeds. Can't take my car to the dealership anymore cause they will charge me $140 diagnostic fee for whatever issues I'm having due to my car being "tampered" with previously. (It's all stock now).

View 11 RepliesI have a 2012 Camry SE with about 30k on it. I've always been a huge Toyota fan but I've had some interesting things happen with my first new car that has me questioning quality. I've had a mouse nest in the cabin air filter with the dead mouse laying in the engine bay (not a toyota issue), a loud rattling exhaust/engine rattle when I start the car, and the common interior creaks that I've been reading about.
However I've noticed a noise coming from somewhere behind the dash, maybe the instrument panel area that has been very annoying. It occurs at highway speeds usually above 65mph and it's kind of like a quick tapping. Very faint but definitely noticeable.
Its not the sunroof because, unfortunately I have that issue also lol. It took me a while to narrow it down to behind the dash but that's as far as I can get because I can't search for it while I'm driving. I'm not very picky but I do like to drive in silence sometimes and listen to the sounds of the engine/tranny shifting (weird I know) but that dashboard noise has been ruining it.
Just purchased 2015 Camry LE. While taking delivery, I noticed a subtle piston slap that started shortly after the engine started and completely went away after driving the car for about 10 minutes. Most people would not consider it an issue, but I am an engineer working with large industrial engines all the time so it was a concern. I asked to drive another Camry on the lot and it had the same issue. The service manager came out and said that this slap is normal and all 2012 - 2015 Camry with 2AR-FE engine do this. I bought the car anyway since I loved the overall design, ride quality and the features, but the piston slap keeps bothering me.
2012-2015 Camry equipped with 2AR-FE 2.5L engine? In order to check you have to start the cold engine and wait for the RPMs to drop to around 900 which will take 1-2 min. Put your ear in front of the radiator and listed to the subtle metallic tapping noise of the pistons rocking and slapping the bore walls. The noise will last for about 10 minutes until the pistons expand and close the excess gap between them and the bore.
I can't find the button to reset the TPMS light on my dash. It's not even in the glove compartment.
View 7 RepliesI recently purchased a new 2015 toyota camry XLE v6 and i love it! HOWEVER the remote start feature i have a problem with. I use the Keyfob that came with the car but i just have to press the lock button twice and hold the third time to remotely start the engine. when start the engine with the remote and it starts normally, when i put my hand on the door handle it unlocks normally but when i open the door the engine shuts off and i have to restart the engine when i get in.
No other car i know does this and its annoying. Did they not install it properly? Or can I have it programmed to not shut off the engine when i open the door and just press the start stop button when I get in like any other car. I got an excuse from the dealership that its a security feature on the car but you cant unlock the door without the keyfob being close anyway.
I just bought a 2014.5 Camry SE and the day I drive it off the lot I noticed it shaking at around 40mph. I made an appt. fort the following week and they said the found all 4 tires had flat spots so they replaced all with 4 new tires. Well, about a week later the shaking started again. Now it's worse than before, especially at higher speeds. I dropped it off today.

We will be taking our car to the dealership tomorrow for cleaning... It is frustrating since it is a brand new car,and we are all suffering from allergies....
Tried all I can think of, everything functions but no sound.

View 13 RepliesI just got a new 2014 camry LE. Overall it is what it is and I am very happy with it. However one thing that is got me annoyed is that there is a hiss coming from ALL speakers. Even if the radio is off the hiss is there. Basically after some experimentation, any time the head unit is completely booted up the hiss is coming from the speakers.
To make sure it is not just my car, I checked out a few more LE from the dealer and they all hiss from the speakers when the head unit is on.
Havn't had a chance to get off work to go to the dealer yet but a buddy at work tells me his older Bimmer had a similar issue. For him, it turned out to be the amp was set to max so that max volume would be achieved. For him he was able to adjust it.
Do the Camry's have a similar adjustability? I'm willing to sacrifice sound level for no hiss.
The Sonata offers a lot of bang for the buck and a great interior. How woukd you compare the Sonata with the Camry?
View 14 RepliesI just did a drain and refill method on my 2014 Camry SE last weekend. However, after measured and calculated, I took out 2qts 1.5oz, but I only pumped in 1.95 qts. So, now the fuild is about 2oz off. Later, I took about 100 miles trip, car shifted fine.
I planted to do a drain and refill again next week. This time, I think I will carefully measure how much fluid is out then pump in the same + 2oz.
I still not sure if that enough, my question is: Can I buy a thermal gun and then measure the temp of the transmission pan, then perform checking fluid? Should it correct?
