Camry :: 2011 - Glove Box Damper Seems Like Falling Off
Aug 20, 2012
We have a Toyota Camry 2011 Saturday I changed the engine air filter and the cabin air filter. I had no problem with the engine air filter however I'm having problems with the glove boxes damper. It seems that it will not stay in place I've connected it back to the bolt and pulled the lever out and attached it to the glove box.

A week into owning my Sonata, I noticed the right tail light had become ajar, with the plastic fittings completely snapped off.
I had to take it to the dealership to get it serviced, whatever, problem solved. Right? Yesterday, the left tail light snapped off in the same way.
I have not been hit or gotten into any kind of accident for that matter. I got it serviced again today and asked if this was some kind of a defect in the car.
For both tail lights to snap off is really a mystery to me.

I recently (July 2016) bought a 2012 2.0T Limited with 14K miles. Got an awesome deal on it and really love the car. About two months ago the car had a total loss of power/boost. I took it into the dealer and they performed a wastegate actuator adjustment (something I will be doing on my own now if it becomes a problem again). Now at about 21k miles I'm having a different issue. Here is what's happening:
Accelerating from a stop the car feels as if it's falling out of gear intermittently. Once it happens and I press the gas more/floor it, the car doesn't respond. If I let off the gas and then press it again, the car will then start to accelerate again. On the highway cruising at 70ish, the same thing happens and it even oscillates with constant throttle like its down/up shifting. The ESC light came after a 20 mile highway trip of this oscillation. No CEL. When I got off the freeway, the navigation screen said there may be a problem and I should press the bluelink button.
When this is happening the cruise control either doesn't work at all or the "cruise" light will come on but I can't set a speed. Tonight I noticed in the rear view mirror that the brake light stays on or even flutters after I brake which corresponds to when the cruise is or isnt working as well as when the car intermittently falls out of gear/oscillates falling out of gear with constant throttle. If I notice the brake light is on without actually braking, I can take my foot and pull the brake pedal towards me which turns off the brake light and then the car seems to work correctly as well as the cruise control. The car is driveable but definitely something is wrong.
I should mention that I checked the voltage for the wastegate actuator and it is 3.97v which I believe is within tolerance. All of these issues with no CEL.

Was riding along a couple of days ago and felt something odd under my left foot. When I stopped I reached down and discovered it was the dash fuse cover panel. I went to snap it back into place and no snap; it wouldn't pop back into place or stay put at all. Just keeps falling out. It was sufficiently annoying that I ordered a replacement, but that one's not staying in place either. The only other thing I can think of is that the surrounding lower dash cover may be warped, but nothing looks crooked or out of place.

I drive a '11 Sonata GLS and experience the rattling noise/clanking when weight shifts to the front-right of the car or when i go over a dip, and the noise is coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. I THINK it is the glove box issue that has been mentioned before and I am going to purchase some felt tape and apply this method [URL] .... that was posted here. Did this correct the issue?
And also when i reverse the car (specifically when I turn the wheel to the right) I get a knocking noise, which seems to also be coming from the front-right (or back) I can't tell. Can this be an axle? I'm at 79k mileage so the dealership wants $125 to diagnose the problem and that amount will go towards anything needing repair. Should I take the car to another shop instead?

At first it looked like the right side was OK but now after removing the hinge pins at the bottom (and putting them back on), the glove box appears locke but it's not. I can't see how it comes apart. I know it shouldn't be easy but I have stuff in there I need.

I have a 2011 RX350 and recently noticed rattling sound coming from inside the glove compartment.
I think it comes from the plastic cover of the aircon filter at the back of the glove compartment. This cover seems bit loose even when installed back properly and the vibration (especially when driving over uneven roads) is causing the rattling sound.
I know it's a minor problem but the rattling sound can get irritating at times. My temporary fix is to push back the heavy owner's manual on that cover to prevent vibration.

This noise happens from time to time with seemingly no rhyme or reason and has been present for some time now.
Here's a video of the noise in question. YouTube

I have a 2002 Camry LE V6 (Made in Japan) and wanted to replace the glove box bulb. The manual does not mention how to change it and the local dealership was not sure on how to do it. What is involved in it and what size bulb is needed?

