I have a 2012 Camry se with the 2.5, When I'm sitting at a red light or the car is in park with the ac is on I can hear an really annoying rattling coming from the car. I dont know what it can be and now it is doing it when the ac is off but not as bad. The only thing I have installed on my car is a cold air intake.
View 1 RepliesWhen i go over bumps at slow speed (such as speed bumps) i hear a rattle in the trunk like something is loose. Its a deep sound like ceramic plate or a brake rotor kinda flopping around back there (not plastic creaks). Sounds almost exactly like a loose spare tire or something. So i checked it, and it was tight. Sound still there. so then i jsut removed everything, jack/tools and spare tires. Sound still there. So then i ran with both the seats down, and up in the locked positions. Def more noticable with the seats down.
It doent seem to make the noise on small sharp bumps when im on the freeway. Usually only rolling slowly (less then 15mph) over large bumps and when the suspension comes back down in rattles. I plan on bringing the car in when my work weeks over, but im wondering if theres anything else i can check in teh trunk area that might be rattleing around.
I'm a new member but my rear deck lid rattles in my car and I'm not sure what it is? I've taken it once already to the dealer and it's happening again !! Every time I drive on bumpy roads it seem the trunk lid starts to rattle..

View 2 RepliesWhat is making the rattling noise on my 2015 Toyota Camry XSE on the passenger side?? It only happens when I drive through cobblestone roads at low speeds or some bumpy roads. It sounds like a water bottle in the cup holder when its makes that rattling sound. I was thinking it's the A-pillar cover on the passenger side.
View 7 RepliesFor the last few months I noticed that there is a rattling or clicking noise that frequently comes from the front passenger seat area but only when no one is in that seat. If the seat is being weighed down by someone sitting there, there is no rattle or clicking noise. It generally occurs when I'm driving on bumpier or textured roads. It suspect that it's coming from something underneath the seat, like the lever that adjusts the seat forward and backward underneath it.
I brought the car to a local dealership and they took a look. After a few hours with them, the car was returned to me. They said they'd found that the lever that adjusts the seat forward/backward was not tightly screwed down all the way on one side, so they adjusted that to make it tight. They also found a coin on the rail underneath that seat and removed it too. However, I drove the car afterward and it is still making the noise.
I've searched this forum and already think I've ruled out the seat belt or the buckle as an issue. I put on the seat belt for the passenger seat and the noise still happens. It's really annoying when driving on a freeway!
I made an appointment with the stealership on Monday morning to take a look at my passenger side door. I took a long trip (600 miles roundtrip) and noticed a buzzing/rattling noise when I was going faster than 65-70 miles an hour on the interstate. And on top of that, when I play songs with a heavy, flat bass, the door gets a very noticeable rattle. When the bass punches, it's fine, but not so much otherwise.

