View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 SE and the sunglass holder on the ceiling will not stay in the up position. When I first purchased the car it stayed up with nothing in it but when I had a normal pair of glasses in it after the sun beat on it for a little while it would come down on its own, but now even with nothing in it, it just opens back up every single time I close it. It looks like the little plastic "arm" with a metal pin in it on the right side is just sitting there and should be attached to it some how but I can't see how to/where to put it in the holder itself.

The dealership has no clue - they wanted to sell new bulbs. They are barely bright enough to drive at night, certainly not 10% dimmer from age as they described.. (plus the auto on does not work ).
I just finished installing my interior leds from Diode Dynamics. I am having one small problem. The dome lights and map lights stay on very faintly. The weird part is had to get a new led board for the dome light and I put back in one of my stock bulbs and all the leds are off but once I put the second led in the dome area the leds have faint light look again. I have a sunroof so I have the dual lights.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata Limited that now has 70k+ miles on it. For the past year I have been having a problem with the car turning off intermittently, it will occur at random times. I have had no issues starting the car whatsoever.
When I go to shut off my car the engine will turn off, but the cabin lights, and radio will stay on. The screen will also tell me to shift to park. Without turning the car fully on, I can shift the gears sometimes and I will shift it from drive to park again, and it still will not fully shut off. Today, it actually took 20 minutes to get it to go off - every time I hit the start/stop button I could hear it click as well, which was a new noise that I hadn't detected.
I have presented this problem to the dealership, but every time I do take it in the issue never seems to occur while there (just my luck) and they say they have "never heard of such an issue" to the point where I feel insane.
All recalls have been taken care of on my car at this point so I am not sure what the issue is, my fear is the switch is going out, but wouldn't I have the same issue starting the car?
The map lights in my 2011 Sonata GLS just started having a problem. They stay on when the switch is set to Door, even when all of the doors are closed. They'll turn off when I turn it to Off and on when I turn it to On. It just started the other day, and the only unusual thing that's happened recently is my brother used my car to jump start his dead battery.
View 22 RepliesI have a small problem with my 2011 Camry base model manual transmission. I replaced my rear view mirror and installed the EC homelink with compass rear view mirror as the replacement. I followed the instructions and it works fine but after connecting the battery again and turning the car on my check engine light stays on. I had the same problem when I installed my HID head light kit and I disconnected the battery and apparently it reseted the computer because the check engine light turned off, but I tried to disconnect and reconnect the battery twice now after installing the mirror and my check engine light is still on. How to reset it?
View 6 RepliesLast week, my 2002 V6 Camry decided it didn't want to start when the key was turned. That was with my wife driving. By the time I got out there, the car was running just fine. She said it didn't turn over, didn't click, nothing.
Today, it did it again, but it didn't have that magic reawakening like it had last week. I tried jumping it to see if it was the battery, but it did not change anything.
Here's what happens: Turn key to run position, and the dashboard lights up.
Turn key to start position, and there's silence. The clock on the dash turns off (as normal), but the only noise under the hood is the sound of the starter relay making a single click.
Does that mean the next place to look is the starter Solenoid? Can I jump the solenoid like on an old car to see if that starts her up?
Over the past year on my 2002 Camry, I have had my CE light come on and on the next start, the VSC TRAC lights will flash back and forth and then stay on shortly after moving the car. This seems to happen soon after a gas filling. I can put my reader on and usually find codes 0440 and 0402 which I can clear the CEL but the VSC TRAC light comes back on the next time I move the car. I have taken it to a dealer three times now and they have found no apparent problem and cleared the lights. But maybe the next time I fill up, it happens again . . . but not every time I fill up. I have read about the "fix" by shorting out pins 4 and 10 but I am not comfortable with that right now as there has to be a specific reason this is happening.
View 5 RepliesI had a dead battery in my 2002 Solara. After I had it replaced the indicator lights on the dash would stay on. Also the fan blower will keep running if not turned off. So I have accessories running with the key in the off position. I have checked all fuses and they appear good. Bad ignition switch?