While trying to connect my dome light to my map lights I touched the power wire to the dome light to metal, which blew my fuse. After replacing the fuse none of these lights work, nor does the light around where I put my key in the ignition, a voltmeter test of the dome light power wire shows no power to the dome light. I've read that I may have fried my integration relay, but the dealer doesn't know what this is, and I've also read that it may be behind the fuse box.

It never rains but it pours. This won't be a difficult question, I have a 2006 2.4 Sonata that came with an extended warranty that mimics the new car warranty. I suspension specialist nearby did a brake/steering/suspension examination because I don't trust my dealership AND the warranty is drawing to a close. The car has done 54000 miles and the report says that the rear dampers have leaked/are leaking and need replacing.
So what I'm asking is - what should be considered 'wear and tear' which isn't a warrantable issue and what might be considered a manufacturing failure which can be claimed under a guarantee ?

I've just purchased a 2005 Camry LE 4cyl Auto. It came with only one key (black rubberized Toyota key) and one keyless entry remote. I can only start the car with the key. it won't unlock the driver's door, trunk, nor glove box.
I had thought maybe it was a valet key but it should still unlock the driver’s door. I had a spare key made and bought a second remote, but am still having the same issue (key starts the car but will not unlock anything else).
I just want to be able to get in the car in case the battery dies in my keyless remote and I can't open the door or truck.
a couple of notes:
1) I thought maybe the door lock was sticking but since it’s not working on the door, truck, and glove box, I suspect it is something else
2) not keyed hole on any other doors to test out
3) not a chipped key as I had a spare made for $3 and it starts the vehicle.

I have a 2000 Ranger with the 3.0 in it. Trying to find where the fuel injection pressure damper is located. I was told it's on the fuel rail. Just making sure I'm looking at the right thing.

My 2001 F250 2WD does not have the steering damper that my 2004 F250 2WD has. Is that normal or is my 2001 missing it?

On my ongoing project, I have a replacement trans out of an Explorer. I have swapped over the bracket and will be changing the shifter shaft, but I noticed that the new trans has what appears to be some sort of vibration damper mounted to the lower side of the tail shaft with 3 bolts.
It is just a bracket that has a cast weight mounted in rubber. It was not a mount of any kind as the only bolt connection is to the trans itself.
The trans I took out did not have one of these, nor can I find any mention of it in the factory manual. The Explorer I pulled the trans from was a 92, my Aerostar is a 91. It doesn't appear that this device will conflict with mounting.
It is possible that the whoever installed the trans that I have removed forgot to install the damper, or it is possible that it is used only on the Explorer but not on the Aerostar.

how do I check the transmission oil on my 2011 Camry LE (2ARFE). I am curious as this car has 98K miles now and I cannot locate the dipstick for the Transmission oil. I got the car 2 years ago at 89K miles.
A technician once told me it's going to be a flush.
I only do 135 miles every week and I am located in Africa.
How do I check the transmission oil and how often should I change it?

Spoke with a friend the other day and his headliner is falling, already. Was there a recall on this, never seen a car this new be so bad...
I offered to do his headliner for him, but would like to keep the OE pattern. I can get regular stuff from a local fabric shop, but didn't recall seeing anything close to what is in there.

Ever since I got my car back from service at a car shop 3 days ago, my gas pipes have been falling fast, getting half the distance I used to. The weather is the same, my commute/miles are the same, my driving habits are the same (hypermiling more or less), and the trip consumption on the MFD is normal. My average is 52.5 MPG. The only thing that's changed was getting my car maintained and they used synthetic motor oil for the first time but that should make no difference.
Dont know why I'm seeing my pips drop at a 2x rate.

I have been having a problem with the VW logo in the center of the wheel falling off. What happens is I usually go to wash the wheels and notice the gaping hole in the center. I had the last one replaced (at my expense) 3 months ago. Now, it has fallen off again on the same wheel and is nowhere to be found.

Sun visors are falling down. Question: the first step in removing the old visor is to remove the plastic trim cap that hides the phillips screws that retain the sunvisor.
What's the best way to do this (without breaking the cap - that is)? The tsb issued back in '08 says something like "use the appropriate body trim remover". Does the thing just pop off?