View 2 RepliesWifey has been complaining the past 2 days that her car has been running a bit funny. First warm-ish day here...sitting in traffic and turned on the AC. At a complete stop, in Drive, the car is vibrating the floorboard quite noticeably. Somewhat less noticeably in park/neutral. Otherwise, it seems to behave just fine...power is fine, motor sounds like it always does.
The car was about 3/4 of the way through the tank of gas (87 oct), and wasn't running like this a few days ago when I spent a lot of time behind the wheel. I went and filled the tank, thinking maybe it was bad gas, with a fresh tank of 89. Nope...as soon as you hit the AC button...it starts vibrating.
So the question from all this...does YOUR I4 Camry shake a little bit with the AC on? A little bit of vibration from a 4-cyl doesn't surprise me, but I sure don't seem to recall it last year.
I recently bought a 2014 4-cylinder SE, sight unseen. I test drove another 4-cylinder SE that I recall idled smoothly before I bought mine - or at least I did not notice it, but this one was a trade from another lot and had all of the options that I wanted.
So - is it "normal" for the 4-cylinder Camrys to idle very rough with or without the A/C on, and in drive? I have tried a tank of 87, and a tank of 93 octane. Very small difference in smoothness on 93 octane, but I'd prefer not to have to run that. I owned a 4-cylinder 2008 Chevrolet Malibu before this car, and it idled much smoother than this Camry.
I also have a weird grind that sounds like the starter isn't disengaging when I start the car in the mornings. Push-button start on my car, so it isn't me turning the key too long or anything of that sort.
When sitting around in Drive at idle, my 2013 Camry is vibrating VERY noticeably at idle when the A/C is running. Turn the A/C off and idle goes back to normal.
I don't seem to remember this last summer - is this pretty normal for the I4 models? It seems to happen when the engine is at low RPM in gear and goes away if I blip the throttle or put the car into Neutral or Park. Even more shaky in reverse.
I usually run 87 octane, but have tried a tank of 89 and 93 with much the same result, but a little more power from a stop in hot weather. This feels very unusual for a 2013 car - my old 2002 Nissan didn't seem to even notice that the A/C was on.
A coworker has asked me to take a look at their 2013 Camry LE, 48,000 miles. It has a quite annoying vibration at idle and only when in reverse or drive. AC is not running this time of year, but does get worse if the compressor is turned on.
I'd like to think the trans and engine mounts are fine. It does not have any noticeable torque converter shudder. I have cleaned the throttle body, not that dirty, but not much improvement.
I suggested that he try different brands and grades of gas to see if matters improved at all - Shell 89 seems to be a slight improvement over what is normally used (just 87 from Costco, Sunoco, or Hess), but nothing substantial.
Spark plug change, decarbonizing top end?
Spark plugs look about like I'd expect an iridium plug to at these miles - no signs of oil burning, not tons of carbon, etc. I didn't get a real good look at the piston tops.
I have been getting some noise from the fuel pump when the car is at idle. I am sure the noise is there when the car is moving but the road noise is cancelling it out. The noise is very subtle but a bit annoying. Do you hear your fuel pump at idle? I will take it in for a replacement.
View 6 Replies2012 camry se v6 ...have a dome light flicker at stop..idle..in gear...and most noticeable at night. Dealership checked alternator. all ok according to their device. I made them show me. They changed the battery saying it was bad which changed the flicker a bit but didnt remove it. (could also be crazy and just wanted it to fix it) Overall just annoying but dont think it should be doing it. The dealership said this was normal for this car with the JBL audio. The car is completely stock, no modifications. Dont trust their response. Car is just out of warranty and just purchased.
View 3 RepliesI just put on a magnaflow cat-back exhaust and sometimes when i idle i have a rattle and sometimes it will not rattle. I went under it and shook all around to see if anything was hitting but there was nothing i could see. What could it be?
View 4 RepliesI recently bought a 2000 Gmc Sonoma SLS and it's been a headache ever since. Ever since I got it, it's made this rattling sound that only occurs when I'm both idling and when the AC compressor is on. The sound is intermittent and sounds like something rattling against a large metal pan. Whenever I turn the AC off or pick up the RPMs, it stops like it was never there.My first thought was: belt tensioner. So I popped the hood and watched the tensioner at idle and it seems to be moving back & forth a lot more than I think it should, however, there's not much give at all when I push on the belt itself.
View 14 RepliesSo I had put a 12 in. Subwoofer in a couple of months ago in my trunk, and on certain bass notes I get this rattling. I found out what it is, in the sedan version, it's the rear panel right below the back window and behind the seats. If I push it down have and inch or put some pressure it stops and everything sounds amazing! How to get it to stop?
View 7 RepliesI was experiencing a slight under hood rattle when ever the ICE would kick in at approximately idle. It would go away if the pedal was depressed beyond the point that the eco light would go off. After scouring the internet, no good answer came up. So I checked under the hood just to see what was going on. Simplest fix ever, the stick that props the hood open had become unsecured. Snapped it back into place and voila, back to normal.

Last time I had a problem similar to this, dealer said it was a heat shield making the noise and they said they removed the heat shield (didn't specify what the heat shield was for.
Now I'm wondering if the heat shield was removed, what else this could be now...planning on taking it in in a few days.
I have a 2004 3.5 V6 that is making a rattling noise when the car is in idle and/or about 1rpm. Sometimes, for awhile now , it kind of screams when I first start it...but not all the time. I know this is a loaded question but what do you think it might be? The screaming noises don't happen all the time, like I said, and very rarely happen together but the rattling is happening a lot!
View 1 RepliesLately I have been hearing a rattling noise from the bottom of my car, when it's in park I can barely hear it but I know its there, but when i put it in drive or reverse it gets worse. Could it be that the exhaust heat shield is loose? Or worse? I had my Tranny fluid flused at 142,000 mi i'm at 144,000.