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
The driver's headrest on my 07 V10 will not lock in the down position. The buttons on the side of the headrest only release from up to down. After a day of driving it works itself up and is annoying. My dealer looked at all of the 07 Touaregs on the lot and they all were the same. My 04 V8 never had the problem of working itself up.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 Regular Cab Work Truck with non power split bench seat. The passenger side back will not hook in the up position.
Before diving into it. Is the mechanism broken or is it something I can fix if I tear it apart? There is nothing stuck under or behind that I can tell.
My wife drives a 2004 passat 4 motion 1.8 T that for a couple of days has been acting up. By acting up I mean it will turn over but won't start. When this happens and after letting the key out of the start position, the epc and cel light will stay on. After letting it sit for a while it will start.

View 6 RepliesI have an F 150 2002 Trition V-8. I always thought I knew how to read an instrument panel on a vehicle but after being put down by my Ford, I have to rethink this knowledge.
I have noticed over the past 4 years that my volt meter guage on the instrument panel always stayed in the same place whether the motor was running or just the key in the on position. I noticed that a little battery icon kept coming on and going out yesterday. I read the owner's manual and it said something like this indicates your battery is not taking a charge correctly. Well why has the guage not told me anything. Well the alternator has quit but yet and still the guage is still showing me all is well.
I ask a Ford dealer service dept. about this and they do not have a clue. All they tell me is people do not pay attention to the guage but when the light comes on they need. They also said the gauge would work when everything shuts down, but man! I don't need it to work then. I know it's broken when that happens. It quits running.
What is the purpose of the gauge sitting there all shiny and pretty if it is not going to say anything other than "HEY MAN! I am just here looking pretty and taking up space".
I have looked at other trucks and they do the same thing. Nothing .. What is going on with this gauge which undoubtedly does nothing?
My front drivers side pillar is flapping around and won't stay in the set position. It seems to be the washer that the one of the clips goes into (at the very bottom of the pillar) has corroded.
So firstly I am trying to take it off - but after reading the removal of windscreen instructions I see:
21. REMOVE FRONT BODY PILLAR OUTER RH
a) Remove the nut.
I can't see a nut and if it's under the pillar how do I access it?
And then
34: INSTALL FRONT BODY PILLAR OUTER RH
a) Exchange the clip with a new one
What clip is this referring to and what is the part number.
Ok, so i replaced my map lights with some led's (2011 Camry Le) and now they won't work. My dome light works fine as do my other lights, only the map lights don't.
I've been searching online everywhere to see which one is the fuse on the diagram. I've looked at both the one under the dash and the one under the hood. All I saw was one labeled "dome" and even checked that one and it wasn't blown? Which one it is on the diagram?
2011 XLE, 54k on it. Drove to work last night, turn signals working fine. Came out in the morning, noticed the lights did not flash when I unlocked the door. Started up to drive home, noticed the turn signals not working, also emergency 4-ways not working. Found the 10 amp fuse, #19 blown, replaced, still no signals or 4-ways. Fuse is still good, I suspect to flasher/relay, but where is it?
Fuse panel under the dash mentions signals with clock & glove box light, but they are working and that fuse is good. I do have a hitch on the car with the electronic plug & play relay, but I unplugged that and plugged the stock harness back in, same problem, no turn signals or 4-ways.
Turn signal lights into parking/turn signals (6th gen 2011 Camry LE)? I replaced my parking lights with a bright led that matches my headlights, but I would like my turn signals to be on when my parking lights are on.
For some reason I thought they turned on with the parking lights (my other cars do), so I bought some switchback led's and after I installed them I realized that my turn signals don't come on with the parking lights. Is this something I can do by swapping out a relay or with some minor wiring changes?
I am planning on getting the relay below to stop the hyper-flashing and am curious if it would do anything else, common sense makes be believe it will not since the lights don't currently don't turn on, but I am not 100% sure. Also, is 1 relay better than another? They all seem to be the same with the exception of some have controls to adjust the flash speed.
